amazing i bought the MX master 3s in August and i already customized it and it is amazing your butons for me are : L = Hide The rest of the model E= Hide Similar Q=Hide Edges R=Hide Profile P=Copy M=Past in Place i dont need to set keys for mouve rotate or... because i use the curic gismo plugin whitch is amazing
Definitely useful for those of us that hasn't thought of this before (especially ONLY for use in Sketchup and not universal !) and don't have a 3D Mouse Thanks for the tip !
Really great tips. I have the Master 2, so the buttons are a bit different, but this worked great. Looking forward to getting in the habit of using the mouse instead of the keyboard. Yes...keep posting hacks even if they aren't inside SketchUp.
Great video Aaron, I have an MX Master mouse as well and have assigned some of the buttons to my most used SketchUp commands.. I really like the ability to select a specific application to enable shortcuts for just that and none other in the Logi software.
Great tip! I imagine "muscle memory" takes over once you've become accustomed to the shortcuts; do you feel handicapped when transitioning to a computer that's not equipped with a similar mouse? Or, going the other way, do you "forget" you have the customized buttons after a long period of using someone else's computer?
thanks for sharing, I onle yesterday got my mx master 3 mouse & I'm happy, its amazing, before I asked on forum which mouse buy, & advice was this logitech mouse. on side scroll button I assign undo/redo & its work cool.
Thank you Aaron, I was trying to convert my SU friends for a long time, now there is an official support. One problem after the latest update though. C for circle is assigned to "horizontal scroll wheel". Now when I need to change the number of segments, I have to move the pointer before typing the numbers, otherwise the measurements field reads, "C(segments)" which leads to an error.
Yeah… the issue is that mouse short cuts are basically just keys being typed. If you activate a mouse shortcut when you are in a field, it will just type that letter. This is one reason that I did not assign keystrokes to the wheels on my mouse!
Great video. I am a beginner and I found the navigation not very intuitive to be honest. I would like to be able to use my right mouse button for dragging Sketchup doesnt differenciate between click-release and click-hold. I would like to set click release to the drop down menu and click-hold for drag. In addition to this I would like to have the ability to "quick cast" tools. Quick cast in video games is a great time saver. The tool is applied instead of selected while holding the key. You safe time because you dont have to right click. So in conclusion my dream would be in the system preferences Sketchup letting you select between: Clickt to Select-Tool like we have now but also hold to select tool or quickcast to apply tool.
Thank you for sharing your shortcuts and advices, its very usefull ! Did you tried the cadmouse from 3Dconnexion ? i wonder what shortcuts would you recomand for this mouse which has 6 buttons which can also be assigned to on screen shortcuts wheels (with 4 to 8 tools for each wirtuel wheel). The MX series from Logitech is also a great mouse thanks to its second horizontal scrooll under thumb.
I really liked the way that the cad mouse felt in my hand. I did not get much out of the dedicated third button though. As for which shortcuts to map, it all comes down to what commands you use the most!
We do have some Getting Started videos, but also, check out learn.sketchup.com (SketchUp Campus) for free Courses. Start with SketchUp Fundamentals for Desktop
Is there a way to map buttons for iPad. when I am home I use a mouse with SketchUp but cannot find a way to map button in SketchUp for I pad. Just wondering if this is even possible. Thanks.
Hi newbie sketchup user here. Was wondering if there was a way to assign the ''orbit'' and ''pan'' to the my mouse's side buttons and use them without the need to left click everytime. It just feels better imo instead of a kind of ''toggling'' them if that makes sense?
Orbit function is mapped to the "middle button" so if you can mapp that to one of your side buttons, then it could work... Pan is, by default, a modifier while orbitting... so again, if you can mapp that modifer... otherwise, you can map shortcuts to those commands and toggle thme on and off using keys mapped to the side buttons.
Thanks! i totally forgot about the middle mouse button. I ended up using a macro for the pan on icue since everything else failed but it works perfectly now for my usage 👍@@SketchUp
@@SketchUp My middle mouse button stopped working so I need to temporary move the orbit function to a sidebutton until I get a new mouse, how do I do that?
I absolutely disagree! None of my shortcuts affect the ability to use the scroll wheel to orbit and zoom. I use this same setup when I travel and do not have a 3D mouse connected to my laptop!
Right , giving up. Logiwhatever panel say INACTIVE and all buttons just orbit. That might be useful if I wasn't using a space mouse . . . Oh and now after restarting mouse doesn't work at all lol Jesus

Thanks for all the great tip videos, it would be great to have a comprehensive dive into dynamic components.

Loved it. I aim to start using at least one of these shortcuts. Probably Rotate/ Push pull movements, that was cool.

Ha! Yeah… every once in a while I will be using SU for web and try to use a gesture to launch a tool… it is pretty entraining into me at this point!
Hugely helpful thanks!

How do you customize the icons please ? (for example the pen, eraser etc...)
Thanks for the video

Great advice but how do you customise if you’re using the web based app?
Love this kind of stuff

Could the bottoms be assigned to the web version of sketchup?
Hi there, Is there any video playlist for someone who want to learn sketchup completely from beginning? for someone who never used sketchup before?
We do have some Getting Started videos, but also, check out learn.sketchup.com (SketchUp Campus) for free Courses. Start with SketchUp Fundamentals for Desktop
My side scroll button is setup for volume control...all these RUclips tutorials all different volumes lol

actually I have that mouse - lol - thanks Aaron
Wow!!
Use Logitech G604 12 shortcut/macro
Ok Clicked the #1 button on the back - now it's active but the Space Mouse is dead lol - Enough of this - Keyboard shortcuts will do just fine
This is only practical for those with a dedicated 3D navigator like Aarons, otherwise it’s not that practical to be honest.
