first trip was 6 months ago. im 23 and was always a huge mckenna fan for years... Mushrooms changed my life, im happy and no longer feel suicidal whatsoever. I have a great girlfriend, a great career, and im thankful for everything in my life.. ill be honest, the trip was sad, but i look at all my friends and family and peers, and see how hard we are all trying, collectively to make this work. it was beautiful to see and i went from looking at people in hatred and wonder wtf are you doing with yourself, grow up a little. but after a 2.5g trip i see everyone through an empathic eye, we all have our issues and worries , but we are all going to be okay. its okay to be scared, its okay to feel. Mushrooms taught me that emotions are part of it all and that we must face them head on, or they'll eat away at you. deal with it now, say sorry, organize your life and maintain it. good luck

I have been using "Magic Mushrooms" for 50 years. I use what my friend Terrence McKenna called "Heroic Doses" and while it is not for every body it certainly is always an enlightening experience. I found the same to be true of LSD. I quickly got past the recreational use of LSD and Mescaline so by the time I "discovered" "Shrooms" I approached them as an introspective learning tool. I am now 70 years old and still use mushrooms for introspective enrichment. To suggest "once is enough" might be true from certain aspects but isn't really suggesting objectivity.

Mystics are the people who are able to integrate their unusual experiences, whereas psychotics fall apart, and more often than not, destroy themselves and their loved ones as a result of their illness. Mental illness isn't some happy accident mislabled by the scientific community... Its a real thing and can be absolutely horrifying and tragic. Idealizing it as mysticism in disguise is naive nonsense, but your point is appreciated because I agree that mystics swim in the same ocean as schizophrenics. However, that doesnt make them the same. One is relatively stable while the other presents a truly horrifying spectacle that ends in hell for the person and their family. @Shawn Camburn obviously every single person who has ever existed is unique and each has his own reality. the homicidal maniacs the groups like Slayer sing about are luckily rare. but i would still listen to what one had to say for a short time if i met them...Charles Manson (who never killed anyone but many people think is on that kind of level) said some very insightful things in some interviews and i got something out of it.
it may depend more on how you would define "mystic" exactly, but just because someone kills someone doesn't make their thoughts any less interesting...moreso, because frankly i'm sick of listening to talking heads who spew their manufactured reality, and the mindless sheep that take it all at face value while they collectively destroy the world....very sick of it.
in fact, i'm going to go hunt down an interview with Manson right now...thanks for the reminder.
here's a fun fact for you: in prisons, murderers are accepted into the population...it is the child molesters that don't survive. think about that for awhile....even murderers have a moral code...

i used to suffer from horrific headaches when i was younger. They came on suddenly without a cause seemingly and nothing helped with them. Since it was back when i was a silly teen and had absolutely no comprehension of what mushrooms are capable of, when someone i kew offered to go picking and then drink the brew i was up for it. I expected a fun, maybe a little scary time, but i definitely did not expect or even think that it'd stop my headaches. And it did. I do not know whether i suffered from cluster headaches or somethig else, but i know that after a few separate occassions of experimenting with psyloscibin my headaches became a thing of the past. It didnt even occur to me that they could be behind it at all until i watched several documentaries which spoke about their relieving effects on cluster headaches and i was absolutely dumbfounded by that knowledge.

Never once have I witnessed a more fluid articulation of how profound, in both the realms of well-being and mental deterioration, psychedelic consumption can provide to the individual. I just changed my minor in college to Psychology, and psychedelics were a large influence as to why I made the switch. This was inspirational to say the least. This makes me want to dive into books and just research. I'm going to use this as my parent's educational introduction to the comprehension of what psychedelics can provide to humans. I agree. For some people, once a lifetime is enough. I think for most people, that don't have any diagnosable mental condition, once every 5 -10 years can be beneficial if used correctly. The best way is to be in a quiet, safe location (like your bedroom) and to focus on yourself and how you view and interact with the World - particularly with those around you. Without this, we tend to become "locked" inside our own ego and lose the ability to think objectively. This is particularly true as we get older.

I have been experimenting with mushrooms on a weekly basis for the last 3 mths - usually take some on Fridays and Saturdays. I used to take them years ago when I was younger, but usually at much higher doses - usually recommended by clueless male friends who like to be buzzed out of their brains. Now I only take enough for a pleasant buzz, not enough for anyone to even notice I am high. I can still do most of my household work, but do not drive on them. As a woman going through menopause, they have helped a lot. I have alot more energy, which is why I primarily take them. Also makes for a very pleasant weekend. Food tastes incredible, music sounds so much better, and a walk in nature is amazing. And no hangover the next day. And super cheap compared to alcohol. A quarter is only about 35 bucks in Canada, and that means that since I have about 1/4 gram per trip, I can have about 28 trips (which last for about 6 hours), so one trip cost is under 2 bucks. I highly recommend them - just know your dose. Never had a bad trip yet.

First time I ate mushrooms I had drink 5-6 beers(didnt know what i was doing and wanted to act cool) and all i could think was "stop poisoning yourself" and the beers started to taste like rust. I started to listen to Terence McKenna and find more about mushrooms and other psychedelics. Maybe a year later I took "just a gram" and it was life changing.
    Great video Tom!!

I had an experience on mushrooms in which I was in my bathroom and staring in my mirror and I started to feel like I was being pulled upward and downward at once, I could see in my mind my body being stretched like a stretch Armstrong.
The feeling was unlike slight amusement and then I returned to normal.
Then all of a sudden I felt my bathroom shot up into the air what seemed like three hundred feet, then it slowed down and stoped in mid air for a moment then started to fall slow at first then faster and faster.
This happened several times and the feeling was so real i thought it was happening, my stomach was going up and down, I felt the pull from the force, I moved with the motion it was so real.
Then I left and went to my guitar room where I sat and closed my eyes.
After a while I found myself in oblivion with no sense of anything.
Then I felt a sense of comfort so strong I could only describe as pure live, a love which could never be felt in this world.
I began to feeling myself become present in a alternate plain in which all things where contained including God.
I was touched by a universal consciousness in which I was aware of all things in the universe and I knew all things and was one with every thing within.
The sense of being touched by a force which provided complete awareness and which impressed a sense that there is a higher force which is pure love in us all and we can be one with it or we can reject it.
The feeling I get is that this would is a mystical and spiritual plain in which we are connected to and one with.

There was a study which showed that it caused neuron activity to increase and bridges are formed between parts of the brain that otherwise would not exist without the experience.
Your brain can operate at a level where you see solutions to problems that others can't. "How did you do that?" Become a common occurrence.
Can't explain it I just see the energy and how it flows to make my life easier and have a better understanding of the world around me.

I’m under the impression that this essentially takes your mind and turns it inside out and projects it in front of you. It fascinates me that you can experience something like a holodeck. I know I know wishful thinking but the idea of relaxing and drifting into the ocean of your own mind in a sort of lucid dreaming really piqued my interest. I’ve had people say they were fixated on complex academic subjects and when they took a trip to the inside of their mind they saw the solutions but in a deeply profound way. You mention things that aren't often mentioned int this context. existential dread, derealization and such.
Psychedelics are a dynamic thing that can cure and cause these things, in most cases mushrooms are positive. but people should know when you're taking something that dramatically changes your perspective, it may not change in a postive way every time.
I had derealization for a very long time before i ever did any drug, and micro-dosing is that finally brought me out of it. I think the most important thing is respecting the drug. Great video.

If you're at a psychological block or crossroads in your life, it can definately restructure your mind in a positive way as long as you're in a good environment like in nature. Also taking it in the daytime seems more peaceful probably
because of the light sensitivity that it creates. If you're around people make sure they're good people like close friends. It can be a life changing experience, like shifting into a new gear or stage in your life.
I've tried it a few times in myblife a long time ago when I was younger but You only need to try it once and it's like connecting to the universe. You sound traumatized so doing this under the right conditions would restructure your brain waves and could replace or erase that trauma in that area of the brain.

I feel compelled to applaud your efforts; however, I'm not one to comment on RUclips videos (this may actually be my 2nd or 3rd comment ever lol) so I'm going to give it my best shot haha.
Your video is arguably one of the best encapsulations of psilocybin mushrooms I have ever seen on RUclips or any other medium.
You were successful in remaining relatively objective, highlighted creditable research, and did not propagate the "shrooms are for hippies/teenagers" misconception that permeates the mainstream consciousness. In addition, the direction, editing, sound quality, and length of the video were executed very well and allowed the content to breath. In my opinion, your video could stand up against most "professional" network pieces and not look out of place at all.
Your video transcends the subculture and gracefully subverts the mainstream perception of psychedelic mushrooms. This is both impressive and showcases your command of the medium.
It's clear that a lot of thought and creative energy went into this video and I'm genuinely impressed by your work. In return, a lot of thought went into this comment in an effort to adequately recognize your artwork lol.
If you made it this far, thank you for creating such an incredible examination of this topic and I hope your video helps positively alter the perception of psilocybin. Thanks!

First time: good experience. Woke up and for the first time in my adult life had no social anxiety.
Second time: this one is the big one. During this experience my kundalini awakened. First I was just chillin in my room. Then- it hit me like a wave- I suddenly entered a highly enlightened state and the rest of the trip continued like that. My awareness was permanently raised and I have been evolving in the kundalini process ever since- though for a long time I didn't know exactly what had happened to me. Spirituality became the focus of my life- it became my life- it couldnt not become my life. I was previously not "spiritual" at all- but what I'd seen and what had happened to my awareness was undeniable.

It's been tried to give LSD and other substances to "Schizophrenic" patients (back in the 1950's). It is told that the experience, was told to be comparable, but not similar. Psychosis, is more like the effect of heavy use of stimulants, the literature says.

For me it's about finding the right dosage. On 2 - 3 grams I've had the beautiful healing experiences both in silent darkness and out in nature, for me it's the ideal dosage. On 0.5 - 1 gram it was once enough for a happy little trip and twice it just left me somewhere in between realities, a bit drowsy. Yet the last time I upped the dosage to 3.5 of some quite potent shrooms madness ensued and left me to defend myself from a spiritual attack by some insect humanoids. That's what it felt like at least, it wasn't comfortable at the least, but I took 2 g again the two weeks after and had a nice trip that confirmed to me that was a one off when I took too much. I'm a skinny lightweight btw so for me 3 g could be the same as 5 g is for someone else. So yeah the point is if I had taken say 5 g instead of 2.5 g on my first time out maybe it would've scarred me even more than I was at the time and not opened the path to healing with this wonderful medicine I take once or twice a year.
