Hope you would do a episode on singapore football especially on the national team. Singapore last 2 national coaches are japanese and the current new coach , Tsutomu Ogura is also a japanese. Of course, there is a japanese club, abirex which is based in jurong east. A lot of japanese fans too.

I find the mala dishes to be tasty as a whole, but very pricey for vegetables. And the bowl is usually too big for a single person .When we pick maybe 8 items for yong tau foo, it will never reach $16. And that can include a bit of meat too.
So learn to do it at home and you can adjust to taste. More numbness, add more Sichuan peppercorns. If you don't add chillies, then those who can't take the spiciness can enjoy the dish too. Read somewhere that for chillies, you can use Lau Gan Ma chilli crisp. Or if you want it even simpler, use a pre-made seasoning like the ones from Haidilao.

You mentioned that Chicken Rice is from Hainan but it's not, despite its name. HAINANESE Chicken Rice is from Singapore. 😅

Yes, from Hainan, their name for Chicken rice is "Wen Chang" ji....文昌鸡。。。And there is no 饭 (rice) in their description behind....

麻 (ma) = numb; 辣 (la) = spicy. I'm surprised you're a spice Lord 😅 Very rare to see Japanese able to tolerate spicy food. You've indeed adapt Singapore VERY WELL!

My best is so far is SHU Vegetarian in Jalan Kayu....蔬方斋 (Shu Fang Zhai).... It's a vegetarian fyi...i tasted the one in China, ots more super spicy and more "Ma" than our local one .
