It's May 2019 and I'm shopping for a new phone. After going through all the specs of the latest phones and upcoming phones I ended buying the Wuawei Mate 20 Pro. Simply put, It checked most of the boxes for me and it more than $500 less then any other flagship device. The P30's don't have 2K screens and the battery is smaller.
Recently came back from holiday in Iceland, i couldn't have wished for a better camera on my phone than my Mate 20 Pro, I got a ok me truly special shots and never felt like I was missing anything. The quality of images I took easily impress and I never doubted it would document my holiday perfectly and do the beautiful scenery of Iceland justice and it did just that....and more!
I'm going in July and thinking of leaving iPhone for Huawei (deciding on this one or Galaxy or MAYBE google pixel). I'd love to know your instagram so I can see your photos too!
The only thing I regret was not picking the glossy black color but twilight is a good second so I'm not too disappointed. Most pictures showed the black one as non-glossy, so I thought it wasn't nearly as good-looking as it in fact is. The other two colors, green and blue, are non-glossy/textured and don't look quite as nice and shiny IMHO but they are good those wanting a less slippery phone...
André Felipe It depends on whether you prefer a flashy or conservative design. Both are glossy but twilight is flashier while black is more conservative. Some might think twilight is too flashy, while others might think black is too conservative. I think that the younger you are, the more likely you are to prefer twilight and the older you are, the more likely you are to prefer the glossy black.
I hoooooope so. I dont like camera that would show every flaw my face has. That would be hell.disappointing. Some people hate beautification because they have nice skin already but not everyone is gifted with that.
umm not sure how long are you using android but there are some notifications that can't be removed, I mean it depends on developer like in Whatsapp if you use whatsapp web then the notification that you get in your phone is of non dismissable category. usually these kind of notifications are used for things that are going to get updated frequently like "Uploading files".
Had mine for about a month now, actually love it, really great design, very tasteful, great camera versatility and yes amazing battery life. Edges were weird to get used to as well as the swipe gestures and sometimes fingerprint and face unlock can be finicky but theyre all minors in comparison to the full package - plus the emeral green colour looks cool
I'm currently using the Mate 20 Pro but I ever so slightly miss the P20 Pro. I found the P20 a little easier to use one handed and i'm still not sure how I feel about the curved display. If EMUI 9 improves the performance of the P20 Pro I may go back to it. Although the P30 should be out in a few months
I had the Mate 20 Pro for about a month, didn’t like a couple of things, namely the curved edges, and the finger print scanner under the glass. I eventually chopped it in and got the Mate 20 X, it’s brilliant, same cameras as the Mate 20 Pro, finger print scanner on back, dual speakers AND a headphone jack.
what about camera quality compare to mate 20 pro ?? cuz i have seen many reviews of mate 20 x and they say camera is not that great in compare to mate 20 pro what's you opinion ?
André Felipe if you want all the new technology such as in-display fingerprint, ir face id, reverse wireless charging & curved screen buy the Mate 20 Pro If you dont care about new features and need a bigger display, M Pen support and better stereo speakers with a headphone jack buy the 20 X Other than that both are same in spec, camera & features. The 20 Pro is the most famous and easy to hold though.
Mr Salman the Mate 20 Pro & 20X has the same camera and the same quality. Only the regular Mate 20 LCD display version has the lower MP camera. Although the Mate 20 Pro & 20 X has the same camera the Pro might have a bit extra quality because its software optimization because the Pro is their highest end Flagship. 20X is in between the regular and Pro
my views exactly! after using it for about a month. I've just received the 1.83 update and it has perfected many small defects. Almost perfect now. Someone should compare these phones with their latest software.
This is more like a 2019 flagship in 2018. Huawei did an amazing job here. Only thing that bothers me is the EMUI, but then again One ui and all the other UIs in general don't appeal to me. I would probably just change it for pixel 4 if the design is going to be improved.
Some Note 9 users including me has camera issue.. the camera module vibrates when trying to zoom 1.5x or higher both in photo and video mode and also on live focus mode.. this results into a blurry image and video footage. Please make a video ragarding this matter as i have not yet seen any Popular RUclipsr discussing it. Thanks in advance
@@Roccinante it happens even with sufficient light source, i just want the issue to be discuss by Popular RUclipsr so users will not think that they are trying to cover up the issue.
Also one thing, which no reviewer is pointing out are the transitions; when we change the modes in the camera app. Only iPhones and Mate 20 pro are speedy with the transitions. If you don't believe me, try changing the modes on OnePlus 6T or Samsung phones. The transitions and the time it takes is VERY SLOW😶
People were saying only the screens made by LG had the green screen problem. I ran a device check and I was so glad that my phone screen was not from LG. I have been using this phone for 3 months now, it is a great phone! (Other than it is more expensive than I what expected. I thought Chinese phones would be cheaper.)
Top review I have it as my daily driver and another thing I would mention is updates seem to be very quick from Huawei software version 1.83 is due soon with smoother guestures and camera improvements and of course security patches
My issues with m20p after 2 months: Gestures don't work with other Launchers Camera interface is horrible and can't be customized Always On Display is a no featured joke Front camera has extremely shallow dof, everyone behind the main subject are blurry Cameras can be earth shattering fantastic, but they are not very consistent, its a lottery I found that the HDR mode is one of the best overall modes to shoot, yet its so hidden in UI its criminal Screen rotate can be sluggish This is all compared to Samsung experience (I switched from Note line after 8 years!) There are many many things to like, these are just the flaws that not many people are talking about.
me too, I bought my p20 pro at an awkward timing in last july, I dun wanna buy a mate 20 pro now. still contemplating to wait for p30 pro or even longer for mate 30 pro.
Thanks for the review, this video made me make up my mind. Changed from iPhone 6s to this phone, I got quite a bit of concerns from watching all the review videos on RUclips. But i,'m glad that I got this phone, because it's sooo amazing, the design is great, perfect for one hand use even for someone like me with a small hand, the twilight colour is amazing, and the camera is so versatile, the battery life is insane, only used 30% of the battery with 5hr screen time!!!! The change was realatively easy, the pre-installed app helped a lot in transferring data, it took less than 3 minutes to transfer all photos, videos, contacts and calendar. I really appreciate the engineers and the Huawei team for building such a great device! The gluegate issue has been fixed, I have no problem at all
Great video. Only thing I will say is that you should use the front camera on photo mode, and when you snap a shot hold the phone still for a second after the shot and it sharpens the photos. I don't get any beauty mode on my face and believe me I need it haha. Oh and reverse wireless charging works fine. You only really need it to keep someone's phone alive but at the pub. Charges slow but does charge.
Not to be a cynic but how can a phone become obsolete in 3 months???? I mean title says askes 'Still Worth Buying' after just 3 months LOL There are phones coming out almost every month.
From iPhone 6s to Oneplus 6, I got to say I'm still in love with Android. Because it's more easy to access the internal storage and seek out the files you need witch means you can use it as a ssd drive. Though Oneplus 6 do have a type-c port but it doesn't support usb 3.0, it can be a great phone to use. ps. I've upgrade my battery capacity up to 3700mah, so it is wonderful now. XD
One thing that annoys the heck out of me with the mate 20 pro is, because i watch alot of RUclips, the sound tend to "smartchange" (?) To what im watching and makes the sound go lower which makes me sound like im deaf on 1 ear..
My downsides after 2 months of use... call quality is awful, through the phone earpiece and any Bluetooth device. This doesn’t affect media audio, just the phone. The screen has scratches despite being kept in a dedicated pocket in a microfibre bag. These are fine micro scratches so it’s the very top surface rather than a deep scratch. My previous iPhone has an immaculate screen after 2 years and was used in the same way.
Iphones for 8 years, fed up of being ripped off. Tried M 20 pro and really like it. You can notice a few glitches and ways we're they've tried to copy apple. But when your phone fully charges in 45 mins, you have this high resolution and its lightning quick, you really don't mind. Im hoping the phone will last for the two years I have it now.
The green display problem has been solved in latest phones? Or does it still remain? Also what about the heating? I heard that mate 20 pro does not here problem like that when users use it...Is that for sure?
I'm finding these for good prices in the used market. It's cheaper than the Note 9. IS it better than the Note 9? I'm a bit of a Samsung fanboy and don't know which way to go when upgrading from my S6.
@Bibi Rai My Phone No problems at All. The only thing i hate is when i write the keyboard goes down 😂 dunno why it only does it on messenger. Sorry to hear about your Phone. My gf have the p pro 20 and No problems right now
I love my mate 20 pro. The reverse wireless charging is not for smartphones but for small gadgets, such as wireless earbuds, even electric toothbrush and wireless mouse as long as it supports Qi Charging. When you are on a trip, the reverse wireless charging really ease your mind.
I'm still thinking between huawei Mate 20 Pro and Oneplus 6T. Hard decision! Thank you so much much for your feedback. I can't wait for the next video! 👏 🍾
I'm loving my Mate 20 pro, there's nothing I'd rather have as a complete package. However, I'm having some issues with the in-display fingerprint reader. It gives me a ridiculous amount of false negatives so that I find myself reentering the fingerprints almost every couple days, sometimes multiple times in a day. Any recommendations or fixes?
If it was available in the US, I would have bought it. I just can't spend around $1K give or take without a warranty, others think different, and fine. I have no security fears, my daughter uses a US version of the Mate 10 Pro and it's a great phone. I wish they would let the market prevail and not politics. I've said this before elsewhere, I can understand not wanting Huawei building the infrastructure but that's something else and has nothing to do with a consumer product. Would I buy it now, probably no do to newer choices coming to the market. Thank you for the re review, and good luck to all of you have have this fantastic device.

I got mine almost two months ago the fingerprint sensor was very irritating so I put it off. The facial recognition is so sensitive so whenever I looked at the screen it unlocked. I've used two screen protectors and they're both useless because they don't curve around the screen properly so it never fully sticks and Peeled off eventually. But other than that. Totally love it. Can't afford the watch though.

Not sure the front facing camera is "Beautifying" the subject but more so that it's a fixed focus lens so the focus doesn't change... which for a self cam is a bit redundant. I have this phone and love it but the selfie stuff is trash.
I have the p20, my partner has mate 10 pro. Both have great camera, excellent battery but both have issues with vibrate strength. If it's in your pocket on silent you won't know if someone calls you. It's noisy when using it when typing to. Is mate 20 Pro the same or is it better?
I have few things that bother me, that I didn't expirience with Samsung S8 edge: 1. You can't adjust volume for the message notifications and the ringtone. So if I make my ringtone louder everything, even the WhatsApp notifications come super loud. 2. Not compatible with the smart watches, other that the huawei ones. 3. Not good steady shoot video mode. I think the Xperia z5 and this can't compare.

How many SOT do you get? My mat 20 pro is only at 5-6 hours. I was hoping for 7-8 but im not getting that even in FHD+. Possiibly due to the BOE screen I think
Phone looks/feels great and the battery is the best thing but honestly the pictures are poor. Take a picture of a face and skin tones look painted on or mottled as such. Reverse wireless charging is the most pointless thing created. The UI is terrible and I know you can use a launcher but why should you need to hide the standard phone features behind another launcher. It has an IR remote but if found it doesn’t work with many tv’s/set top boxes here in the UK. I returned mine as it just felt like a standard Huawei smashed together mess. My honest opinion would be to avoid it unless you are a Huawei user as you will hate it a short time after using it.

Can you share some of those pics somewhere, I would love to see the landscapes and how the phone handled it.
TheHenor ye sure. You on Instagram? I'll DM you some pics!
Yes, you can send them at @henorvuniqi. Thank you.
what's your IG username, i'm interested in seeing those photos
I'm going in July and thinking of leaving iPhone for Huawei (deciding on this one or Galaxy or MAYBE google pixel). I'd love to know your instagram so I can see your photos too!
you can get it for under the price of oneplus 6t in denmark
The only thing I regret was not picking the glossy black color but twilight is a good second so I'm not too disappointed. Most pictures showed the black one as non-glossy, so I thought it wasn't nearly as good-looking as it in fact is. The other two colors, green and blue, are non-glossy/textured and don't look quite as nice and shiny IMHO but they are good those wanting a less slippery phone...
Are u sure Black color is the best? Im between twilight and Black to pick.
@@andr3d3co Emerald Green or Blue the best. Surface of these 2 colours are different too
André Felipe It depends on whether you prefer a flashy or conservative design. Both are glossy but twilight is flashier while black is more conservative. Some might think twilight is too flashy, while others might think black is too conservative. I think that the younger you are, the more likely you are to prefer twilight and the older you are, the more likely you are to prefer the glossy black.
I used this phone too, I had nothing to complain about it. Fantastic phone.
This is really thorough, my friend is contemplating buying this phone right now, I think he'll go for it after watching this, Cheers.
I had pre-ordered the Mate 20 Pro and its amazing. Had the green screen issue and Huawei gave me a new phone no questions asked. Amazing.
Love how relatively long n detailed this video was
i always wonder about short vs long videos!
@@Thetechchap you're vids are my fav. Bought a mate 20 pro because of you and another RUclipsr.
The Tech Chap make them as long as possible please, esp about mobile phones
I love the way your feet taste
I would say beautified problem won’t be going away anytime soon, as majority of Chinese ladies prefer this feature
I hoooooope so. I dont like camera that would show every flaw my face has. That would be hell.disappointing. Some people hate beautification because they have nice skin already but not everyone is gifted with that.
I have Mate 20x and i love it.
that's a huge phone
@@akltom Yes it used to huge but not that huge after 2 Months 😄
you are living in denial. buy the new phone. live. idiot.
@@MrDopestDope1 It's true that you are really idiot.
Does it fit in pockets okay?
umm not sure how long are you using android but there are some notifications that can't be removed, I mean it depends on developer like in Whatsapp if you use whatsapp web then the notification that you get in your phone is of non dismissable category.
usually these kind of notifications are used for things that are going to get updated frequently like "Uploading files".
Love all your videos! Always sounds fare and useful.
I have it too. It's by far the best on the market
Richard Anderson p30 pro will release towards FEBRUARY end or "MARCH"
It’s realising on February 25-28
Where have you seen this info? P20 was released in April so I assumed the P30 would be the same
I am loving it as my first ever smart phone.
My sister uses a Mate 20 Pro and she loves it. It looks like a great phone and its design is amazing.
@Watching Videos the mate 20 x has a 1080p OLED not LCD - only the the regulr mate 20 is LCD
should i pick Mate 20 Pro or Mate 20 X?
what about camera quality compare to mate 20 pro ?? cuz i have seen many reviews of mate 20 x and they say camera is not that great in compare to mate 20 pro what's you opinion ?
André Felipe if you want all the new technology such as in-display fingerprint, ir face id, reverse wireless charging & curved screen buy the Mate 20 Pro
If you dont care about new features and need a bigger display, M Pen support and better stereo speakers with a headphone jack buy the 20 X
Other than that both are same in spec, camera & features.
Same on the Note8 and it happens in low light only, don't worry it's normal.
@@Roccinante it happens even with sufficient light source, i just want the issue to be discuss by Popular RUclipsr so users will not think that they are trying to cover up the issue.
@@Vinson. kindly contact Samsung on Twitter.
You might wanna ask Unbox Therapy. He usually addresses these problems publicly.
I haven't had that problem, are you out of your mind?
For selfie i prefer to turn off the master Aİ and adjust the brightness by pressing on screen..
the front facing camera. for the new version of the phone is terrible.
Probably 3 months without charging
Also one thing, which no reviewer is pointing out are the transitions; when we change the modes in the camera app. Only iPhones and Mate 20 pro are speedy with the transitions. If you don't believe me, try changing the modes on OnePlus 6T or Samsung phones. The transitions and the time it takes is VERY SLOW😶
People were saying only the screens made by LG had the green screen problem. I ran a device check and I was so glad that my phone screen was not from LG. I have been using this phone for 3 months now, it is a great phone! (Other than it is more expensive than I what expected. I thought Chinese phones would be cheaper.)
make a video with honor view 20 full review :D
Top review I have it as my daily driver and another thing I would mention is updates seem to be very quick from Huawei software version 1.83 is due soon with smoother guestures and camera improvements and of course security patches
awesome! that'd be great
I cannot wait myself
My issues with m20p after 2 months:
Gestures don't work with other Launchers
Camera interface is horrible and can't be customized
Always On Display is a no featured joke
Front camera has extremely shallow dof, everyone behind the main subject are blurry
Cameras can be earth shattering fantastic, but they are not very consistent, its a lottery
I found that the HDR mode is one of the best overall modes to shoot, yet its so hidden in UI its criminal
Screen rotate can be sluggish
This is all compared to Samsung experience (I switched from Note line after 8 years!)
There are many many things to like, these are just the flaws that not many people are talking about.
I doubt the S10 will even rival the Mate 20 Pro.
The S10 does't need to as the Note 9 is already a superior phone to the Mate 20 Pro.
Max Troy not true in the slightest from all the reviews etc I've watched, it's Defo the best flagship out there at the mo
S10 may have 5G chipset
@@maxtroy8511 note 9 is old.
Max Troy so true the note 9 is ten times better and offers the better package including headphone jack.
I reallly like your channel. The information is always very clear.
I recently switched from S8+ to Mate 20 pro, did not regret the change.
Particularly love the night mode settings for the rear camera.
I had used mate 20 pro for a month. It is the best phone I have ever use.
& i still didn't bought that yet
Still using P20 pro from last 7/8 months 😂
how is your experience with it??
@@softwolfie12 Simply Just Amazing , Mind Blowing , Im enjoying
Can’t wait for the P30 Pro
me too, I bought my p20 pro at an awkward timing in last july, I dun wanna buy a mate 20 pro now. still contemplating to wait for p30 pro or even longer for mate 30 pro.
The gluegate issue has been fixed, I have no problem at all
from 27.11.18 use my mate 20pro don had any problems everything is ok.
Watching on my mat 20 pro
Not to be a cynic but how can a phone become obsolete in 3 months????
I mean title says askes 'Still Worth Buying' after just 3 months LOL
There are phones coming out almost every month.
3 months too with my Huawei mate 20 pro, et je L'ADORE !!! 😍
XD
Op 6 is beautiful
One thing that annoys the heck out of me with the mate 20 pro is, because i watch alot of RUclips, the sound tend to "smartchange" (?) To what im watching and makes the sound go lower which makes me sound like im deaf on 1 ear..
With gestures - you can swipe on either edge, both edges will take you back. Which is really smart 👍
I got the mate 20 pro and ive been using this for a very long time and i never get bored using it i deffinetly recommend this phone
Watching on my mate 20 pro 👍
Congrats.... Excelent review! Very old shool, complete with all key points! Best regards from Portugal!
In China the 8gb Ram with 128GB space is around 720 pounds (6400 RMB). Love this phone.
First like, first view and first comment . And i love to have mate 20 pro. I always been huawei user since mate 1.
Currently i am on P20 pro
Greeting from china, our pakistan brother,I' still a huawei Mate 9 user, huawei is best for an Android device.
let's wait for p30 pro, I bought my p20 pro last July.
@tesla i have used the entire mate series including mate 9. Mate series is best one
yep wubin. Waiting to use mate 20 pro and will use p30 as well someday
I am using Mate 20 Pro and I did not regret buying this instead of note9.
Could you advise where you got your office chair from, please? Thanks
Great video. Is that a smart watch on your wrist?
Is hauwei mate 20 pro still having issues with screen in UK?? Anyone know?
It's a manufacturing issue, if your model is defective, return it.
I love mine mate 20 pro. Went from s7 too this
Same here I did the same s7 edge to mate 20 Pro on launch day. Love the phone best I have ever had.

@Bibi Rai My Phone No problems at All. The only thing i hate is when i write the keyboard goes down 😂 dunno why it only does it on messenger. Sorry to hear about your Phone. My gf have the p pro 20 and No problems right now
I have s7 too, did it take too long to get used big screen and no home button?
I love my mate 20 pro. The reverse wireless charging is not for smartphones but for small gadgets, such as wireless earbuds, even electric toothbrush and wireless mouse as long as it supports Qi Charging. When you are on a trip, the reverse wireless charging really ease your mind.
Hi Tech Chap, should I get mate 20 pro or s10+? I’m currently using an iphone 7 and am always facing the issue of its battery life
I'm still thinking between huawei Mate 20 Pro and Oneplus 6T. Hard decision! Thank you so much much for your feedback. I can't wait for the next video! 👏 🍾
Get the mate 20 pro
I'm loving my Mate 20 pro, there's nothing I'd rather have as a complete package.
However, I'm having some issues with the in-display fingerprint reader. It gives me a ridiculous amount of false negatives so that I find myself reentering the fingerprints almost every couple days, sometimes multiple times in a day.
Any recommendations or fixes?
Dope setup behind!! 🔥❤
Hello I am a big fan to your channel, I need your help to choose between two monitors that you had in your channel last few months. Witch one will you recommended BenQ ex3501r or Asus xg35vq? Plz help😀
Thanks for this review, I have one question though, can you tell me if the phone is really water resistant or not
I got mine almost two months ago the fingerprint sensor was very irritating so I put it off. The facial recognition is so sensitive so whenever I looked at the screen it unlocked. I've used two screen protectors and they're both useless because they don't curve around the screen properly so it never fully sticks and Peeled off eventually. But other than that. Totally love it. Can't afford the watch though.
what you gonna prefer...note 9 with s pen, head phone jack ,micro sd slot, maybe good camera and 4000 mah pf battery..or mate 20 pro ,with incredible camera set up and 4200 mah battery??

Pls tell me which is better to buy mate 20 or mate 20 pro if I'm more concerned about camera and music.
I'm an ald Sony fan but recently I think I'll have to change as sony is ceasing its business in my country. I wanted so much to buy an xz2 as it's tge latest here and sony didn't release any set later.
Do u think that I'll suffer from a gap between Sony and Huawei regarding performance in the long term? Or mate series are really good and reliable?
Pls help me to choose..
Just a tip with the gestures issue.. I found I had the same problem until I realised you can swipe from EITHER Side to go back 😏 find this much easier when I'm holding the phone in one hand
Love your reviews!
I have a "green issue " over 2 months now. I know, I need to send it for repair, but how... It is so hard. I am almost like Smeagol and "my precious"

I got it for 200 pounds brand new after 11 months of release. I think it is the best value I can get on any top end phone.
what screen do you have in your mate 20 pro, is a LG or Boe.
it would be nice you do a test for the green screen.
So did you ever get an option to clear notifications?. I'm getting this beauty tomorrow
the only use I can see fir that reverse charging is for accessories
Use FOOTEJ cam instead. It has a manual mode where you can disable totally the beauty effect by playing with less brightness and a few tweaks.
After using iPhone XR and huawei mate 20 pro for 3 mos, which do you prefer?
Not sure the front facing camera is "Beautifying" the subject but more so that it's a fixed focus lens so the focus doesn't change... which for a self cam is a bit redundant. I have this phone and love it but the selfie stuff is trash.
Well.. Im still using the mate 10 and for me is still very worth it.
Great 3 month review. I also have the M20P and love it!
I have a P20 pro & love it the only thing that would stop me getting another Huawei is if 5g is restricted, I also have a Huawei Watch 2
I have the p20, my partner has mate 10 pro. Both have great camera, excellent battery but both have issues with vibrate strength. If it's in your pocket on silent you won't know if someone calls you. It's noisy when using it when typing to. Is mate 20 Pro the same or is it better?
I have few things that bother me, that I didn't expirience with Samsung S8 edge:
1. You can't adjust volume for the message notifications and the ringtone. So if I make my ringtone louder everything, even the WhatsApp notifications come super loud.
2. Not compatible with the smart watches, other that the huawei ones.
3. Not good steady shoot video mode. I think the Xperia z5 and this can't compare.
same with me..from iphone 6 plus to HUAWEI MATE 20X 5G... THANK YOU HUAWEI
Hi bro, i'm using HUAWEI P 20 PRO, yup, twilight design is so cool and 📸 triple cameras are cool, but internet issues i'm experiencing is little bit slow, emoticons slowly diminishing as i'm using the SMS from a certain period of time, so far i'm enjoying the said unit. =) It is close to the unit you are explaining anyway, thanks, 🆒 dude! 🥂 NOTE : LOVE YOUR SHOW, GREAT!!! 👍
Are you blind? It takes amazing pictures 😂😂😂
