The doctor, the surgeon, the master of tutorials on video editing! As always Gord this is another master class video with meticulous details and mountains of info that are amazing and super helpful. I think your delivery is very organic and natural in this video. It feels like your talking to me only. Very personal and intimate. Well done my friend! 🔥🔥🔥😎🎥🎙👍📸
Thanks Tim! The video is on the long side, but I felt that showing so many uses for markers would help people to spark their own creative juices to flow.
Yes Rob, I try to use Markers to help me get more efficiency in how much I have to keep sweeping over the content before I'm done. The discipline has also helped me to refine my workflow process.
Excellent video Gord. I use markers quite a bit in my Camtasia editing. I probably don't to the extent that you do, as I edit as I go along rather than using markers as reminders. However, I do use the markers as holding points, so if I want to go back to a specific spot or go forward to a specific spot, it's easy to find. I will also put a marker at an animation point or a behavior point if I know I'm going to copy that animation or behavior on another clip later on. Excellent demonstration of how to use markers for editing purposes!
Glad to hear that you are an effective user of Markers! There's so much you can do. I shared so many techniques just to show people that you can get very creative with their application, and hopefully to bring efficiency to your workflow.
Gord, as many others have deservedly commented here: first rate job. Clear, concise and very informative. Do you by chance know if there's a way (trick maybe) to navigate to markers by name (ideally a substring in the name) to avoid having to step through each marker along the way (I know how to add a TofC with markers but this is only useful in the post-produced video, not during the editing process). I'm often doing work on projects which are 30 mins or more and the markers add up. If not, do you know if there is a third party plugin which provides something equivalent to a 'hyperlinked Markers TofC' within the editing space? (I haven't yet looked into whether script-based mods/adds are possible in Camtasia). Cheers.
Hey Mike, thanks for your kind words. Unfortunately, you can't name search Markers, nor is there any third-party plugins to help. I think you have a good suggestion that you should post in the TechSmith Camtasia Community forum so that TechSmith can see it.
@@GordIsman Hi Gord, thanks for the prompt reply. I half expected that but thought I'd check in case you knew of something to fill that gap. As you suggest, I'll pass that thought along to the Camtasia team. My sense is it would be a very useful feature to add. Best to you.
Gord - excellent video as usual. Its a shame that when you add a marker using Shift + M the Marker name is not automatically set as the focus for you to type a name for the marker. Having used Shift + M, taking your hand off of the keyboard, moving the mouse and clicking in the Marker Name field seems to defeat the object of the 'shortcut' Keep up the great works - these are really valuable videos.
Is there a way to set a marker, or multiple markers down, via typing the specific times at which you want to apply them? As opposed to scrolling and dragging, etc.?
The best way I overcome that challenge is by changing the track height. On the left-hand side, where the tracks are listed in order, you will see that there is a separator between each track. Move the mouse pointer over the dividing line and click-drag the line upwards when you get the double-headed arrow show. Another tip is that you are likely clicking the track near the top, where you click to add a marker. If you click a little lower, below that top section of the track, you will likely not accidentally add a marker. I hope this helps!
Well, if you are referring to timeline zooming, that's covered in the video. Is it possible that you may mean that you want to change the track height, not the timeline zoom? If it's the track height... here's a quick video: drive.google.com/file/d/1MJf3P63hub6tsESFn-mrikF3KwDitDa-/view?usp=sharing . (Note, I will be taking this down after you confirm you've seen it.) Thanks, Gord
Try the "Modify - Remove All Markers" option if you want to delete all the Markers, or, use the "View - Show/Hide Marker Track" menu option to show/hide. One additional tip... if you are accidentally adding markers, I find that if you increase the track height, you are less likely to accidentally click on the track section where the Markers are added - less real estate comparatively. I found that after I do that, I rarely add unwanted Markers. I don't know how to "turn off" the feature, but I can appreciate your irritation and desire to do so.

Wow! Why have I not been using markers? Great video! - Walt
Hey Walt, I'm glad you got great benefit from this, and thanks for sharing your feedback.. This was one of my favourite videos to create!

How can I prevent that everytime i click on my media it sets a marker? thank you

You're welcome! Happy Holidays!
How to increase size of our timeline?? Mine one is really small and I can't expand.
Take a look at this video and see if it answers your question: ruclips.net/video/tEZPLTlMHwA/видео.html .
