In this video, I review Tsendze Rustic Camp in the north of the Kruger National Park. Tsendze is a campsite only and is a satellite camp of the nearby Mopani Rest Camp, where you have to check in and where you can buy groceries and get fuel.
Tsendze has 34 stands and no power or cellphone reception, but there are dust bins, taps and braai stands available for campers. There are also communal ablution blocks with hot water and kitchenettes with gas stoves.
Tsendze is known for its amazing birdlife, especially the small owls. Ask the duty manager, Rogers, to show you where to look for them - he knows their movements and nesting sites.
As is typical in the north of the Kruger National Park, game viewing is relatively poor around Tsendze because of the dense, monotonous mopane veld. There are, however, some nice routes to drive along the Tsendze River south of camp, as well as on the S50 past Mooiplaas waterhole and the Nshawu waterholes. Chances are great to see elephants around Tsendze!
I hope you found this video helpful.

Agree with you the Mopani scrub veld is not good for game viewing. Do you know of any other campsites like Tsendze?

There are none other like that in Kruger. Balule is the closest you’ll get in the park.

Yes, you can phone +27 13 735 6535 or +27 82 802 1113. They will, however, still insist that you email them confirmation of your choice after you discussed it over the phone.

Hi Safari Expert - I found your Channel a while ago and became a huge fan of your videos! I currently plan my frist trip to Kruger using your book recommendation, it is such an excellent guide! However, I was wondering how you manage to record videos without shaking? Your Videos appear so stabilized, even when using a tele lens. What kind of tripod do you use for recording out of the car? And how do you record „out of hand“ without shaking? Or do you edit videos afterwards to minimize camera moves? I tested my video cam and did not get close to your quality. Thanks for your help, keep up the brilliant work!

Hi. I’m glad you enjoy my videos. I use a bean bag on the car door to stabilise it much as possible, but often shoot out od hand as well. I do, however, stabilise a lot of the clips afterwards in DaVinci Resolve, which I use for editing, but it will only work if the original footage is not too shaky. Good luck with planning your first Kruger trip! 🍀

Thanks for the quick and helpful response! Will definitely buy a bean bag and improve my editing skills. 👍
