Cost of Living in Sikkim - Work From Mountains (Pelling)

- I have shifted to Sikkim and moved my base to Pelling! Life in the mountains is slow and peaceful :)
This vlog will tell you how a typical day looks like in the mountains, as well as other essential things like accommodation, cost, market, food, etc. and how life has been in the middle of the pandemic.
Lockdown is not that strict. Movement is allowed in Pelling and vehicles are still running. However, inter state movement is restricted.
Some important notes -
1. WiFi is extremely good in the place where I am staying.
2. Vodafone and Airtel work the best.
3. There are tons of restaurants and cafes to eat out from, however, currently most of them are shut
4. Pelling is a tourist town. All you will find over here are hotels and cafes with 0 to no local life.
5. Car/bike rentals options are extremely difficult and scarce.

Sikkim is most beautiful state of india 🇮🇳...infact whole North east is hidden gem 💎of nature

I've stayed in Pelling for a week as a tourist.And everyday after long tours I stop in the Helipad every evening and sit there for a while before i enter my hotel room.Thank you for taking me back to my old memories through your video. ♥

I went to Pelling in 2002, when I was 8 years old. I still remember eating momo there for the first time.
i am in love with the eastern music and culture. i feel like a connection when i see the architecture and the beauty of the culture. and food ofcourse. sichuan, tibet, sikkim etc... i love it.
I have been to Pelling in 2019. I stayed at Lower Pelling. The view is breath taking with snow laden mountain peaks and chirping of birds. The best place I visited in my life so far.

All the places are very beautiful. I literally miss my days in Sikkim, literally all the places are very beautiful and peace everywhere. Will definitely visit again after this worst Covid goes away. Cant wait to watch the mesmerising mountains with full peace.

Sikkim is so mesmerising.. You need to visit Zuluk and Nathang Valley. It's so beautiful and very less travelled. You'll find quite a lot wooden homestay at Nathang valley near the school.

What a coincidence I stayed in the same home stay in last December and want to go back. Helipad is the best place in peiling. How is the wifi? I found the biggest issue is a god wifi for work from home.

As hotel 900 is definitely cheap but as rented house or paying guest its costly...should have been around 500..i was also frequent to sikkim for last 4 years b4 lockdown
Its just wow place where u stay.last month 20-26 tak hum log bhi wohi pe stay kiya tha.and enjoy all the day and also enjoy the food.and bijoy vai bhi bohot hi acha cook karta hai.lovly.

This place is more clean and beautiful than that of Himachal... Need to be branded more by Ministry of tourism dept in India.

Thinking from a WFH perspective, how is the internet quality in Pelling, a speed test number of your service provider would be a real good help.
Not great. They have electricity issues as well
if you are thinking WFH perspective from mountains go for Uttrakhand rather than Sikkim .. broadband was 100-150 MBPS , also Jio Wifi gives 4-5MBPS speed , I stayed at Pithoragarh for 6 months in previous lockdown ..electricity is also decent

Pelling is a really beautiful place but I can understand that how difficult it can be to travel 9KM for shopping 😂. All the best for your stay in Sikkim 👍🏼

Glad that you chose Pelling. I am staying and working in Sikkim for the past five years now. I always felt that west Sikkim needs much exploration unlike the east and North much sees a lot of footfall. As an outsider living here for half a decade now, I can vouch that Sikkim helped me grow emotionally.
Hello friend! I have been to sikkim twice and thinking of moving there as I work online. My work involves 8 hours live video calling everyday, is internet good enough in west sikkim for 8 hours video calling per day?
@@charliewilliamson881 hello there! Well to be very honest connectivity issues are there. I stayed at west for one and half years and I found both Airtel and Vodafone working fine. jio too works but at certain locations. Like where I stayed I didn't receive any tower but just at the ground floor working network was there. Anyways I switched to LAN connection and then I never faced any problem except when the router going off when any day electricity went but that too rarely. Hope this helps you. Been to Sikkim 2ice what significantly makes a mark is its cleanliness and peacefulness. May be you can try places like Hilley Barsey treks not much explored. It's near Pelling

It hits my guilty Buttons when I come late to watch the videos and then think to complain about the length of the video. Dil manage more kya karu but honestly a video takes a lot, and even when you're not able to travel much you still put out a vlog and it makes me so happy to see you still at it and going. I visited Pelling way back in December 2009, it's very quiet and cool place. Infact I was planning to visit Sikkim a month before but dropped my plans owing to current situation. I hope to visit once situation is back to normal
