- Bill shows us around his Hampstead home, we are introduced to his daughters and grandchildren, and he tells us about his clinical depression.
Bill Oddie is an English author, actor, comedian, artist and musician, perhaps best known for his role in the hit 1970's BBC TV comedy series 'The Goodies'.
In recent years however, Bill has established a reputation as a leading ornithologist, conservationist and television presenter on wildlife issues.
A few years back, Bill was diagnosed with clinical depression. Learning more about the condition, he discovered that it could be rooted in the absence of his Mother growing up.
Bills Mother, Lillian, was diagnosed as a manic-depressive and spent much of her adult life in mental institutions.
But what caused Lillian's illness? Bill returns to his hometown and meets up with distant friends and relatives to find out the cause of his Mothers condition and hopefully help himself overcome his own anxieties.

Bill seems like such a lovely man. I’m sorry to hear the sadness of his childhood memories. He has brought so much laughter and enjoyment to so many people since. A very real and sincere guy. God bless you, Bill. Keep going.
What a lovely honest man. He has made me laugh and I felt a tear in my eye watching this tonight. It was good 'meeting' his Mum. He has done her proud.
Lovely man, who has bought laughter and joy to millions the world over. I've loved Bill's work since the 70s.
Bill Oddie is a highly intelligent and intellectual individual! 👍☺
I'm too young to remember him for his earlier works, but I'll always remember him as the voice of Asterix :)
He'll always be my favourite from the goodies
It'd ironically saddening that a person with personality problems can bring joy and laughter to so many with his comedy ...a big up to ya Bill. ..keep making us laugh as long as you can do please mate
Comedy often comes from pain. It's a well known coping mechanism. Plus it's functional, which is good
