the lil animal rant reminds me of that tv show “Zoo” (pretty sure its actually based on a book) where like all the animals on earth become infected with some virus and start banding together and attacking humans. it was such a little banger
honestly, I really believe long shot was mislabeled as just a basketball romance by booktokers. I came into it naively thinking it was gonna be majority romance based off of how tiktokers were speaking about it and I swear I spent most of the book in mental distress. It's a beautiful book that brings awareness to a serious topic and the lives of so many women around the world and though it has a great romance- romance is definitely not the center plot.

It's interesting you finished Long Shot when just yesterday I finished reading "The Favor" by Nora Murphy, which is also a domestic violence thriller. It isn't super graphic but still gets the message across. It shows signs of domestic violence, why victims don't leave, and so much more. It was written by a lawyer who dealt with domestic violence cases. It's about two women, each in abusive relationships and they end up killing each other's husbands as a favor to one another. I think you would really enjoy it

I definitely get the romance vibes. I need DRAMA. Give me the family drama, the tension, the jealousy. Something objectively entertaining to keep the romance alive. Those are the kind of romance books I like.

With the whole Zoo thing I question it to the point of why remove from their habitat not how they are a conservation system is. Like the Bronx Zoo their animals that are there a good chunk of them are for making sure that species don't go extinct because of the poachers and the fur community
as a natural hair girl I can say that the mielle deep conditioner probably had that effect because its a strengthing treatment and may have a good amount of protein in it which a lot of people's hair is sensitive to. If im not careful I also experience the sudden matting of my hair or its like my hair gets retangled after I already detangled it outside the shower
i need the book club to choose a sports romance because i wish we could've spoken about long shot. long shot was SUCH a good book. definitely rating the neighbour favour a 3 unfortunately but LONG SHOT!!!? omg definitely triggering but so so so worth it.

These Violent Delights is the first book of the series so you can test it out to see if you like it or not, the beginning tends to be slow but it does pick up as you keep reading!
