Asia gets it. Double meaning to the words. They do that a lot.
yeah she would
There's not much double meaning to 'you make a dead man come'!
no doubt, she's the brains of the outfit. bj's o.k., though.
The meaning that you’ve missed is this song is about necrophilia and pedophilia!
And your all celebrating it!
@@dopiaza2006 Actually, it could be taken a couple of different ways: (1) it could be speaking of a physically dead man (which is rather really morbid (not shocking for the Stones), or (2) it could be speaking of a man who is impotent.
Sir Mick is turning 80 on July 26, 2023 and he can still start you up . When people said "Stones Forever" they had no idea it was actually gonna happen !
Chuck Berry is written all over this song. I had the honor of meeting the King Chuck at The Blueberry Hill in St. Louis and asked him who his favorite band ever was and he said ‘The Rollin’ Stones’. He knew who his babies were.
Saw them in 89’ and they opened with this. Shea Stadium was literally bouncing below my feet. People jumping and dancing was actually moving the concrete below my feet! Crazy feeling. One of the best shows I’ve seen.
Saw them in 82 and me and my buddy bought a bunch of the "tattoo you tour" t-shirts because "they are so old this is probably their last tour and these will be collectors items!" lol
Great show. Mick just oozed charisma on stage like nobody I have ever seen before.
Yep, I'm jealous!
@@nealm6764 The Steel Wheels Tour was coined by many as the “Steel Wheelchairs Tour”. Couldn’t have been further from the truth. Although at that point, they were getting up there in age, you wouldn’t have guessed it. They performed like youngsters, and proved to the youngsters that they were still on top of their game. And I agree, Mick was quite the performer. I was amazed at his stamina and showmanship. Just oozed cool.
Halloween 1981 at the Cotton Bowl. I’ll never forget it. ❤️
I was at that show too . The Steel Wheels Tour was awesome and I remember Ron Wood really stepped up on the guitar. Incredible show, great set list.
That’s why they are celebrating their 60th year in 2022. Even at this age they still have so much energy I just saw them this past October and I hadn’t seen them since the 80s and they were still fabulous! Mick is 78 now and I don’t know where he gets all his energy from. He was all over the stage and down the runway in VIP. They were all equally amazing🥰
Lol this made me giggle just like I do when he dances around gotta love Mick 😄
I only saw them once live, in 1978 during the "Some Girls" tour. They kicked ass of course. God bless em, still going strong...
ADRENALCHROME!
Stop worshiping the Devil!
Street Fighting Man, Angie, Wild Horses, It's Only Rock N Roll, Heartbreaker (Doo Doo Doo), Can't You Hear Me Knockin' .. some of their greatest songs...
OMG ! One of my all time favorites! Great Song ,Mick's vocals are AMAZING!!!!!
This song is about necrophilia and pedophilia!
Still your favorite song?
Asia & BJ, their "Honky Tonk Women", "Jumpin Jack Flash" and "Angie" are next for you!!!
Add “She’s So Cold.”
Love the Stones and this song. Waiting on a Friend and Honky Tonk Women 2 of my favorites by them
I was going to suggest Honky Tonk Woman, but I love Waiting on a Friend also...so +1 to these requests.
What no can't you here me knocking?
No wild horses?
Waiting on a friend is fabulous, but I love the stones period…lovelovelove ❤️✌🏻🌸
Yes check out the Stones Honky Tonk Woman live !! 🔥🔥So much phenomenal music from The Stones !!
The Stones were my favorite DIRTY ROCK band back in the days. Love how they merged funk/soul/ rock together. Lots of songs with sexual innuendo. Stage performances were🔥🔥🔥 You 2 would have loved to come up in the 70's. We were blessed to see all these bands live🎵🎵🎵
They have a song for every mood, every vibe, everybody.♥️
The Stones dropped "Tattoo You" when I was in ninth grade. My buddies and I played the hell out of it. "Start Me Up", "Waiting On A Friend", "Hang Fire", "Slave", and "Little T&A" round out a great record. I remember thinking back then how strange it was that the bass player was older than my dad. By the way, back then my folks had no idea what Mick Jagger was talking about in this song beyond the catchy hook. When you're ready for more from The Stones, check out some of those other cuts, along with "Miss You", "Can't You Hear Me Knocking", "Beast of Burden", "Tumbling Dice", "Wild Horses", "Angie", "Honky Tonk Women", "Jumpin’ Jack Flash", "2000 Light Years From Home", "Let It Bleed", "Dance Little Sister", "Mother’s Little Helper" ...
That was the last GREAT album from them, saw the tour with org Journey and Thorogood at Rich Stadium. There is nothing after this that worthy,40 years of nothing ,62 years old, yeah grew up listening to them, but man 40 years of nothing, talk about a loosing streak, every album after that SUCKED.
@@CHAUNCEY.GARDNER. You have no idea what your talking about. They came out with a whole lot of good tracks on the albums they made after Tattoo You. Your just a fair weather Stones fan that's just knows the catchy hits. If you were a real Stones fan you would know that. 🤣
This song is so good live. A lot of times they "start up" their concerts with this one. Most of the times I've seen them.
It's funny, I never read the lyrics even though I have the album.
the stones at there best here, raw and glorious !!
She had that wicked smile on...
They are still doing shows and still sound good !
A little trivia. When Microsoft came out with a new version of Windows that included the "Start" button they paid the Stones millions of dollars for the rights to this song.
Right!! I remember users complaining about the bugs in Windows 95... "Start Me Up ....... makes a grown man cry" 😁
they wanted to, but I'm sure the RS told them to get fucked.
1995
No fair, I was going to tell them that! Lol
At the time I remember Keith and Mick didn't want to allow it because it wasn't cool to sell your songs for commercial use. So they told their lawyers to ask for an astronomical fee so Microsoft would go away. But instead Microsoft agreed to pay it and everyone was shocked.
The two very best Stones tunes...."Shes so Cold" (with lyrics) (Man I would love to see Asia's reaction to THOSE lyrics. That would be MUST SEE viewing) and "Shattered". Both hit me like a brick when they were released. If you could successfully pull off a Karaoke of either tune, you would definitely be the bar star of the night. Of course the obscure "Driving too Fast" would blow you mind equally well.
Those are my two favorite songs of theirs too! I thought I was the only one, after all these years.
Ive debated for years about what is the quintessential Stones song. I have always argued that Shattered is the definition of a Stones song
Slave & Little T&A are good ones too
Yes! Someone else that mentioned “Shes too cold!” Huge favorite of mine! My top favorite is “ Emotional Rescue!” Another that doesn’t get me toned and I’d suck a groove- I do enjoy this one as well- however those 2,👆🏻are the ones for me- 🤘🏼
@@kenkonwick6660 good shout i tend to agree
Incredible band, lord knows how they are still alive but they continue to kick ass
The British Invasion was the young Brits giving the USA back their own music, in their own style. All Blues based rock n roll starting up the Love generation / the Hippie movement!!!
"You make a dead man come" Asia got it. BJ didn't. :)
That happens a lot with these two 😉
Oh he did 😉 he's just a gentleman
"ain't nothin' left but dust baby, .... but I'll never stop"
" ASIA" "HEAT of the MOMENT"
I was like 12 singing that song. A bunch of lil girls, we had no idea what we were singing. 🤣We were just happy we learned the words, back than you had to wait for it to come on the radio and tape it with your cassette recorder.
"It's only rock and roll, but I like it" is a great Stones rocker. Check out the official video with them in their sailor suits and the bubble machine! Wild...
Hence, why they are considered the greatest Rock and Roll band to ever do it, and are still going strong.
The greatest rock band ever. Relevant in six decades.
but never the best band in any decade
Listen closely to the drumming on this song, unbelievable!! Charlie Watts RIP
It was called getting around the censors.
They are coming to my working place this summer, and they are around 80 years old now, legend's
I was young, AND I was a francophone ! Never think about the lyrics... 😄
The Rolling Stones were rehearsing for the tour to support Tattoo You at a farm in Massachusetts, and they played a practice gig, billed as The Cockroaches, at a small club in Worcester Mass. called Sir Morgan's Cove. 300 fortunate people, including three of my friends got in to see The Stones up close. My friends said it was amazing. Duh, of course.
Stray Cat Blues for absolute peak Rolling Stones sleaze
This song is from the album TATTOO YOU from 1981, it was the last great RS album.
That was great!! That was funny! You two are really fantastic!!
" My hands are greasy , she's a mean machine " !!!!!
Yeah, I gotta agree with those requesting "She's so Cold"!
Keith Richards said in his book that this started out as a Reggae song and morphed into what you hear now. I can hear it a bit in the bass line.
Keith’s opening riffs always grab your attention right off the bat.
her reaction to the 'dead man cum' lyric was priceless. subscribing. great reaction video.
A tank full of gasoline with STP, then Start me up !! Hmmmmh , no speeding this is a 30 MPH zone. 😂🎉❤
This was the first single I ever bought as a kid back in the day(damn I'm old), as I used to hear it on the radio and loved it. And I'll be damned, if Charlie Watts doesn't look like he's falling asleep in every RS video ever, and that's why I loved him(always looked like he had someplace better to be). RIP
Asia said it they're slick, innuendo is their bread and butter
I wasn't born till 74 so I missed their initial run of grearness...this was the song I saw as a 7 year old on Mtv and heard on the radio that got me into the stones
Please listen to "All Down the Line" and "Stop Breaking Down" by The Stones! The song's are both from their masterpiece album 'Exile On Main St'!
6:05 What she's thinking is the correct meaning...XXX 💀
Yes BJ we understand what you are saying, it's why in the 60's/70's the Beatles were the ones your parents liked, and the Stones were the ones they hated ;)
One of my mom’s favorite Bands. They been around since the 60s, my mom Loves MOTOWN and THE STONES, She’s 74 now. 🧚🏽
The Stones has hundreds if not more songs, I haven’t heard it all. One I do like also is MISS YOU. From 1978.
What Asia thought Mick meant by that last line? She was spot on and yes, they love to play with ideas and deliberately go over the top.
Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. They originally had this as a reggae song.
The Stones will use this song to start shows.
Strongly 💪 suggested video 📹: John Cougar sings Hurt So Good👍
The beginning of that song is similar to Start Me Up.
RIP Charlie Watts
I'm glad you watched the lyric video. Back in the day it took the rest of us a minute to figure out that last line. Wait a minute. Rewind. Did he just say you make a dead man come? 🤪🤣
This song was a huge hit at the time I first met my husband! We were both working at the same restaurant. Such vivid memories! 🌺✌️
Very Nice and funny reaction. Right on spot on this song. Thanks.
80’s❤️❤️❤️!! So much music from 60’s through 80-90’s!!! Rolling Stones 🔥🔥🔥!!! Shattered is one of my favs and old one, Mothers Little Helper, Some Girl’s is awesome!! So many to mention!!
Saw the Stones in LA @ the Forum many moon's ago...Mick started the concert riding a huge, and I mean huge phallic balloon. 😜👍
Seen the stones here in Louisville kentucky in 1989 they were awesome all the original members jagger srutting on the stage like a rooster lol he is the blank of the walk
8th grade!! awesome!!! when this came out
I don't think BJ fully appreciated the last line, but for the sake of all the kiddies out there, we're gonna let that one slide.
That's one powerful woman 😂
I was laughing so hard watching Asia reading that!! I'm 💀
The young lady got the right understanding of the last line. He missed it completely. Come alive🤨
Woo hoo! Good song! Thanks guys!! 🎵🎸💃
You 2 are great together Asia always has that beautiful smile and BJ is THE MAN the song start me up i couldnt quit laughing at Asia at the end of the song
🤣🤣🤣🤣 "I was just reading the words y'all"
'In code"... you said it. They always do that, at their best. They learnt it from Blues.
Wish they would have actually seen the Stones performing this song while listening.
Seeing them perform this song live gives you a very clear meaning.
I like hearing your interpretations of songs you listen to because even though I grew up with them, you guys often hear it in ways that I may have never thought of before.
So, you have opened up my ears and eyes and made me go "hmmm...okay"
And you make me laugh which is always a good thing.
Keep up the good work.
😚
Have this as my ringtone every time my phone rings it turns a lotta heads every time 🙂
you both heard this opening riff if you are sports fans.almost every game starts with the song.and yes the stones are nasty men, and I love!!!!!.thats what keeps them going.and me.
This is what makes Britain Great when it comes to rock music no one else can compete.
Mick Jagger has a certain way of putting the annunciation where it is needed and if you notice the back up vocals are sometimes a little bit off where Mick Jagger's are like just seconds from being together but they have done this on a lot of their must. Gives the idea that the note is sounding a little longer.
You mentioned the rolling Stones vocals check out on down the line and rocks off
Mick's vocals are all about attitude. His strut on stage is over the top and full of attitude, just like his vocals. It's awesome! 😂
This song was initially recorded as a Reggae piece.
"I ain't gonna stop" :) One of the best reactions on RUclips. I watch it not for the 1st time.
Y’all should watch the video, it pretty comical with Mick Jagger dancing all over the place!
THATS what Charlie Watts added to The Rolling Stones.
Fantastic reaction to a fantastic song. If you can check out the video to this, Mick's dance movements are great - and hilarious. Drummer Charlie Watts can barely keep from full blown laughter watching Mick's moves!
You make a grown man cry start me up thanks a lot
Asia you would definitely the video for this song.
One of the FUN ones we had in the 80s. This one was BIG and played tons.
LOL BJ breakin' it down .
They had to write songs in "Code" back in the day. Being raunchy would not have gone over very well when this song came out in the early 1970's.
It's called innuendo! Prince was a master at it!
Some of the lyrics were wrong, but at the end the last two lines do not end with the word ‘come’. It’s ‘You make A Dead Man cum’ and the line is a tribute to early 20th century African American Blues singer Lucille Bogan, whose lyrics make ANYTHING today seem tame. That was a line in one of her songs. It means exactly what you think it means.
FYI The Rolling Stones debut on the Ed Sullivan Show in the '60s, they played their hit Let's Spend The Night Together but had to change the lyrics to Let's Spend Some Time Together. Times have changed.
gotta watch your next Rolling Stones song with the real video or a live performance - half the fun is seeing Keith and Mick and the band performing... this video is really fun!
Thats what I said. A shame they can't see Mick in HIS PRIME struttin across the stage and the Stadium going wild! They were something...!
Asia, you're right about the last line. It means exactly what you think it means. Yep, she is that hot.
It was a great party song and in fact the Kansas City Chiefs football team had it as their signature song for a while at the stadium. But I remember thinking it was so pop for the time which it really was. Even their comeback album right before this, some girls, is one of those albums worth every single song on it is absolutely amazing and it's still more edgy. And then of course they have a decade or more of material going back before that. They were friends with The Beatles by the way.
Stones are CODE. You got it!
they used to open concerts with this song
Yep, this came out when I was a young teen, and I had no idea what it was about! Just loved it!!! :-)
We took our daughter to her first concert to see the Stones…she was 4 years old!!!😊👍
ROCK AND ROLL ICONS
This was used for the launch of Windows 95, the first real computer startup program that placed software icons on your desktop where all you had to do was click them.
@@curmudgeonaf Well you had Windows 3.1 or 3.11? that would lunch software but I don't think you had the icons on the desktop, unless the software itself, put the icons there. I'm just trying to remember this as a PC user, not as someone who was a tech head. I don't think I used a mouse until Windows 95. It was all keyboard shortcuts.
@@curmudgeonaf Alright, you got me curious on this. If Apple had the icons as far back as '84, and Xerox before that, I would think Microsoft would have had then before '95. Especially with all the stealing going on. So I checked Wiki. The picture of 3.11 looks like I remembered it, you had to click open windows to get to the software. Now you had icons, or GUIs in these windows, but they were not on the desktop.
I've just seen that John Nielson and Raymond C below mentioned W'95 an hour before I did anyway.
One of my favorites! Can’t go wrong with the Stones… they still hold up even after all these years. They even had a song in the Avengers End Game movie, “Doom and Gloom (Jeff Bhasker mix)… Mick still sounds as good as ever.
My ringtone!!! My kids think I’m nuts but my grandkids think I’m cool😂
My teen years were during the British Invasion. Loved The Stones more than the Beatles!. Mick loved James Brown dance moves and often tried to imitate him.
You know what he means. 😄
'In your window'
There is a reason Mick Jagger has 5 grand-children and 2 great grand children... Lol!
This is the cutest, funniest reaction from both of you guys, I love it! XD
Saw them live in Vancouver in 1989 during the steel wheels tour. This is the tune they opened with, simultaneously blinding me with a bunch of fire. I still remember Bill Gates buying this song for his Windows 95 advertising campaign featuring the START button.
