Thank you for this this was very informative and I’m so glad you posted the video. I’m glad that you mentioned that lesson day one is 15 minutes because I will implement the four day lesson weekly as well. just to speed it up a bit to get more lessons done in the week as I am on an accelerated track having my daughter doing lesson-lessons seven days a week. I also wanted to state after your children or one of your children completed level a do you find that it really is the bread and butter of reading like for instance, they can get a birthday card and they can read the birthday card or do you feel like it’s still kind of like the beginning of understanding reading and writing? I’m just trying to gauge how level works in the world with every day reading out and about. Thanks!
You're so very welcome! 🤗 She reading at a 2nd grade reading level. Yes. She can read simple texts such as something on a birthday card. She's also reading books on her own. Some popular classical books include; Little Bear's Friend and the Frog and Toad series.
I’ve been using the horizons phonics and reading curriculum for my 1st grader (she’s used it for k and 1st grade) I’m going to use it again for 2nd grade because it’s made her such a strong reader but I was thinking to use this 2nd grade one too because although they are both phonic curriculums they address the matter in different ways which will probably complement one another.I’m also going to start my 4 year old with “The reading lesson” and then start the horizons with her too .
