  • We often get questions like:
    - Do you know of any medical doctors who went the business route?
    - Can you do your MBA and change your career path?
    - Will it benefit me to do an MBA if I studied medicine?
Well... In this episode of M&M we talk to Dr Chris Mathew, who trained as a medical doctor and then went on to complete an MBA as a Louis Dreyfus-Weidenfeld Hoffman Saïd Scholar, followed by a Masters in International Health & Tropical Medicine as a ExxonMobiil Global Health Scholar.
We also unpack his passion for healthcare and technology, and how the ever-expanding intersection of these two topics will improve healthcare for all South Africans.

In my first year of surgical residency at a large academic center in the US - have never really considered getting an MBA but man, seeing all the ways that business decisions impact patient care in our system makes it feel like an MBA is a need for me. This stuff really resonated - thanks!

I believe dr’s Chris unusual journey surprisingly says a lot of what comes to my mind at this point of my career. I am a fresh graduate medical doctor, finished my internship and have an interest in preventive medicine which is a (mostly) non clinical specialty. Thank you for sharing your journey.
