Finding the Mason-Dixon Line!

A group of volunteer surveyors are following in the footsteps of Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon as they search for and preserve the stone monuments marking the Mason Dixon Line. The Maryland Geological Survey is working to get the stones on the National Register of Historic Places.

Because of that stone, they would have to move the quarry. And leave the stone in its place.

According to our modern understanding, is Maryland a northern or southern state? I believe that technically, it is Southern, but in reality, it has elements of both north and south.

There is so much more history about the line than can be put in a comment. When they got to the West Virginia line their Indian scouts wouldn't go any farther because of the hostile ambushes and the line was paused.
