The Golf R is has the DSG tuned by APR as well. The Golf R is a beast to drive and the APR Stage 3+ tune makes it that much more intense experience!
The VW Golf R has the Haldex awd system tuned through United Motorsports making the Launches that much harder with the APR Stage 3+ Tune.

I don’t mean to be a lame, but why did you install air ride? Is it more for performance, or appearance? (I just got my ‘16 Golf R and I’m looking for hop ups. I just installed an APR stage 1 flash. So far so good!)

Bro, the engine and dsg can handle this power with no worries?!
Dsg no problem. Engine is recommended from apr to rebuild especially when running the 104 race gas file. Lots of stage 3 guys on stock internals with no problem but it’s always a gamble when modding cars.
You should 1/4 mile this.. sick build!👍🏻 I’m slowly modifying my gti (I’m in HS) hope to someday get an R like this!

What kind of 0-60 times are you getting? I have a 2016 Golf R with the Revo stage 1 turbo. My best 0-60 was 3.5 wondering how close we would be. Also if you know your Whp?

What difference would you say the United motorsports Haldex tune has done? Just from watching your launch control I can tell it is much more aggressive than what would it would be without the Haldex tune. Your gear changes are at 7000rpm instead of 6500?
Antony V the rear stays engaged longer and sooner. It feels less like a fwd bias and more 50/50 at all times. Total changed the car for the better. This is only in sport mode and in D it behaves as normal and with highway cruising on cruise control the rear turns off saving your haldex. I was shifting manual at 7k 👍 the current apr tcu tune short shifts the big turbo even in sport mode
Driven by Boost wow so the only benefit is when ur in sport mode aka aggressive driving or launch controls..... that’s perfect! Switching off the Haldex rears in cruise control is great but if it’s wet and u suddenly need to make a rapid turn because a truck has merged into ur lane you don’t have the Haldex to save you with AWD? Regardless it sound awesome. Wonder if I could get a haldex tune in Sydney. Never felt the need for it tbh n probs would love to drive an R with it to feel it !
Antony V as soon as it detects slippage it re-engages right away, faster than stock! So you don’t have to worry about it. Definitely one of my favorite tunes for the platform. A must have for all Haldex cars!

Antony V haldex should be serviced at 30k or if you’re aggressive every 20k and the haldex tune was $500 usd and I got in on a group buy for it. 0-60 in low 3s 👍

Do you ever miss the faster low end response from the stock turbo? I ask because I have gone with bigger turbos on other cars and while they certainly make a lot more power on the top end, the low end tends to suffer.
I do miss the low end power. While the big turbo R is way more exciting to drive (and way faster) ...I think stage 2 with the oem turbo is the way to go, especially being a daily driver. If I were to do it again I’d save my money and stay at stage 2.

Nice R man! Hoping to get mine by the Fall and throwing on APR Stage 1 asap. With that much power how well does the DSG hold up? Will it need a rebuild eventually?
Hunter H dsg can take a lot and stage 1 won’t be a problem at all, I recommend getting the tcu tune with the stage 1 ecu tune and you should be set for a long time with regular maintenance 👍

Is the car as bouncy and uncomfortable of a ride as it looks? Seems like these cars have horrible suspension
The suspension on mine is fantastic. It has dcc. You can control how tight the suspension is and how comfortable you want it to be
Just curious why you went apr?? Looking into other turbo options, it appears you need to upgrade to LPFP/HPFP depending on your goals, MPI with different injectors and of coarse a tune. I was on APR's site and don't see any fueling upgrades, am I missing something?
The 3+ kit comes with port injection and upgraded lpfp. I’ve always had apr on my cars and had a good deal for the getting the kit. Looking back if I were to do a big turbo build again I would go a custom tune route. Nothing wrong with the APR kit, more bang for the buck and you’ll most likely get more out of your investment. Hope this helps
How reliable has the Golf R been.
Lovely car bro, not to into the colours… for me they have to be black, grey or red. I’d get rid of the air suspension and put some b16 coil overs in there. Only personal preference.
Is replacing the steering wheel hard or quite easy. I’m trying to replace mine but low key nervous on messing up the process
Not too bad. Ten minutes with the right tools. Take your time and you’ll be fine 👍
i plan on getting a 2018 type r and i really wanna get a stage 3 + tune what do i have to do in order for it to atleast not break on me? replace the dsg im sure a lot lol

What setup are you running?🤤 I understand you got an open air intake, but are you still running a diverter valve as the EFR7163 still uses an internal wastegate with an actuator and not an external wastegate, I'm not to sure how it works, but I understand if you have external wastegate you'll have to run dump valve, so um just confused as I would like to achieve similar sounds with my hybrid IS38 turbo, but non the less I'm interested and sounds insane

The ride looks terrible, what possessed you to fit air suspension to this car. Sitting there waiting for the compressor to pump the thing up would be a pain in the arse.
masmainster there is no waiting. It raises instantly and you can drive right away. I waited so the noise wouldn’t ruin the video audio. It rides great and I like it. I appreciate your honest feedback 👍

It would do well up until the higher speeds 100mph plus then the stage 3 R would put bus lengths on it

Driven by Boost i had an apr dp so i just cut off cat and insert piece of stainless steel in that place thats all :) but the sound will change a lot.
Would be better if it were a manual. Aside from that the car is clean

One question bro, I have a 2019 Jetta GLI and I’m getting a HPA is38 hybrid turbo. Can a APR stage 3+ give me the 450hp my turbo can take?
Macho Gang not sure what your asking? The EFR7163 in the stage 3 kit has more top end then a hybrid but a hybrid will spoil faster sooner. Hybrids can make 450hp easily
