Something that really urks me is that from 2:11 to 2:42, the themes played don't match up with the character that is being shown behind the souls. The themes go in order of appearance in the octet (Phase based), like in the original video for phase 7 during the second slow section.

Yep, Ending Time Octet in reality is Cage of Abyss with 4 chapters:
1. Ending Time Octet (ETO Phase 1-5 on YT)
2. End and Beginning (ETO Phase 6-7 on YT)
3. In Miserable Hell (doesn't have a OST)
4. Constellations' Extinction (same as 3rd)
