    Aba was never the capital of Abia state, It grew due to it's commercial nature just like Onitsha in Anambra. A capital city is not necessarily supposed to be the most developed or nice looking. It's just supposed to be an administrative city.

    Aba is still suffering from the destruction by Nigerian government offensives during Biafra Nigerian total war ., it is yet to recover from the wanton devastation. I grow up there and i saw everything working so well before the war including cleaner city, public pumps for those that did not have water pumps inside their compound. Clean motorable roads/ gutters and regular power supply among others. The Aba population have multiplied and there is not enough infrastructure to support these over population and urbanisation .The state government is not very creative in raising revenue and transparency in it is expenditure. We are yet to experience the spirit of No Victor And No Vanquish.

    Aba has never been a state capital, right from when Abia was carved out of the old Imo State, Umuahia was made the capital. Aba has always been a major city in Nigeria, when you mention lagaos, kano , in terms of commerce, Aba comes next. Aba used to be the Lagos of Igboland but absence of developmental leadership saw Aba suffer neglect in the areas of infrastructure. The federal government's refusal to help development in igboland just as they are doing in Lagos and kqno, meant Aba was left on her own.

    • @favourkalu8586
      @favourkalu8586 3 года назад +3

      You're actually blaming the Federal Government who for the neglect in Aba. What should the Feds have done in Aba that they haven't done? Is urban planning and development in the states the responsibility of the Federal Government? The same FG electrified the entire Ariaria int'l market. Lagos State was denied 3 years + of statutory allocation by the Federal Government and nobody, not even the Yorubas whined about it or used it as an excuse to encourage underdevelopment in the state.
      We Igbos will do well to stop trying to shift blame to people other than ourselves. Generally we Igbos have proven to be not as skilled in politics as they are in economic and commercial activities. We have a knack to selecting the worst among us as our leaders. The much criticised Muhammadu Buhari has executed much more visible projects than any Governor in the Southeast, Umahi inclusive. Sentiments aside, it's pure facts.

    You are very correct ( old ) PH town planning was designed and implemented by the colonial authorities . Aba lacks enforced town planning. Onitsha has few districts that where planned by the colonial Fegga, American quarters , and GRA. The network of roads in these districts says alot.

    Abia State is a part of the NDDC. Aba was developed first by Michael okpara, the former premier of eastern region. I love the greenery and road network.

    Aba looks derelict. It needs massive urban renewal. The buildings here look so ancient as if they are stuck in 18th century. Repainting the buildings is a good start.
    The best of all your city drive has been Enugu and Abakaliki. The rest need serious work .

      No city has better new building than Aba. Eboh shut video from Ogbor-Hill to Factory road, Aba-Owerri road to Eziukwu road. You don't expect new buildings there. Go to Azikiwe road, Hospital road, Jubilee road, Ehi road, Market road, Tenant road and you'll surrender.

    Your job is incomplete you didn't show the indigenous people of Aba Old Port road, Urratta road, Ariaria market, Ngwa road, new market, etc these are the very areas that are terribly bad. Some waste bins on the streets of Aba.
    Also encourage ndi-igbo to come home and develop their place not running to Port Harcourt. See Awka and Owerri. Onitsha, Asaba, Enugu and presently Ebonyi.
    The Abia state government can also extend capital of Abia to Aba create enabling environment for speedy development.
    Peter Obi did it in Anambra he extended capital territory to Anaocha LGA and developed it.

    Aba wasn't built by the westerners. It was built by Sam Mbakwe of blessed memories. The right word to use is planned by Sam Mbakwe. Never a capital City of any state, be it Imo or Abia depending on the era. A commercial city of old Eastern Region. Before you make videos of a city, do your due diligence n stop misleading your viewers with falsehoods. Indomie generation.

    he chose the area he wanted, let him take us to Ariaria "international" market, ngwa road market, always flooded because of trash that are never cleared.
    When people go to the market, and it rains they get stocked in their stores because they cannot go home For flood.
    The size of the mosquitoes here are the sizes of birds. Do not be deceived my dear.
