#dreamglider #configuration - Наука
I custom configured a glider there once with Gerhard and he was amazing! Really allowed me to do some special things with my ASW24e. The biggest one in some ways was letting me delete the standard sliding window for a simple 100mm diameter hole. I was able to fabricate a backing plate of thinner Lexan to be the seal and used the supplied 100mm curved discs to make my own clear plugs, with two thin stainless steel springs putting the back pressure on my little pop out window. The ventilation “loss” from the loud tip out scoop was more than compensated by greater simplicity and better optics. No rails or big rectangular window made for much better view.
Thanks @JasonAGregg Do you might have a picture of your 'construction'. Sounds very good!
so nice, you're living the dream of an self-launch glider ❤
Hi Stef, very glad to see you soon with a brand New beautiful Self launching glider, you deserve your Dreams coming true!!! With electric power, you'll stay in the air 7/7days, call someone for lunch deliveries !!!🤭🤭🤩🤩🤯🤯👍👍👍
Thank you!! Or I will just land for lunch and self launch again ;)
@@SteFly You will need to go to a fly through. (Video oppertunity?) :p
Wow .. congrats. Can't wait to see you create some amazing soaring adventures with it.
It would have been helpful to explain that this is not the usual situation for purchasing a new glider. For most people they do not simply walk into a manufacturer in January and have a completed glider for the World Championships in August of the same year, no less AERO in April. Most popular sailplane manufacturers measure the waiting list in years, not months. Perhaps you ordered it a year or two ago and now it's time to finalize the configuration? If Schleicher is sponsoring and/or giving preferential treatment by expediting your delivery in order to make the worlds that should be disclosed so everyone knows this is not the normal course of business.
Yes, that´s true. The waiting time for an AS33 Me is several years. Production capacity is limited and every glider needs 2000 - 2500 working hours.
This video shows the configurator and options you have when it´s time to finalize the order.
@@SteFlyI’m sure you’ll have many hours of enjoyment in your -33. Schleicher makes great equipment.
@@NWA320DRVR Thank you :)
Congratulations! Its amazing glider.
Thank you!
Have fun Stefan!
Have a lot of fun with this glider
Freut mich zu hören, vielen Dank :)
Love it . Congrats Stefan
Thank you very much!
Wow, That is like all your Christmases have come together!
Congratulations on your dream machine!
More than all Christmases ;) Thank you!!
Beautiful dream machine Excellent engineering with mostly with all modern gadgets . Congratulations from India / Bharat 🇮🇳
Thank you so much!
Thanks a lot for the vid
Really nice ship! Looking forward to more videos with the 33 Me. The wait for delivery can't be too long since Uvalde is in August?
My glider will be displayed at the AERO exhibition in Friedrichshafen from 17. - 20. April. It´s currently in production ;)
I love that glider, just started flinging it recently (AS 33 Me)
Awesome! :)
How do airfields feel about trailer charging? I imagine it might affect their insurance.
Good question but I don´t know.
For the interior I would recommend you Delux by Gagula.
Thank you. Didn´t decide yet which manufacturer I will choose. I also like the interior of Interieur Albstadt.
Guys definitely need a bigger screen to make 3D presentations for their costumers👌🏻
That’s true 😅
Hi Stefan,
wieso hast du dich für eine AS 33 ME entschieden?
does the electric have similar range as a fuel sustainer? how much different if any?
sir please can you tell me whats the price for your glider.
i also want to buy one
congrats on your one.
Uvalde this coming August? We will be down there to tow
Yes, then we will meet there :)
Hi Stefan. I am from Russia. My english very bad, sorry if i write wrong. I realy hope you see my post.
Today I saw your channel for the first time. I'm very impressed with your flights. This type of flight is not popular in Russia because the price is high. please tell me how accessible this type of flight is for people in your country, how much does a glider cost? Thank you, I wish you good flights and many big emotions in the air.
gz!
Hi Stefan, completely unrelated question but what kind if watch are you wearing?
Hi Florian, it’s an Oris ProPilot watch
Do you really fit in the glider? 18 inch wingspan? That's very small even for RC glider. In the intro you said this. 18m of course, congrats, a great Sponsoring deal. Until the Aero you have to fly your old one. That's worth waiting.👍😊🇫🇷
I definitely said 18 meters of wingspan in the intro. At least that´s what I hear when I listen to the intro ;)
@@SteFly at about 12 sec from beginning you said 18 inch, then in a second take you corrected and said 18m before entering the office. No problem, everyone knows it's 15 or 18m.
@@ralfkruse7565 Get over it.
Let's go
Will you still fly your LS3, or does it have a new owner?
I will still fly my LS3 aswell ;)
How much is it?
Hallo Stefan,
kommt das Video mit Captain Joe noch?
LG
Fred
Also was wäre je nach Konfiguration möglich?
hey loove it. Can a non-buyer acces the configuration tool somehow ?
At the moment it´s no online configurator. Perhaps they will make this accessible in the future?
Another question, are the wing batteries easily removable ?
Yes they are removable but it´s nothing you should do all the time for recharging. That´s why it's good to have the trailer charging setup and I will also install solar panels + a battery in the trailer.
@@SteFly What battery capacity will you put in the trailer?
@@Ca99-iz2ey The current idea is about 4 kWh. This should be more than enough for a normal launch and day of flying.
@@SteFly 4 kWh could correspond to 1 h in cruising speed or 20 min climbing?
@stefly will you bring it to the GP in Norway?
Yes, that’s the plan
@@SteFly On the SGP website it now says about the Norway SGP: Updated info 19.01.2024 - this event will use 18m class with 50kg/sqm max wingloading (was 48kg/sqm) - was that you, Stefan 😁? Club class feeling with no water seems fun!
@@ThermalWave Not only me. There are some other pilots who want to fly with electric self-launch gliders at the SGP in Norway. We should think about this wingloading limit rule in general...
@@SteFly as I understand, it's done on purpose so that the gliders are more matched / more competitive gliders are available. V3 and JS1 would suffer when AS33 and JS3 can get to 60kg/m2 while they can't. On the other hand, at the moment the newer gliders with smaller wings get a little disadvantage since they are lighter in absolute numbers. Looking at the races and results so far, it seems pretty fair in the sense that glider choice seems to not matter much for the results.
@@ThermalWave I think the fairest option would be something in between wingloading limit and weight limit. To limit the max weight/wingloading for safety reasons makes sense in mountain areas.
yessssssssssssss
Where does the ash-tray go?
Traditionally it's a hinged pop-up lid on the stick, but these days that place is blocked by the LX remote stick (or in Stefan's case, his own OpenVario remote stick). Like in cars, they're disappearing... but we've got USB power from the panel now, or even from the sidewall as the Schleicher guy suggested in the video.
There's a smoking shelter by the tailfin 😉
Next to the cup holder.
somehow I just love watching rich kids with their toys . it does feel like Christmas doesn't it
It's not just toy you see it's all about lot of effort he put.it's awesome work.no one can't do this like him.
although i shouldn't be surprised that you can customize so much on new gliders these days... i'm surprised that you can customize so much on new gliders these days
:)
💯❤
Rich boy and his pleasures
At about 09:30, when he says go to the interior, an ad appeared with an internal shot of a Lotus car 😂
Finally good advertisement of RUclips 😂 I don´t have any impact on the topic of the ad
@@SteFly But I'm sure you'd love a Lotus interior! 😄
Why not Ventus?
At the time when I ordered the glider, I didn´t know about the Ventus E.
As I´m currently very happy with the ASG29, especially with the ergonomics and luggage space, I think the AS33 Me is still the best choice for me.
Hey Stefan, Are you not concerned by the additional wing loading that your’e married to? Fine in Uvalde but the empty weight of 415kg is high with pilot we are approaching 50kg sq/m before any water. It does look like a beautiful machine as with all AS gliders and really looking forward to your videos😊🎉
Hey Steve, at most competitions we don’t dump the complete water ballast even in weaker conditions. But of course there might be one competition day at some point where a pure glider would be better.
For me it’s a great compromise between a competition glider that allows me to make expeditions and gliding safaris.
For all normal XC flights it’s absolutely no handicap and at some days I don’t need to ballast the glider with water. Must feel like Club class in the morning 😅
@@SteFly Going to be really interested to see how you get on. Love the idea of electric but for touring my 31 is great and I think the 35 in 18m will also be great. We should get together and compare! Looking forward to the Larus display.
Was kostest denn so ein Schmuckstück in etwa ?
Oder ist das das Betriebsgeheimniss von Schleicher.😉
I'm also interested about this question. Can you give a price range to get an Idea of the cost of this dream machine ?
If you are really interested in buying a glider you should just contact the manufacturer and ask for an offer. Somehow none of the gliding manufacturers publishes prices on their webpage.
For a new AS33 Me with all the accessories, avionics, trailer, covers and ground handling equipment you will end up far above 300.000 € (incl. German VAT).
Thanks much appriciated!
This is wonderfull , but you can enjoy gliding by flying in clubs and their less competitive gliders . Gliding can be affordable for all .
Yes of course you can! And you can also have a lot of fun flying more affordable club class gliders, like a LS3.
@@SteFly Or the K8 and K6 . I made a few circuits with those ., I could fly with any glider and enjoy . I've been flying my LS3A for 34 years and still enjoy every minute .
I thank you for making gliding known to all the people here , it's a rather unknown sport or I'd rather say passion .
I have used a compass on the top of my glare shield for over 20 years, and, of course, never looked at the compass course. I put white marks at 45° on its face. They’re great for judging your bank angle.
Unfortunately, I have a blue tint canopy in my used Shark MS, and recognize your issue with filming from the inside. I have tried to compensate using the white balance adjustment. Do you know what adjustments can be made to the camera to resolve the issue? The blue tint is nice for one reason, I don’t have to wear a hat and can put my camera on a head strap that holds it just above my eyebrows. I use a DJI action 2, which is small enough to fit there quite nicely. Unfortunately, it heats up rather quickly and I can’t get more in about 15 minutes of film without having it rest.
Nice idea with the compass. I have currently the option to add one additional Air Control Display and then put the compass on top of the instrument panel cover. Not decided by now.
The white balance is very difficult with tinted canopies. On the inside you also have distorted colors and on the outside it depends on the angle you are filming through the canopy. If it´s a flat angle you will have more blue plexiglas than on a 90 degree angle. I think it's impossible to get a perfect result but at the end it doesn´t matter too much. The experience is more important ;)
And I also use the DJI Action 2 from time to time on my head. For shorter videos it´s fine and I love the perspective.
Other than a vertical card compass, which I did use to tell me which way the runways were, I have only used a compass twice. Both times on extremely hazy days. However, the LX has a compass so I have no idea why a compass is required equipment. I can't find a whiskey compass in a F-22.
It’s………an airplane.
I only have a glider license.
Oh dear the worst choice of the 18m electric self launchers................
By far it´s the best choice at the moment for me.
Down to the gym for you to build up the muscles to rig the heaviest 18m electric self launcher........ have fun watching Kawa going sailing by in the D4 :-) (if it's ready)
@@soaruk3697 Therefore you can use a one man rigging aid. It takes a few minutes longer but at the end it's always better for your back. ;)
There are only two certified 18m electric self-launch gliders available on the market, which are competitive for a WGC. Both have their pros and cons. The propulsion system of the AS33 Me should have about 30% more range, it´s allowed to selflaunch with 600 kg (important for comps), it has luggage space where I can store the charger and some additional equipment for a gliding safari. Aerodynamics, ergonomics, built quality and safety of the glider are great. For me that's worth to accept a few kilograms more weight. At the end everyone has their own preferences and specific application for the glider.
There is no best or worst choice here, don't be ridiculous Soaruk397, this is a brand new state of the art sailplane and its probably quite incredible! Im sure it is a rocket ship compared to most of the sailplanes that the majority of us will ever have. Your damn lucky Stephan, don't take it for granted. I love this sport like you do, and I could barely afford a 2001 hph304cz17 - its pretty damn nice though. I certainly couldn't pick out the interior colors!@@SteFly
@ There will be 4 very soon, if we rule out the LAK17CFES. I would have waited - plus the 33 doesn't really seem to be doing too well in comps lately............. those old 29's still seem to be giving them a good run for the money....... including at Uvalde for the last 2 years....... Why is selflaunch at 600 kg important for comps? They generally have towplanes. and the JS3RES can fly ay 600kg as a 'turbo' - plus has the greater flexibility of easily removing the batteries for the really weak days....... but lets see what the 'vintage' V3 and new D4 bring to the table.............. p.s. can the AS33ME fly with 15m tips like the JS3RES can?
first :)))
Congrats :)
