People say SAO sucked but it holds a special place in my heart for being the think that started my life as a degenerate weeb and I honestly loved this anime and know why some people hate on it but it’s great for me. (Holy crap a lot of you guys actually agree with me and I see a couple of comments saying why it was bad but just because one part is bad doesn’t mean the rest of it will be bad it’s basically just like judging someone on how they are on the first day like they could be very nervous and be a clutz and you base how they are on that day but you just focus on the one thing that makes them bad and not the good that comes from it) ( edited 4 years later) Golly I was 16 when I wrote this some parts are embarrassing but I still place sao grand in my heart and been playing more vr and hope for a full dive sometime in the future soon
Owh boy, this brings back memories All those times I’ve been watching SAO till late in te night, till early in the morning even. The times where I would do nothing but watch SAO during a vacation. When I went to school each morning and we discussed every single thing that happened during an episode. The hours of practice, trying to learn these songs on the piano. But the best thing about all that is that I never once regretted doing those things. This might not be the best anime ever might, but no matter what people say, this anime leaves a mark. A mark that makes you almost cry because of all the moments you’ve seen while whatching this anime. A mark, irreplacebly by whatever other anime. This is, Sword Art Online! Amazing Not to mention the soundtracks too (thats even better)
well yes you´re right, but in my opinion this anime is definitely one of the best animes every created, you can´t stop watching it, even if you know the anime already. Im definitely ready for the 25 episode that should come out in october :)

SAO was the first ever anime i watched, and honestly its still my favourite heres an anime recommendation if you want a short but sad anime: *Plastic memories*
Honestly the writing may not be the greatest, but you’d be a downright fool to deny that this is truly a beautiful anime regardless. The OST is incredible and the animation only improved with time (seriously like the newer seasons have gorgeous animation and impeccable scenery and visuals). Kirito is also surprisingly very well written as a protagonist. I think the way they handled his trauma and PTSD from sao was done in a very mature and realistic way, and is just overall very well done. Even if the story can get pretty bad with its writing time to time, the characters have some level of decent writing.
This nostalgia feeling of 2012 and now that im a grown up I havent watch anime that much like it used before. Finishing 1-2 season per day (hahaha! Idk what to do in my life back then) and now that Im obsessed with games and getting my degree, I awfully forgot that my fav anime such as SAO been forgotten in a while. Theres love and hate mix up with this anime tbh, i personally hate the harem but love the story. Im glad I cross into this marvelous cover. For those who's around 13-16 yrs old who read my comment 'there's nothing wrong being a weeb and being fascinated with anime. You'll a lot from it without noticing and just have fun! It was my first anime too! I was REALLY sick (with bronchitis/pneumonia) one night and couldnt sleep so I flipped through the channels. Saw it and started watching. The episode was the Player Killer one. I was hooked! Been a long time since then lol

The source material is from the early 2000s. It took them roughly 8 or more years to make the first anime adaptation for material that was already out and finished.

Not entirely the "first anime" that i watched, but it was the "first" anime that i knew was anime. And it was what led me to the anime hole in the first place, so it has a special place in my heart.
This may be not my first anime too... But I liked this anime for a good reason... Hell... I loved anime mostly for the songs. Elementary... I started my anime at elementary so the first genre that got me is Mahou Shoujo. Ya know Card Captor, D.N Angel(shounen), Tsubasa, Nanoha, Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch, Sailor Moon... Ya got it. I also got hooked at Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and Tales... For their soundtrack. As I grew... I watched, sang, and read anime and manga's. The soundtracks are just amazing! You bet that I sang all of these songs in SAO and got lyrics memorized. I still sing many songs up to this day, I really don't record my singing because it's a hobby that I do everyday and I have no recording equipment. I have great memory at words... But at others... Nope. However, just as the anime industry has flourished... Their music are the same!!! They keep evolving... I got addicted at their stories and music...

Season 3 is good but the cliff is too wide, we need to wait for the end of this year (2019) for the continuation of the alicization which was said to be on hiatus. Damn. But good anime imo.

SAO might not be the best anime around, but it's the one I grew up with. I watched these characters struggle, and I struggled with them. I watched these characters laugh, and I laughed with them. I watched these characters grow up, and I grew up with them. Now that the light novels are finally coming to an end soon, I can't help but reminisce about all of the good times I've had with this show and these characters. They are forever going to be a part of my life, no matter how old I get. It's the same feeling most people probably have over shows like Pokemon or Yu Gi Oh. For me, that one show will always be SAO. From now until eternity.
There's also a feeling that once you've watched your favourite show to an end, you feel like all is lost and want more eps..... then you think about your life...
Sao was one of the greatest anime’s I have ever seen. It keeps me wanting more and when it ended I was sad. BUT THEN ALICIZATION CAME OUT AND I FELT REGENERATED.

So much nostalgia in this video. Any anime song that can make me tear up is from a great anime. Guilty Crown, Tokyo ghoul, SAO and Charlotte, from the top of my head.
The playing was great as usual but in particular, the visuals were great and i think that's what sets you apart from a lot of other pianists. Hoping for the same when you reach 50k!

Not entirely the "first anime" that i watched, but it was the "first" anime that i knew was anime. And it was what led me to the anime hole in the first place, so it has a special place in my heart.

This may be not my first anime too... But I liked this anime for a good reason... Hell... I loved anime mostly for the songs. Elementary... I started my anime at elementary so the first genre that got me is Mahou Shoujo. Ya know Card Captor, D.N Angel(shounen), Tsubasa, Nanoha, Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch, Sailor Moon... Ya got it. I also got hooked at Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and Tales... For their soundtrack. As I grew... I watched, sang, and read anime and manga's. The soundtracks are just amazing! You bet that I sang all of these songs in SAO and got lyrics memorized. I still sing many songs up to this day, I really don't record my singing because it's a hobby that I do everyday and I have no recording equipment. I have great memory at words... But at others... Nope. However, just as the anime industry has flourished... Their music are the same!!! They keep evolving... I got addicted at their stories and music...

SAO might not be the best anime around, but it's the one I grew up with. I watched these characters struggle, and I struggled with them. I watched these characters laugh, and I laughed with them. I watched these characters grow up, and I grew up with them. Now that the light novels are finally coming to an end soon, I can't help but reminisce about all of the good times I've had with this show and these characters. They are forever going to be a part of my life, no matter how old I get. It's the same feeling most people probably have over shows like Pokemon or Yu Gi Oh. For me, that one show will always be SAO. From now until eternity.
