- This is just how I do it -- it's quick and I rarely crack old intake boots doing it this way -- wiping down the boots with Marvel at the end not only preserves the rubber boots - it will soften them a bit overnight -- I didn't show it in the video but Always stuff clean rags in the open intake holes while the carbs are out

Awesome. You make it look easy. This bike makes me miss the '78 GS 750 I rode all over the place a few years ago. Great bike.
You are a life saver man. Thanks. Keep posting videos
It's actually available over there (order in) .. But the best way I've found to get recipes for stuff is to read the MSDS for the stuff in question
I'm running in the mid 10's on the blue one - The black one I'm running in the low 11's... Handling is good for a traditional bike but I recommend a good fork brace and a set of IKON's (same as Koni's) or Fox's on the back - Also for a rear tire I lean towards a Michelin Touring tire to compensate for the slam they have (the dampeners/cush drive in these leaves something to be desired)
could be a thrust washer yes - peek at the blow up for your starter clutch and look behind
@BGS002 I did a rebuild vid on the old Mikuni sliders a while back -- easy as pie -- clean em out is all they usually ever need... These old 750 Suzi's are about the funnest twin cammers to work on -- clean, simple - very little to go wrong... My personal keeper out of the Suzi 750's is a 750X - thing pulls like a freight train and 100mph all day long doesn't even phase it (although I do have an oil cooler from an 02 Katana on it and change my oil every 1000 miles)
white lithium grease inside the boots and on the outside of your carb snouts. and it's a beefy wiggle to get em to go in and seat
yup -- that's usually just old brushes and a dirty armature (those dont melt their windings too often)
Great video. I just rebuilt a set on my 77 gs750 but seems like only cylinders 1.2.4 are getting fuel. There is spark from the number 3 plug. Any advice?
I've got the spare for my 550E which I think is the same but I promise you I've soldered and recoated those windings and cleaned the commutator so many times you'd be better off on ebay. - if you buy a used one just be sensible and put in brand new brushes and springs before you put it on the bike saves the hassle of doing it in 6 months
Is there any way you can do a cleaning of a 1979 suzuki sp370 carburetor clean out
Any suggestions on rejetting my 78 gs 750 with airpods?Still using 4 into 2 stock headers with aftermarket slip ons. Should I plug the 2 carb vac ports left after the 3rd goes to petcock? How bout needle setting? They are at the 3rd from bottom notch now.
im thinkin of making it a cafe racer but I think im gona restore it to stock but idk where to find the burgundy paint
I just recently found an old suzuki gs 750l In a barn. I can't get it registered in Florida without an original title so I tracked down a frame and title. The bike is for the DMV to have a record of it. would a '78, '79, '80, '81 frame be compatible for all these years?
Getting the carbs to fit back on all four air cleaner gaskets is next to impossible
I have a question I just picked up a 82 gs750 and there is a round nipple between the 3rd and 4th carb if u are sitting on the bike. idk where it goes the bike runs and drives but leaks fuel out the carb I didn't know if u could give me some insight on this
hello bud, in the uk what would we use as in place of the mystery oil stuff
I just removed the air box from the bike and put it back on about half an hour ago, easy, why leave them on the bike but the rubber on the air box is to small and hard to fit back on, that is why I am on here. but Marvil and grease is the info I want.
got an old 1981 suzuki gs750L. shes in good shape but seams to put off thicker smoke from time to time from the exhause and closer to the top of the head. the bike has a difficult time idling, wanting to die every 30 seconds or so if you dont give it gas; the pattern changes from its consistant normal rpms to a quick drop in rpm. is it possible a leaking head gasket is to blame for these shinanagins? it sure seams to leak from the head gasket when it has been parked after getting it hot driving
thanks alot i apreciate the info
Is this procedure possible with the gas tank still attached and gas turned off?
I have a 78 the exact same but it's in boxes it was given to me so I'm trying to get her put back together any advice or info on these bikes are they good bikes
i have a 86 suzuki 550l i paid 500 us dollars for the starter wouldnt work so i pulled it and it it works fine hooked to directly to a battery a friend said there may be a missing washer that goes behind the fly wheel or the little gear that transfers the starter to the fly sorry i dont know the terminology please tell me is there sposed to be washers or not thanx
i have the frame together now but the forks will only turn to the right and not left idk if there's a part im missing or what please help
You didn't mess up and put a tree backwards peek for what it's binding on -- too long a bolt used somewhere? improperly seated steering head bearings?.... Steering lock engaged but not in the lock position?
A fresh set of brushes is under 10 bucks -- under 50 if you take it to your local electric pump motor shop (might have to go to 2 some hate DC stuff)
Rock solid machines if you take the time and treat em right -- If you have her apart anyway go on ahead and put in new cam chain tensioner and guides....
CLutch wise -- ditch the stock clutch, go with a Barnett and you have eliminated their famous "going into 3rd slip"... Oh and maybe it's because I aint too easy on em but spend the big bucks on your front sprocket -- I've shattered a few of the cheap ones and usually just as I hammer on it coming away from a corner
you have any starters for that bike 86 suzuki 550l
so i have to rebuild it im sorry to sound like a dummy this is my first bike and i really apprciate the help just dont have much money for error just buried a son a new starter is five hundred eleven bucks new and how hard is it to rebuild if i can get a kit
is it possible the starter will spin off the bike but wont have enough ass to crank the motor
Thanks
if u still read this i found out the magnet is broke in the starter of my 86 gs 550 does this mean the starter is shit
HEY MAN, U FUKING CRAZI NICE GUY, I LIKE YOUR STUFFS. GUESS WHAT ? I TOOK IT OF FROM MY SUZI GS750 1978, BUT I FIRST TOOK THE AIR FILTER BOX OFF(JUST 2 SCREWS)YOU KNOW THAT. I WANNA VISIT YOUR PLACE SOME TIME.. SEE YAH
Call about 20 minutes ahead of time - I only live 5 minutes from the shop but I'm not there much lately 941-451-4318
so is this bike any good performance wise
carbs have to be out to pull the airbox on this one - it tucks back into the frame
more likely a bad valve cover gasket... those heads Rarely pop a gasket.. But the varying rpm : i'd be looking at checking every intake boot clamp, every rubber vacuum test port cap (and the vacuum petcock line) giving the carbs a good cleaning - and perhaps adjusting the idle to 1100 to 1200 rpm (as per the service bulletin not the manual).... if your leak is between fins it could be a head gasket (VERY RARE) if it starts above the fins it's most likely just a valve cover gasket
Ok thanks, I just had it off a few weeks ago, guess it's coming back off, lol.
Do you have any idea what the symptoms would be if that PCV breather was disconnected from the air box while running? I'm hunting down either fuel or air starvation at high throttle. Thanks for the vid!
Pretty much leaves it non-rebuild-able ... only because at that point an ebay starter becomes cheaper though
yup.. but oooohhhh that's a lot of extra hassle
theres reason #82743 why I switch to pods, fkn airbox is nothing but a pain in me arse!!!!
Why not pull the airbox first? You get tons of room. That's how I do my 850 anyway.
armenian smr sounds like you have a vent/overflow tube that wasn't routed up and over the top of your carbs.. or a float stuck open - e-nag me a pic on facebook of the nipple and I'll look it up to be sure
May I suggest next time you make a video you not block the line of sight with your arm and hand.
You want professionalism in the videos Hire a pro to shoot em .. I may be good at many things but using cameras are not among them (unless you ask me to repair one -- I'm actually pretty good at that part)
im only 17 and 160 pounds and I can kick this bike over no problem lol
