It is really nice to see that he’s enjoying it. I often wonder with these young cubers if they’re gonna grow up to hate the sport cause of all the stress and pressure.
@@accesscrimea yeah that’s what I’m afraid of. He seems alright but I’d love to see an interview with him like 10 years from now looking back on it all and what he thinks about if he was pushed too hard or not. Child prodigies are always interesting to hear from after the fact.
@@wesleytwiggs7687Singapore (my country) has a similar culture as China. And from what I have observed, the newer generation are already treated much better in both countries. I took piano lessons starting from maybe around 7 or 8. When I was 13, I decided not to continue as I lacked interest and I wasn't even forced to continue (this was around the mid 2000s). If you are forced or lack any interest, you won't be able to go far on a particular field, subject, etc... I think that some people are using this stereotype to downplay the achievements of these kids. They don't care if its true or not, it's simply the truth to them. And at this point, it is really obvious that the "China takeover for all WCA events" is a myth and just only limited to 3x3. There is only one person from China at the top for 2x2 and Pyra, so as a country they don't dominate these events. And USA is either first or not far from first place for every WCA event. Also check out the livestream interview on SpeedcubeNZ YT channel with Antoine Cantin and Dylan Miller as the guests.
The photos were a nice touch. They remind me of when I was a kid, collecting and swapping cards of famous football players and teams. That could be an idea! Also that cube @3:33 will be a collectors item very soon! Congrats to Yiheng there will be more records to come for him in the future! 🙂👍
this is the first video that i've seen that shows him casually without the tension of an interview or a competitive situation

The culture of parents forceing them to do it is awful. Very common in China unforunately.
