I love the lesson. It is very helpful but too much time is wasted showing different views of the roots over and over. It starts to get boring. I want to see the next steps after a reasonable viewing of the roots.
The technique looks interesting. I am uncertain what role the banana plays since the end of the rose cutting goes completely through the banana. How do you maintain the moisture for the potted cuttings? Do you create a miniature greenhouse? Do you water daily, weekly, or perhaps wick water from a bowl or dish the potted cuttings sit in?
Exactly my thought, it looks like a hoax. 1st as far as I know you should keep the cuts as clean and sterile as possible. Using these rusty scissors to produce such a clean cut as seen in the video already made me frown. 2nd I wonder if making horizontal cuts really makes sense. Usually you make like 45 degcuts to increase the area of the green growth layer that is supposed to grow the roots. 3rd the roots originate from a ring around the cut edge, not from any part that had contact with the banana. I'd rather bet the ends were dipped into something like clonex, causing the ring shaped, intense root growth. I'd love to hear about the results from anyone who really tried.
Thanks for this!!! What time of the year should this be done? Do you water the cuttings regularly? How often? What room temperature should they be stored in?
Dzień dobry! I jak poszło? Dziś dostałam bukiet róż i chciałabym je ukorzenić. Pròbowałam banana na innych roślinach i zakociły białe robaki cos jak wszy, dlatego pytam.

Hello, what a hopefully educational video! But as an absolute layman, I still have some questions. So it must be a ripe banana? Why that sand and no other? And what sand do you use after taking them out of the working sand? And finally 1 cutting is that enough for a new rose plant, or better 3 or 4? And last but not least, when is the best time to do it? Thanks in advance and summer greetings from Antwerp Belgium Eveline

You can also use potting mix with sand for a bit more nutrition. Or potting mix and vermiculite which is gentler on the roots.
