If you are going to do an interview with Harvey, if you don't know Harvey at least do your research properly. In my view Harvey was the best. He was not born with a silver spoon and he had to work hard all his life for what he achieved. Harvey was my childhood hero and I thank him for some wonderful memories, and for giving me the pleasure of an interview at his home in 2013 for Gravity FM. Harvey Smith, Top Man.
Harvey and I knew each other when we were boys, I used to attend the local riding school where Harvey used to hang out, I was overwight and a hopeless rider and used to fall off everyhtime I tried to get my horse to jump. Harvey never laughed at me. We used to enter our dogs at the local show Harvey with his sheep dog and me with my airedale. Harvey's dog could do all the tricks like breaking an egg onto a plate and my pedigree airedale, which my parents had paid a lot for, would win its class. Our paths took different directions. I went away to school and then University and qualified as a doctor. Years later I revisited Eldwick where I grew up and a cheery voice confroned me with hello Roger, What are you doing? I rather proudly repled that I was a doctor. Well Harvey what are you doing?.He replied modestly." I am living on top of the moors riding horses." He did not tell me he had a helicopter and was one of Englands top riders,! I only found that out later.
