Got some bbq pit boys vibes here! I’m not that much of a replier. Watched most of your videos with interest and more important I learned a lot from it.
Thanks for that! Looking forward for the next one!

It's definitely a good cheat! I mean if it looks good it looks good, and I agree with you that otherwise the specimen of lumber would have otherwise rot.

Great to see the tree doing so well, thanks for the followup. I have a big cedar trunk that will be tanukied as soon as my whips grow out a bit more. Also my two pines arrived in good shape and are better than I had expected. I am tempted to order a couple more of the exposed root/ROR ones just to give me a couple more to experiment with. Have a great new year-Larry

I really like the perspective of bringing an ancient, beautiful piece of deadwood back to life!

Who cares if it is cheating or not. The tree is beautiful and it pleases the eye. I wish to have it in my garden 🌳

I have a big Tanuki and everyone points it out. It’s funny but it feels like cheating.

@Daniel-nh7xm being a Bonsai Artist myself, who dedicates himself tirelessly to the art of bonsai, as well as, painting, drawing and sculpting. I don't find anything offensive about making a joke. There are plenty of jokes to be had about the art of bonsai. Work with them long enough, you will laugh, cry, and scream out loud with joy and frustration. Many perspectives to view life from. Hope you have a blessed day!

@Daniel-nh7xm how so? John Naka talked about tanuki. Many Japanese artist including Mr Kimura has talked about and created tanuki. Tanuki are displayed in Japanese shows. So where is the offensive part

To determine if its cheating or not we first have to define the rules. Does anyone know where we can find them?
