    I recommend reducing the Reflection Deoth to 1. This way you get rid of most unnecessary Reflections, which also reduces the Rendertime drastically (40-50 Seconds instead of 120 Seconds for 1 Frame). Also reducing the Ray length can help to reduce the Rendertime w/out any flaws in the Image.

      Hey Janis, thanks for the tip! but where do I find the reflection dof?

    • @dogdaydesign
      @dogdaydesign 7 лет назад

      I think he means Reflection Depth and you find that in Render Settings > Options.

    I don ´t know if it help, but some people have som problems witch opening exr files in one sequence :)
    I render project with 160 frames. for each i ahve one EXR file. It means 160 EXR files. In AAE choose import multiple files ( crtl+alt+I) and choose all EXR files. Before hit open. look at the left down corner. You should have there " Open EXR Sequence" check it and you hvae one EXR sequence from 160 exr files. I hope i helped to someone :) anyway Great tutorial

    • @cheetahrawr4463

      Mσgdäηs
      bro i beg you can you please help me, i render 480 frames in 16hours, trust me if i could buy a better processor, I would, that is not the point. The problem is that when i try to import the exr files, AE doesn't import them into a single sequence instead it imports them into a multi sequence, one sequence per multi pass effect (shadows,ambient,diffuse,etc). So i don't know how to combine them all together. I am stuck...a bit disapointed in this tutorial, he skips the steps about importing the files into AE...i mean of course I'm new to editing...but aren't tutorials targeted to an audience that is learning about the softwares? why skip such an important step, damn it.

    •  9 лет назад

      +Cheetah Rawr than may be try to save the 3D data part as a aec file. you can find it in the save tag in the render manager. That works for me

    • @cheetahrawr4463
      @cheetahrawr4463 9 лет назад

      Mσgdäηs i will try that. Not sure sure what exactly op did to import those files, as for me, i followed every step of the tutorial and then got stuck, thanks again for the reply and your time. Wish he could me make it more clearer for us new dumb people.

    Its a shame that you don´t show your "tinkering arround" cause it looks like such a cool tut. I found it tough to get the lights right and the aliasing, .
    When I opened it on after effects hexagons are not glossy like yours, in fact pretty much looks like crap and I followed your tutorial to the line.
    Gonna try to get that glossy look of yours but I´m new to this.
    Any help?

  • @powpow5669

    Okay so I did this for a website background. Except I didn’t animate it so just modeled it and Rendered following the steps you showed. So when I do go into after effects in the xtractor I don’t get the option of different layers in the drop down. So how would I go about editing each different later like you did ? More Specifically I would just like to edit the glow on after effects.

    Say you are comping in some chromakeyed video in this. Would changing the workspace to sRGB have an effect on the video? Would one need to use the cineon converter or something similar?

  • @RealDealRC

    I am definitely no pro but you should create your projects in 4k so they are future proof. Speed and render times can sometimes be unbearable but I'd think it would help you in the long run :)

    One question: After rendering out the animation you only got this one single file, that you added in After Effects? So I won't get for every frame about 7 or 8 pictures? This would be great :D

    • @CreativeDojo
      @CreativeDojo  9 лет назад

      Ladcraft Correct. The OpenEXR file is special in that it holds pass data all in 1 file. You can extract different passes out of it, but everything is 1 file per frame.

      +Ladcraft can you help me please? i get a bunch of exr files for all the multi passes effects. When i try to import in after effects it wont allow me to import all the files as one sequence, instead i get a multi sequence option which i tried and i end up with 8 different sequences , one for each of the effects. Wish this was a proper tutorial. It took me 16hours to render 480frames and now i'm stuck/

    • @Ladcraft
      @Ladcraft 9 лет назад

      +Cheetah Rawr Hm when I tried I could import all Exr's as a sequenze without problems. I'm not really familiar with this technique, i can't help you, i guess :/ Sry!

    is there a way to make the hexagons come up individually instead of in groups of two

    • @HEXCODESexe

      You *might* could try to make the Randomizer of the size of the hexagon?

    • @HEXCODESexe

      What do you mean? They split or so?

    • @andygarcia5270
      @andygarcia5270 6 лет назад

      Pretty damn late lol, but the same thing happened to me. In my case, it was because the fillet in the Caps section of the "Top" and "Glow" parts of the hexagon kept turning off. I kept turning on automation, red button next to "fillet", for the fillet itself and disabling that fixed it for me (so that I didn't have to keep enabling them).

    Great tut and big thanks showing how it's done. I am very fresh in C4D so this my 1st. ever rendering of anything from C4D and just now my multipass render is at 35 frame, folder Passes contains 35 EXR files...Yes, render up to now is taking 7h and 30min...despair is on my face and since you said that there should be only one EXR file I am more and more convinced that I did something terribly wrong...BUT WHAT???please say something, thanks :)
