The Majlis: A Meeting Place. The Digital Opening

Caravane Earth Foundation welcomes you to the Majlis. Fahad Al-Attiya, the Managing Director of Caravane Earth, will introduce the foundation and guide you through the main stages of the project’s evolution. Thierry Morel, the curator of the Majlis, will speak about his work on the project’s components and its concept. Architects Simón Vélez and Stefana Simić are going to tell us how the construction came into being and what makes bamboo such a groundbreaking material. Morrocan craftsman Ahmed Chmitti and the women weavers of Boujad will tell the story of the traditional fabrics that make up the walls of the structure. Landscape designer Todd Longstaffe-Gowan will lead us into the garden of the Majlis that will become a part of Abbazia di San Giorgio Maggiore after the Biennale is over. Finally, researcher Jonathan Cornwell is going to announce the program of the Majlis Symposium and present some of its key participants.
