      @@greenghost-xi5jp It's also where Nanolux and Growers Choice buy. At least Growers Choice use Lonbright(Longhood?), have changed name slightly. I have a great Low frequency, square wave ballast with digital readout, dimming, and boost, no fan, I-64(?) waterproof approved, from Ceramic Solutions lighting in N. Cali, and they/he buys through EBM in China, I believe. Last time he had 630W DE-CMH ballast(same as above), w/double ended lamp for $199, shipping included. So I bought another set! Impressive! He even gave me the newest 3K-R improved lamp, just to try out-Colin is great. Much like Shane, here! I've heard certain provinces are much better, higher quality, while some areas are known to be lower quality, etc. They do have their own patents, and very smart designers, creators in some areas. But, yeah, I have seen exact copies of products specifically in the USA. Sun Supply AC/DE fixture is great, and expensive, but Lonbright has totally copied. That's who Growers Choice gets their CMH equipment from, and they'll label them with Growers Choice emblems, whatever they ordered. This has been done often by big companies. Alibaba gives us regular people these same deals. I was going to upgrade to a 1000W DE-CMH, but only available in 220V. Adding about 400W(5x5 Gorilla tent), but 4-100w Migro lights would give a much more even lit canopy, and the adjustability and craftsmanship, Luminous COB's, most efficient. I had disability back pay coming, ended up a few grand less than expected. Looked all over Alibaba, different COB setups everywhere. Finally found 1 company that makes 100W COB units using 2-50W COB's each on a 1M rail that the COBS can be slid back and forth, as well as turning 350°, and can be angled 180°, which is working well. These only had Citizen CLUO48-1212 COB's, less efficient than Migro's Luminous COB's, and cheap, but workable, but craftsmanship is low compared to Migro, but hopefully stays functional. I still prefer mostly HID lamps, but COB's as supplemental is great. Shane's Migro are definitely higher quality w/better workmanship, as well as better efficiency. And upgradable if better COB's come out. Sorry for rambling on. Migro are Tops in COB's! Leaders for awhile now, and into the future I believe!

    It would have been nice to see the $/ppfd and the ROI for Ebay chips Vs Migrolight ones.
    Ebay white LED (cheap to buy, but require more electricity)
    MigroArray2 (expensive to buy, but use less electricity)
    Question: how many 8 hours days should we wait before we get the same price (buying price + electricity) for a similar ppfd?
    My guess would be that Ebay chips will win by far.

    I have setup a solar electric power system. Is it the driver of the chip a transformer. And would it not be more effective and a better quality light to use a driver chip without a driver to supply the chip direct from the solar battery with the required voltage for example 36v. That can be achieved by 3 12 volts solar batteries in series. Or if I upgrade to a 48 volt lithium battery with a dimmer on to tune to the required voltage. With a driver chip the current have to be dbl transformed with seems a bit unnecessary?

    • @iansammons2730
      @iansammons2730 5 лет назад

      Just to follow up. I did a really half-assed spectrum test (photo of light on flat white background analyzed for RGB), and R/B were virtually identical in perceived intensity. Not exactly scientific, but I don't have a $500+ spectrometer. By contrast, your readings look to be about twice the intensity across "blue" vs "red". My cob however has that "red led" coating you point out on your blurple unit completely covering the leds (I've never actually seen one with that cutout before, 99% of the ones on eBay US are like mine... which would explain the increase in red spectrum at least partly. If you get the chance please drop another $2 and try one of the more typical style. You could also pick up a pure red unit (rarer and a different (looks older) style, but available for about $3 instead of $2) to see if it could be used to balance out the blue-heavy nature of the "full spectrum" without introducing an excess of yellow and green light.
      I'm also curious about your reflector? I've never held one of your unit's but it appears it's built into the lens. How efficient is it at working with these cheap, backed cobs? As they scatter light in a very nearly hemispheric range without a reflector. They are often sold with a very cheap aluminum/plastic reflector/lens, and I'd be curious to see how that setup compared when used with them vs your setup.

    I'm curious, you mention the leds being improved but given the simplicity of the driver the power factor must be feckin terrible.
    I get the LEDs won't be great but surely most of that inefficiency lies in the driver doesn't it?

    • @MIGROLIGHT
      @MIGROLIGHT  5 лет назад +1

      The driver is probably about 70% efficient vs 94% for best in class. The LEDs used would be just as much to blame for the low result. They are only a few Euros each after all.

    I think Shane has skewed the information on this. If you were wanting an input of 35watts per square foot, that'd be about 1.5 foot coverage on an fifty watts. Shan has chosen to test fifty watts cob over a four square foot area. This dillutes the results, therefore hiding the actual efficiency of the cheep cobs. I see lots of praises for the useful information on comments. I actually don't appreciate skewed tests that are obviously skewed to keep the driverless cobs from being competition for him and other producers. That's not scientific or responsible testing. Shame on you Shane. You should redo the tests to redeem yourself in the eyes of the people I've made aware of this.... Adam Bennett.

    You should test the ming & ben Grow Plant A/C 120v COB I got around 40 par 53 watts almost zero green in the spectrum but way better than these you tested and they where only $.75 per one 53 watt COB.

    Your te sd t is terribly skewed on these led Cobs. Do your numbers on a 1.5ftsquare area. You have to know you used too large an area to test a 50 watt chip. You skipped right through it. That ain't cool, shane...

And I know all about nukeheads issues but the fpp in hydro is way better then alot of nutrients on the market. I'm not sponsored. I have grown great results with alot of other companies and for the cost and how I use it it kicks ass. I use it with hydroguard and sometimes other additives. But it really can be used as a stand alone all in one nutrient. Works great when adding any company's sweetener.

      The Muckler yeah bro, unfortunately some things still have to be sourced from China, I own a construction business and over 80 percent of the steel comes from China or India and it’s junk, you can blame that on Obama giving away American jobs to the Chinese, but everything else Cody uses is American made and built in America, by Americans...
