  • The President Martin CB Radio is tiny with a surprising amount of volume from the speaker. When modified the power output increases and the 120-channel mode is enabled. However, you also get the alpha channels as well and retain FM UK dependent on selected mode. A good value and flexible CB radio all round. Well worth a look.
You will have legal obligations in your region with regards to radio transmissions, licensing and power outputs. Expanding a radio may increase its power or frequency range outside of what is legally allowed with or without a license. If you choose to modify your radio then it is done at your own risk. Remember, ignorance is no plea so stay on the right side of the law and double check before proceeding.

At 23:36 Malachite says 73 in Morse code :). At present I have a President Richard in the house. Thinking of buyin a Martin for the car. I'm a licensed ham, delving lattely in CB world, but I have not a particular interest in 10m SSB for two reasons: 1. My habit of working late at night, and 2. My regular HF transceiver (and HF antenna) has 10m SSB anyway. Thanks for your vids! I base my buying decisions mostly on your reviews. Keep posting, please.

It's a lovely feature and both of my Malachite units do the same :-) The Richard is a great radio and one of my go to radios, its easy to use, powerful and has a dial or switch just where you need it. If your looking for a non-SSB radio for the car then consider the Radioddity CB500, its amazing value for money and takes the mid-range radio top spot currently in my view. If your looking to upgrade your Richard then the QT80 has blown my socks off and Anytone have an equivalent unit the AT-6666Pro and CRT are releasing a new SS9900 very soon. All the best and thanks for watching and commenting MJ7NLK

Hi there MJ7NLK. Your video was very informative as usual but after watching I have at last decided to go for the President Richard, ordered from Knights this late Sunday afternoon. Many thanks for your video's . Still waiting for the President Randy III distance test, hopefully coming up soon.
    Kind regards from Richard. 10.10.

Hey Rikardo, the Richard is a dam good choice, I am sure you will be happy with it. Yes will be doing the range test. Just need the stars to align with weather and my helper. Do let me know what you think of the Richard once you have used it for a while. Will be interesting to see if the Walker 2 is basically the same radio as the Richard. That is a test I will be doing soon. All the best :-)

what is the low power on the RF power or is that the mic gain

    • @NLKMediaGroup

Hi there, its an RF Gain and not a RF Power or Mic Gain. The power output remains constant no matter what setting is used on the RF Gain. The RF Gain controls the reception sensitivity. If you want to hear long distance signals then dial to maximum and for closer range signals then dial to the minimum. Its more akin to a squelch control and can be thought of as a sensitivity filter which reduces reception noise without reducing power like a squelch control can do. I hope this helps. All the best MJ7NLK

I guess its like Marmite, some people like it and others not. Double Entendres aside, I hope you enjoyed the video. Happy new year and all the best for 2024
