I like quite a few of these characters over their American counterparts. Spike and Jonnie are the only ones that I wouldn't want to do without from the US roster. I like Gonzo, wish we had him instead of Pete. Rose looks like a much cooler final boss than Louise.
I just learned today that the characters were changed in localization, and watching these Japanese characters looks wrong. Seriously, how could the Japanese be denied the great caddy Mel?
On the topic of characters, I found out something really cool recently with Hot Shots Tennis that I never noticed before. There are courses in that game which contain characters spectating From BOTH the NTSC and Japanese releases of Hot shots golf 3 and fore in the same courts, meaning that BOTH rosters are in the same universe. Pretty damn cool
You complete the last tournament, bottom right. Or, you can buy her after you’ve ranked as King, the last rank of Tournament Mode, but as long as you have enough points to buy her. And she’s only 9,800 points.

I'm gonna be honest... the Japanese roster looks MUCH better than the American roster. Especially the Japanese equivalent to Jonnie.
