Dave and Ry were lifelong friends since they were teenagers competing against each other in the Topanga Bango and Fiddle Contest in the early 1960s. Dave was a co-composer ( and player) with Ry on The Long Riders film score and the sountrack album. The pair toured and created music together in the 80s, 90s, and aughts. Beautiful, beautiful music. Love you both and thank you for bringing joy to our ears. ✌n ❤
Yep, and I remember the young Taj Mahal at those same Topanga B-F contests. And The Rising Sons at The Ash Grove. And Kaleidoscope in the following years. Heady time to be growing up in LA.

Sure wish the cameraman hadn't stayed fixed on Ry playing backup when David took his wonderful solo. Also maybe a more competent audio mix, but oh well, gotta be grateful we have this in any form at all. Thanks for posting.
