I just noticed that JD loses the flannel after DGW. I read somewhere (I think an authors note from O’Keefe & Murphy) that in Our Love is God, JD saying “I was a frozen lake, but then you melted me awake,” kind of signifies that when Veronica pursued him, she accidentally woke this dormant monster thus starting the murdering sprees and violence as an attempt to ‘save her’ from the cold, hard world. I think the flannel signifies some sort of innocence, as it breaks up the entirely black attire. After DGW, he has a new look bc he’s letting someone in and ‘protecting them’ and then immediately after is The Me Inside of Me and the flannel is gone. Idk it makes sense to me lol. Thanks for listening
I'm so glad someone else has this theory! Before he met Veronica he was this quiet kid who didn't socialise much however after he was confident as if he was a whole new person. You can tell he truely cares about Veronica due to the way he loosens up around her. I'd like to point out how he flinched when Veronica touched him in DGW as this implies his dad treated him poorly, resulting in him being quiet and reserved. You can tell his feeling towards her were real due to his tone in Our Love is God, I Say No and how he just let info of his life spill out without hesitating in Freeze Your Brain. Even if you watch off broadway (which doesn't have I Say No for some reason?) in blue reprise (replacing Never Shut Up Again), Heather Duke says that Kurt + Ram told the whole school. JD then replies "Freeway?" with an immense amount of emotion, if what Kurt and Ram said were true he would be deeply upset. Considering how both characters are the exact same you could use that for evidence as JD doing anything for Veronica

Can we just take a moment to acknowledge the fact the “I say so” was added in heathers half way through the tour and Carrie learned the song in barley a week and she fking nailed it!! She said she relates very much to it herself and how shocked the audience was when they heard it 😭😭
Ok ow so only just realised now after watching a bunch of carrie's videos that at 2:11:34 when the harmony splits between veronica and martha, jenny just can't get the words out because she's too emotional and so carrie has to carry that part until she gets to "please can't we be sevent-" and then her voice just goes and she looks down then the audience goes wild and jenny tugs at her arm in the most loving way and ahhh that absolutely breaks my heart. Carrie also mentioned that when she looked over at sophie playing mcnamara, she was just shaking trying her damn near hardest trying not to cry. I can't even begin to imagine how much this moment would have meant to them. Hate it when shows have to end!
Yes Jamie is amazing (best JD imo) I love him and this is why I became a fan of his, BUT... Can we take a moment to appreciate how wonderful is Jodie as H. Chandler as well? She embodies this mythic b persona without stopping being a teenager, she's MY Heather Chandler, simply flawless 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. The amount emotion all of them, especially the one that played JD, put into their characters is insane, I've seen so many people complain about the west end version because they removed blue and while blue is a really good song I appreciate the took west end put on what was happening as well. This entire cast was amazing
Some cool details I've noticed after watching it second time and haven't seen anyone pointing them out: -1:28:00 In this scene, Kurt keeps laughing at Martha having a crush on Ram, but Ram gets genuinely angry at Veronica being mean to her! - I like how the ghosts are surrounding Veronica in 'Yo girl' instead of just standing there - I also like the fact that Veronica's parents are actually responsible and are trying to convince her to get therapy after finding out she's 'depressed' - 2:03:00 OMG!!! JD was about to kill himself after finding out Veronica is 'dead'! - JDs gestures towards Veronica showing his possessiveness -the way Heather M shakes her hand when she's nervous really fits her character
Omg! I didn't even notice JD's gesture with the gun in 2:03:00 ! There's so much I didn't realize in Heathers! Thank you so much for pointing these out
Another thing I've noticed that is sad...? creepy....? I don't really know how to call it, but notice how JD, who is a serial killer and carries a gun around is STILL scared of his father.
I just realized the first act is Veronica being passive and letting others control her, and the second act is Veronica trying to clean up the mess she made
Some more details I've noticed: - 50:14 Heather seems touched by her own fake suicide note - 1:00:20 Wait, did she show them a middle finger? 1:05:00 Lol, Ram tried to tell the coach it was all JD's fault - I love 'Never shut up again' not only because it shows Dukes character development and gives her the moment of power, but also because it reprises 'Big fun'. The 'Ding ding....etc.' part shows that you can be bullied for literally anything, no matter who you are and what you do. - 1:14:28 JD to wanted to kiss Veronica's cheek, but she didn't let him - Heather M is not wearing a blazer in act 2 anymore, which could symbolize the fact that she lost her power as a Heather - 1:40:30 Heather tried to say something more, but then she realized the microphone is already off - 1:40:41 this moment shows how incompetent Mrs Flemming is, she acts like nothing happened and then yells at Duke ignoring the fact that McNamara is about to cry - JD is a serial killer and carries a gun around, but he's STILL scared of his father -1:57:00 That's a good lyric change. Veronica says 'Is she alright?' instead of 'Is she dead?', which makes sense, because I think everyone would be afraid to even use the world 'dead' if they heard about something bad happening to their friend. - 2:07:00 there's a mix of 'Hey yo, Westerburg' and 'Our love is God' playing in the background, we love some good symbolism😁
@@meridaskywalker7816 if you listen closely to the music in the our love is a god part the piano like the chords or the tuning it's in is really similar to the freezer brain I mean that's just my opinion but
okay, I just love the energy in Me Inside of Me. It's really the only time that Heather Chandler gets to act completely unhinged (if you can even say it really is Heather Chandler). When she's still alive, she always acts like such a brat and knows full well that she has a reputation. She can't really do anything she does in Me Inside of Me without losing her power (I'm specifically talking about when she's dancing around all of the students, it's just hilarious and incredible). Also, I just want to appreciate the ensemble. They are incredible and deserve more praise.
Duke and Mac are adorable in this?? (b4 shine a light, i mean) (50:45) Duke reaching out to hug McNamara, but shoving away Mrs. Flemming when she tries to hug *her* (51:34) "No one thinks a pretty girl can touch you" Mac cupping Duke's face in her hands while duke just like 'back tf up' to this one dude (51:18) "Deals a deal >:( !!" (56:54) Quite literally worshipping the ground Duke walks on (1:04:56) Idk just being cute in the bg (1:01:20) + (49:36) *turns to see if she's laughing too* (7:02) *shows visible concern for her and reaching out for her* (14:18) *running her hand along duke's back* (14:58) they're in sync (56:45) Heather McNamara looks very upset on Duke's behalf for that 'shut up heather' (1:01:34) you had your hand around her waist McNamara. I know what you are. (1:05:05) also during NSUA and some other parts Heather McNamara imitates what Heather Duke is doing and it's really cute sorry if my McDuke brainrot is showing but these two are SUSPICIOUS!!
i've noticed, being a big Heathers west end fan that Jamie's JD avoids eye contact with Veronica until 'seventeen', and Carrie's Veronica is more chill in Act one and allows herself to be controlled, whereas in act 2, she starts reflecting on everything bad that she's done such as killing Heather C Kurt and Ram and tries to change that by standing up to JD's selfishness and murderous mind in 'I Say No' by not letting him talk and letting out every problem that he's caused, which made JD start thinking about his actions until 'Meant To Be Yours' when he breaks into Veronicas house, with a gun, and threatens Veronica to go to the Pep Rally with him, until he finds that 'she committed suicide' and gives up because Veronica was the best thing in JD's life, that's why he killed people to protect Veronica from the bad things in the world until he couldn't handle the weight of all of his mistakes in 'Dead Girl Walking Reprise' going into 'i am damaged' going into killing himself to make the world safer for Veronica because he realises that he's the person that's hurting Veronica most, then in 'Seventeen Reprise' Veronica takes over as leader of Westerburg High and fixes all her problems with Heather D Heather M and Martha eventually all becoming friends, leading to the end of the show. Thanks for reading
i love this so much!! carrie and jamie really put their everything into these roles and everything is on point. and 40:57 the "aw" from that one audience member lmaoo 😭 and 1:16:44 the ymca lol and 1:29:10 heather and veronica in synchronisation makes so much sense leading up to the "now you're truly a heather" line wow
It’s so crazy when you know Carrie(Veronica) had such a horrible case of tonsillitis and she still sounds like she barely had a cough❤ she is so great❤️
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH! I didn’t get to see the show since I live in the US but Carrie is one of my favorite RUclipsrs to watch and seeing her vlogs of Heathers made me want to see it SO badly!
I think Lin Manuel Miranda was right when he said West End audience lost it in the spicy scenes like say no to this. We see here in dead girl walking😂😂😂😂
Lol, after finding (and becoming obsessed with this musical) I moved like 2 minutes biking distance to a 7/11 and I listen to freeze your brain EVERY TIME

@Ilovespur2123 I totally agree! I found her channel and watched some about her and some about her other performances. I am now such a fan! I am so jealous that I don't live in the UK to have an opportunity to see her perform live! 💕
1:44:52 - when Jamie/JD grabs Veronica in frustration, realizes, and quickly lets go of her:( 2:01:39 - this part reminds me of Freeze your brain, the ending lyrics “ when the voice in your head says you’re better off dead don’t open a vein” with JD opening his inside thoughts, and realizing he needs to calm down a bit. In this song, he knows he’s too late and angry to be focused on calming down. I always am discussing hc w my friends whether JD would have ADHD or not. Edit: 50:56 - “hands across America *reaches for JD’s hand*” JD TECHNICALLY WENT ACROSS AMERICA; Las Vegas to Boston (ik hands across America means something way different)
I've been a big fan of heathers for about a year now and i loved the west end soundrack/music videos/cast and since im very picky (whoops) i wanted to find it so bad on yt so i just wanna thank you for posting this it really made my day :)
Is no one gonna point out when JD hums after freeze your brain HELLO FORESHADOWING!! 27:28 Plus I love this version and I relate to JD too much..AND I kin him cuz if he stopped the killing and got help then yk I'M ALL FOR IT. Plus he got a first taste with Heather C which was like a tester but when Kurt and Ram hurt Veronica, he definitely wanted to kill them because they hurt her and he wants to protect her. After the deaths he couldn't get enough of it and technically wanted to kill anyone for her but OFC Veronica didn't want that. Fast forwarding to meant to be yours, he felt like the school was taking her away and he didn't wanna lose the only one who he loves literally to death. When he realized that he was hurting her, he killed himself to protect her and save her again sooooo I KIN obviously not for his toxic behaviour but I feel for him
Just a small, cool detail i noticed :) During 14:46 aka, end of Candy Store posing with light shining according to their signature colors, Heather D’s split it half green half red, foreshadowing she’d take the place as red shortly after.
I think I like this cast live and the OB cast in the studio album. In the west end cast album, it just seems really off since the instrumentals are so different.
I really like the off-broadway Heathers with Barrett Wilbert Weed playing as Veronica a lot but this one is really great! The actors who played Veronica and JD were something else lol I also really liked the parts where Kurt and Ram appeared in. I never really liked Blue so I'm glad it wasn't here. This could possibly be my favorite version! I would've loved to experience this, does anyone know where this was filmed?
I think this was filmes at the Other Palace in London in 2018 (I'm sure about the London part, this is the original cast of the West End production, but I'm not certain about which theater). A proshot was filmed and released recently of the newer West End production (I mean it's pretty much the same except the cast is different), you can find it online pretty easily.
ok so i noticed that before The Me Inside of Me, when Veronica spit in the cup, the music in the background is the same or at least similar to the music played during Our Love Is God when Veronica called Kurt to "invite" them to the cemetary. not rlly much, its just smt i noticed Edit : And when Martha tells Veronica about her suspicions she had for Ram and Kurts death, they play the instrumental for Yo Girl
Idk how actors dont fall for each other while doing scenes like that like that “sex” scene HAD ALOT OF PASSION IN THAT he was touchin her like he wanted it😭😭 if that were me i would definitely have caught feelings

This musical reminds me of something that happened while I was in junior high. There was this girl named Heather (yep) who I was friends with since 2nd grade. She was basically the "Martha" in this. That one girl who loved cats and unicorns and still dressed like a little kid. I admit, she was a bit annoying sometimes, but I actually kinda liked hanging out with her again in 7th grade. One day while I was on the bus (in 7th), we heard the device the bus drivers used to communicate. I didn't hear it personally but I quickly heard about someone getting ran over by a truck and the buses got delayed. Everyone was talking about it by the time we got to school. As I was walking to my first class I got a text from another one of my friends from elementary that I was still friends with. He asked "you know the girl who got hit by a truck?" "everyone knows about it. yes." "it's Heather." "really?" "yeah" or something along those lines. Everyone realized it was Heather after a couple days. She didn't come back to school the next few days. Then one of my friends (Heather's best friend) told me she was fine and in a wheelchair. She didn't come back to school for the rest of the year. She was also in my choir class, and the last concert of the year was an emotional one for many reasons. After the show, we were grabbing our things and then I heard someone call my name. I turned around and there she was, Heather in a wheelchair. Even more emotional. I haven't talked to her in a while but I hope she's doing alright.

The guy that played J.D. was Jamie Muscato if you wanted to know ^_^
@@criminalcoded Ooo ok, thank you! :D
I agree

YES FINALLY A FULL SLIME TUTORIAL-THERE WAS ONE HERE BEFORE, BUT IT GOT REMOVED. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
SAME and i was so sad when it got removed
Some cool details I've noticed after watching it second time and haven't seen anyone pointing them out:
-1:28:00 In this scene, Kurt keeps laughing at Martha having a crush on Ram, but Ram gets genuinely angry at Veronica being mean to her!
- I like how the ghosts are surrounding Veronica in 'Yo girl' instead of just standing there
- I also like the fact that Veronica's parents are actually responsible and are trying to convince her to get therapy after finding out she's 'depressed'
- 2:03:00 OMG!!! JD was about to kill himself after finding out Veronica is 'dead'!
- JDs gestures towards Veronica showing his possessiveness
-the way Heather M shakes her hand when she's nervous really fits her character
Omg! I didn't even notice JD's gesture with the gun in 2:03:00 ! There's so much I didn't realize in Heathers! Thank you so much for pointing these out
@@zzkeii I'd say 'You're welcome', but....well.
@@meridaskywalker7816 HELPP that song was so realistically toxic 😭
Another thing I've noticed that is sad...? creepy....? I don't really know how to call it, but notice how JD, who is a serial killer and carries a gun around is STILL scared of his father.
@@meridaskywalker7816 LITERALLY 💀 Honestly, I feel like everyone would feel weird around Big Bud Dean-HE is not okay!!!
I just realized the first act is Veronica being passive and letting others control her, and the second act is Veronica trying to clean up the mess she made
Carrie’s voice breaking @2:11:38 always gets me. This is phenomenal! I’ve lost count how many times I watched this slime tutorial!
Why does everyone call it “slime tutorial” I’m actually so confused
@@I.eat.hamstersto avoid copy right issue
Some more details I've noticed:
- 50:14 Heather seems touched by her own fake suicide note
- 1:00:20 Wait, did she show them a middle finger?
1:05:00 Lol, Ram tried to tell the coach it was all JD's fault
- I love 'Never shut up again' not only because it shows Dukes character development and gives her the moment of power, but also because it reprises 'Big fun'. The 'Ding ding....etc.' part shows that you can be bullied for literally anything, no matter who you are and what you do.
- 1:14:28 JD to wanted to kiss Veronica's cheek, but she didn't let him
- Heather M is not wearing a blazer in act 2 anymore, which could symbolize the fact that she lost her power as a Heather
- 1:40:30 Heather tried to say something more, but then she realized the microphone is already off
- 1:40:41 this moment shows how incompetent Mrs Flemming is, she acts like nothing happened and then yells at Duke ignoring the fact that McNamara is about to cry
- JD is a serial killer and carries a gun around, but he's STILL scared of his father
-1:57:00 That's a good lyric change.
How many times have you watched this?? 💀
But anyway, thank you for all of these details! They're really interesting!
@@thatboredmoth You're welcome (look where you are), I watched it three times😉

Dude their voices are just 🧑🍳💋

okay, I just love the energy in Me Inside of Me.
(b4 shine a light, i mean)
(50:45) Duke reaching out to hug McNamara, but shoving away Mrs. Flemming when she tries to hug *her* (51:34)
"No one thinks a pretty girl can touch you" Mac cupping Duke's face in her hands while duke just like 'back tf up' to this one dude (51:18)
"Deals a deal >:( !!" (56:54)
Quite literally worshipping the ground Duke walks on (1:04:56)
Idk just being cute in the bg (1:01:20) + (49:36)
*turns to see if she's laughing too* (7:02)
*shows visible concern for her and reaching out for her* (14:18)
*running her hand along duke's back* (14:58)
they're in sync (56:45)
Heather McNamara looks very upset on Duke's behalf for that 'shut up heather' (1:01:34)
you had your hand around her waist McNamara. I know what you are. (1:05:05)
also during NSUA and some other parts Heather McNamara imitates what Heather Duke is doing and it's really cute
sorry if my McDuke brainrot is showing but these two are SUSPICIOUS!!
i've noticed, being a big Heathers west end fan that Jamie's JD avoids eye contact with Veronica until 'seventeen', and Carrie's Veronica is more chill in Act one and allows herself to be controlled, whereas in act 2, she starts reflecting on everything bad that she's done such as killing Heather C Kurt and Ram and tries to change that by standing up to JD's selfishness and murderous mind in 'I Say No' by not letting him talk and letting out every problem that he's caused, which made JD start thinking about his actions until 'Meant To Be Yours' when he breaks into Veronicas house, with a gun, and threatens Veronica to go to the Pep Rally with him, until he finds that 'she committed suicide' and gives up because Veronica was the best thing in JD's life, that's why he killed people to protect Veronica from the bad things in the world until he couldn't handle the weight of all of his mistakes in 'Dead Girl Walking Reprise' going into 'i am damaged' going into killing himself to make the world safer for Veronica because he realises that he's the person that's hurting Veronica most, then in 'Seventeen Reprise' Veronica takes over as leader of Westerburg High and fixes all her problems with Heather D Heather M and Martha eventually all becoming friends, leading to the end of the show.
Thanks for reading
Oh I df needed the full version of Jamie muscato playing JD😭 thx for posting

Im in love with the original and this heathers West veronica theyre hilarious and amazing singers XDD
nah i cannot believe carrie had TONSILITIS during this and could still sing like a fucking angel. iconic.
Ikr she mentioned this in one of her videos I watched recently
It’s so crazy when you know Carrie(Veronica) had such a horrible case of tonsillitis and she still sounds like she barely had a cough❤ she is so great❤️

Nah for me i love it do much
I often wonder what would've happened if JD became good after "Seventeen". I dream about it frequently
1:44:52 - when Jamie/JD grabs Veronica in frustration, realizes, and quickly lets go of her:(
2:01:39 - this part reminds me of Freeze your brain, the ending lyrics “ when the voice in your head says you’re better off dead don’t open a vein” with JD opening his inside thoughts, and realizing he needs to calm down a bit.

Yw!
i know people might disagree because people tend to believe that the original actors are the best but i genuinely think this is the best jd …
There will 100% people who agree!! This J.D. was amazing, he puts on a good show, and Shows BOTH sides of J.D.’s character.
@@mariejoris2052 thank you so much!! 😊
This particular video was filmed at the royal haymarket (this is the final show) hence why everyone is so emotional at the end 😊
ok so i noticed that before The Me Inside of Me, when Veronica spit in the cup, the music in the background is the same or at least similar to the music played during Our Love Is God when Veronica called Kurt to "invite" them to the cemetary. not rlly much, its just smt i noticed

I haven't talked to her in a while but I hope she's doing alright.
i saw this on another heathers but i think it's really funny
Veronica: so the world's unfair keep it locked out there
