Quite a few people get turned off by his approach and his delivery but that's just his character, if you check out his channel and give him a listen, soon he will be your alarm clock to get up and hustle! He has brought out a hunger in me that sometimes goes dormant. Gary Vee is a beast!
People nowadays get offended like they get payed for it! Literally, it took one 26 minute video from this guy to make me flip like a FUCKING pancake. Sunday, 12:11am and I'm on a break getting inspiration to keep working on my fucking dream. Rock on, sir!
If you run an online business you need an email list, there are many good reasons for that, main one being that you own your qualified audience personal information, not FB. Platforms like FB were not originally built to grow businesses, not to say that you should not use them on the side, but e-mail still works like a work horse if you know how to use it and do not spam the heck out of your subscribers. That is why every major blogger or site ask you to sign up first thing when you visit their websites. A mailing list is extremely powerful.
I've watched this about 19 times and it never loses value. Learn to speak in the age we are living in. What worked 5, 4, 3, hell, even what worked in the last six months to capture an audience's attention, may not work RIGHT NOW. When it comes to building and captivating an audience, Gary is the master. Regardless of what you say Gary, I take notes on the things you say, lol.
What a great place we are in. Spend 15 minutes and Have coffee with Gary Vee. Watched this a number of times and there are nuggets of value here about he psychology of being in the moment. Thank you!
This was so good to listen to. It was recommended to me to watch this for one of my graphic design classes. I love his delivery, and I completely agree with his appraoch to social networks. Just like at the end when he said you act different according to the context of your envrinoment. And the way he says it, it doesn't mean you're being fake but you're adapting to engage with those around you. Took a lot of great notes, and can't wait to apply this to my own work.
My wife is the entrepreneur, not me! She got excited about this video and sent it to me in email. She does that a lot. As usual, when I clicked on it, the first thing I did was look to see how long it was. When I saw that it was a whole 16 minutes, I groaned! lol.. She assured me that she didn't expect me to listen to the whole thing, but she just thought the dude had great ideas. So, I began listening. I ended up listening the the entire 16:07 minutes! You know a guy is good when he can capture the interest of a person talking about a subject that, normally, the person has no interest in! lol Good stuff!
truuguy Just a tip: Use the speed functions in the settings, you can play the video in 1.25, 1.5 or 2X speed. BTW it may not work on all browsers for some reason, I think it's consistently an option in google chrome.
His ideas, thoughts are revolutionary yet so much real and grounded; they seem crazy, but well matured, futuristic , and most importantly humanistic...and as always great speech Gary.
"We have to start respecting the context and the nuances of the room." If you want to create relationships with human beings, it's essential to approach every engagement with respect.
Everybody is complaining about the cursing...I've got news for you folks: this is how people talk in New York. It's raw, it's honest, and to-the-point. And Gary embraces that as his brand DNA.
Love his tonality and "realisms". It's much like my own style when I coach. I listen to Gary speak because he's able to get me caught up on the most important details of modern marketing very quickly...
Gary - I've been listening to a ton of your stuff online and I really like that you speak like a normal dude and that simplifies my thought process. Thanks for sharing your stories.
What I really took away from this all was the importance of context. I always try to compare what we are attempting in the digital space to that which one can get in the analogue (face-to-face) space. One cut fits all never worked in the local hardware store and doesn't work in the digital spaces.
Gary - just watching this video again. THIS talk from 99U is epically relevant once again. It's now 2016 and people are just now telling stories like it's 2011... Would love to see you push this underlying message more! You rock, Gary!
Sure, we all know Gary V. I bought his latest book (and loved it) not because of the great cover or his reputation, but because a friend recommended it…marketers psychology 101. "Get into the psychology of WHY someone is on a particular website" …genius and underutilized strategy.
Love this. Story telling is epicenter of success. This makes me think of how The Fresh Prince of Belair carried a creative story at the beginning of every episode that we never got sick of.
14:00 Cut to the core of "content marketing", being a "go-giver", "give, give, give, ask", what some call "the Law of Reciprocity", etc. "A funny thing happens when you give people a fuckload of value up front. You guilt people into buying shit." That brings it home for me. Thanks Gary.
+Gary Vaynerchuk I didn't know who you were before watching this video. You definitely know your shit! I'm part of a digital team in a agency, and this will definitely help me and my coworkers in crafting more engaging, direct content. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with all of us!
+Gary Vaynerchuk You're Fucking Brilliant. It's clear that your model for viewing the phenomenon electronic social interaction is profoundly different than inertial wisdom. The emphasis on "storytelling" as the noun you use to signify both the transaction taking place (as well as the transitive and transactional nature of the medium & paradigm) is significant and merits further reflection. Also you hit up the comments in a way that is not to be overlooked.
Wildly amazing and informative. Just found you because of your interview with Marie Forleo. In love with your thoughts. My whole problem in business was always what you are telling people to do now, we now have the platforms for it and now I'm going to use them the way you are saying to launch out my passion to the world. Thanks!
Gary V is the man! story telling has changed indeed...gotta go with the flow of the market, and if your market has low attention span you gotta cater for that...great vid!!
Im 99.8% sure that in 8 months or less my facebook news feed is going to be nothing but auto-playing videos. I don't even text anymore, i send video clips, and customers love it. (so do my kids).
Fantastic Video! Very Informative! Fresh and Funny! I'm building a business and his approach is almost a complete opposite of most things I've been reading. Thank you. This resonates much better than the other stuff
This guy brings a lot of energy but not a whole lot of insight. Everything he said was just common sense. I kept waiting for some big revelation and it never came.
Each to their own. I took a whole lot of helpful information from this speech. I'm probably going to watch it 10 more times to have it ingrained in my mental. Thanks a lot Gary I'm on to bigger and better with your wisdom. Cheers
Great video!! I know GV hasn't read a lot of books, but this is all the same premise as Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends & Influence People only with a lot of swear words ;) And I mean that in a good way.
He breathed in once in the beginning and on the out breath he delivered the entire speech
***** my wife was talking about this the other day when I was watching your video. She was like, "Does he ever BREATHE? Good lawd..."
***** I've watched this video at least 50 times.
Quite a few people get turned off by his approach and his delivery but that's just his character, if you check out his channel and give him a listen, soon he will be your alarm clock to get up and hustle! He has brought out a hunger in me that sometimes goes dormant. Gary Vee is a beast!

Amen
To be honest, I do not like the character. However, I started listening to the messages, and they have a lot of value.
his net worth is over 50 million $
Just real and relevant... The difference between the books and the reality
Gary Vee is real
I didnt even read the topic of the video... I see Gary V's name and i always trust his name enough to just fucking listen like gospel. Amazing stuff.
well I love this guy. anyone else?.shit got real

+Ulises Calvo THANK YOU.
what about messenger marketing? it's 4-5x more effective than emails

"Start Respecting the Context"...love it!
Agreed!
this is a good context for selling drugs for anxious people
Some of the best, clear-cut, no BS advice on marketing and brand building. Wish I had found Gary earlier...
What a great place we are in. Spend 15 minutes and Have coffee with Gary Vee.
Watched this a number of times and there are nuggets of value here about he psychology of being in the moment.
Thank you!
GV is such a boss. "How about we listen instead of talk?" So good. GaryVee on stage is one of the most intense truth delivery mechanisms in existence.

6 years later and this is still ridiculously true.
I love the frankness of this man. Very refreshing.

DAaaang. What a presentation. That was great!
Amazingly delivered speech! Full of energy and passion!
Give. Give. Give. Ask.
Big ups to Gary V. inspiring young hustlers worldwide...Keep teaching, we're listening.

Refreshingly fresh nearly 2 yrs later

This was the very first bit of Gary Vaynerchuk that I saw. Now, years later, I'm a huge garyvee fan.
finally one guy who makes sense in my bullshit radar :p

"All the action is in the context" True statement! I get it now, without a great story you have no audience.

Ive watched a lot of garyvee and read two of his books... I think this is one of his best talks... blasting good vibes and logic
You sir have melted my face!!!!! Thank you for the flipping awesome content inside of my brain space.
Forever a Gary V fan! Love this!!
Love this. Story telling is epicenter of success. This makes me think of how The Fresh Prince of Belair carried a creative story at the beginning of every episode that we never got sick of.

Joe Gelman
Thanks for citing your quote properly Joe. Wow.
cinnamonpeeler I thought my sarcasm came across there. Maybe not. Anyways, that's a paraphrase of Socrates via Plato if you're after accuracy.
I really like his way of presenting! I wish I could quote him in my paper on social media marketing but there is a fuck or shit in every sentence :D
Really liking me some GaryVee! Keep em coming bud!

You become a good storyteller by telling stories.
This guy is so badass
This Talk is more Valuable in 2017 than it was back then in 2014
definitely!! he's always been ahead of time
Justin Strickland incorrect.. this information if utulized correctly in 2014 would be much more valuable than today.
he damn well knows how to give a speech

This is terrifying. Our attention is now a commodity.
Best part @2:36 lol Raise your HANDS
Is Gary wearing a Burberry polo?! Wow haha that’s nuts!
