It's January 2024. I remember listening this one as a kid. Back in 2007/08. It's been 17 years. Still fresh. Still so strong. We've grown up. What a childhood we had. Cheers to us, folks. :')
It was one of that year's biggest songs, how big do you want it to be? Lol. Most bands don't even get a bigger return single like inxs did once Michael died
It was huge in his time, i believe this was arround 2006 if im not wrong, loved mtv and much music in that time, and they repeated it all the time in the radio.
J.D. Fortune deserves a prize just for this piece; it ain't easy to carry the burden of "replacing" Mike and be himself at the same time. Hope both singers souls a special huge Bless.
This was written by the band (Andrew Farris I believe) for Michael after his death. JD did an amazing job with the vocals and they created a song that will never be out of style.
atemporal sempre como toda boa musica se torna vinho sem prazo de validade nesse caso dessa musica incrível vao se passar 50 anos e ela vai soar fresca como um novo single .
Michael Hutchence was one of those totally unique singers with his own trademark, signature brilliance. Sexy, sultry, intense, dark, moody and a fucking genius. A completely original human incarnation who I always thought could never, EVER be replaced or emulated... But, man...this song is just way too damn perfect! I hate saying this, but JD has possibly done it...if only with this one track alone. RIP Michael Hutchence.
It is a song about Michael, written by Andrew about his feelings on Michael's passing. God's Top Ten is haunting as well, a song written for Michael's daughter, Tiger. Beautiful. There's a video of a live performance of it, and near the end Tim is losing it. Breaks my heart that they lost their friend and musical brother.
Cherié Summers This is the first time I am hearing this. I was so heartbroken when Michael died. Kind of silly I guess... I was a 38 year old woman when he died, happily married with two little girls. We used to dance around the living room to INXS.... it always made me so happy and brought me back to the most fun time of my life (before having my girls). We had just built a house and I was on a ladder painting fleur-de-Lis designs on my dining room walls with the TV on for distraction when I heard the news about Michael. I literally fell off the ladder, luckily I was not very high up. I felt like a part of myself died that day. I think the truth is that many fans, including myself did not want them to replace him- as unfair as that is, I never gave JD a chance. I regret it now. This is a beautiful song and I did wonder if it was about Michael although in the video they allude to a romantic relationship. No one will ever replace Michael, but I think JD was an excellent frontman as well. I had never heard “The God’s Top 10” until tonight and tears started streaming down my face. He was such a loss but I am glad he is at peace. I feel so much for Tiger Lily.
This man should have never been let go! He made me heal from Michael Hutchens' death. He was the perfect replacement. He had the charisma and vocals. He could write songs too!
I was thinking exactly the same. Lately I've been very nostalgic about Michael Hutchence's death and this guy as lead singer of INXS just healed that sadness.
I read that he was problematic but he got talent and charisma too. Maybe Inxs members didn't want the risk to get through another tragedy with his main singer.
@@MMacAttack Yes it is disheartening ! JD was just such a good fit . We all missed Michael but you have to get over it and move on . Writing a new chapter ? Well sometimes it work and sometimes it doesn’t and you have to call it a day . With JD it worked and INXS continued . I read about his problems . I wish we could have gotten 2 more LPs from this charismatic, handsome talented young Singer . Oh well !
Me..although "men shouldn't cry" thing imbibed right from childhood, feel no shame to admit that I have cried so many times, many thoughts...thoughts of my lost parents, especially my mother. Yet, this song literally forces me at least to keep listening at times, at seclusion..Don't know, sometimes feels like "loving the pain", sort of.
Yes, I heard this song on the radio shortly after my first wife passed away due to health problems at the age of 35. I had no idea who sang this song though. I was amazed it was INXS without Michael. This is my 4th favorite song of all time. My favorite song of all time is . . . Don't Change by INXS with Michael. I still cry when I hear this after 16 years. I also cry when I listen to "Grow Old With Me" by Mary Chapin Carpenter. To me, a good song is a good song when "it moves you."
Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses It's you and the roses Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow Heal me from all this sorrow As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes Now I'm living in your afterglow Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow? In between the longing to hold you again I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control My mind drifts away, we only have today Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow Heal me from all this sorrow As I let you go I will find my way I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes Now I'm living in your afterglow When the faith has gone as I let you go, as I let you go Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow Heal me from all this sorrow As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice Now I'm living in your afterglow Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses It's you who is closest
This song should be a gift for Michael's daughter Tiger Lily. I feel that the lyrics might mean a lot to her. She lost her father and her mother. There is a huge "Afterglow" in her life and she deserves this song to be hers.
Wonderful tribute to Michael. I believe what they’re trying to say is that they have gone through the emotions of Michael dying and now they have accepted it. Basically they gone through the steps of grieving. That’s what the lyrics are about.

It still feels fresh in my mind. The feeling of the wind and the roses when he says those words, I can really feel them. It is tough to understand afterglow. It is a sorrow happy feeling of still being connected with whom we love, but aren't around anymore to hold us. But we are satisfied with what they left behind, and live in a trance forever. You are a kind person as well, and i wish you all the best. I guess we just have to hope that in the end everything is going to be all right for both of us,and everyone who is in the same situation.
This song is such a piece of gem, i am glad i found it and have stuck with it for so many years. Because it never gets old and the female vocal plus the violin are pure magic.
One of my favourite songs of all time! The lyrics, the tune, the cinematography and the overall mood of this masterpiece are just unbeatable. Easily on my top 5 of this millennium.
The first time I listened to this song I didn't watch the video, and I got a strange feeling that the song is sort of written in the memory of Michael. The entire tone of it, and the lyrics that avoid using words like "her" or "love" or any words that would point to a relationship between a man and a woman. The entire relationship theme seems like a facade. It is almost painful seeing these old band members, with this void to fill in their lives that used to be Michael. The second time around I also watched the video, and the parts where the band members walk on empty streets, especially 3:04 where they are sort of transparent, and the singer is not, points strongly towards my original impression being true. I could also be completely wrong but that is what this song's message is to me, and it is much more powerful than a simple broken relationship theme.
Exactly. That part of the video is so poignant, where the surviving members are walking through the streets. And yes, powerful lyrics too. RIP Michael.
Hearing this song after a decade and all the memories came back from 2008-9 when this use to come on Vh1. One of the most underrated and beautiful song ever.
This one is my most favourite song. I kept listening to it occasionally and the way it makes me feel is indescribable in words. It just gives me goose bumps and makes me so much emotional.

Heal me from all this sorrow

Now I'm living in your afterglow
Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow
When the faith has gone as I let you go, as I let you go
Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice

Because it never gets old and the female vocal plus the violin are pure magic.

One of my favourite songs of all time! The lyrics, the tune, the cinematography and the overall mood of this masterpiece are just unbeatable. Easily on my top 5 of this millennium.

Arte para mil años
+Joe Stone Spot on!
You are right, the song is tribute to Michael. See in imdb of JD FORTUNE
Wow. Yes it becomes way more beautiful and powerful then
Exactly. That part of the video is so poignant, where the surviving members are walking through the streets. And yes, powerful lyrics too. RIP Michael.
I feel the same way about Linkin Park, seeing the band at Chester's fairwell.
Great song - even after all these years. you can listen to it again and again - so smooth
Great Album, Great Inxs story after tragedy..
It's an honor to be named after such an amazing artist (we have the same middle name) 🙏🙏💕💕 R.I.P forever Michael Hutchence ~
Hearing this song after a decade and all the memories came back from 2008-9 when this use to come on Vh1. One of the most underrated and beautiful song ever.

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
