Blessed to live in an age where we can not only enjoy a song but also watch a full breakdown of it by its creator. There's so much interesting information in this stream. Thank you for taking the time to record and upload it so we can all rewatch it and keep learning new stuff.
The way I see the DAW debate today is (disregarding pricing): ABLETON = Electronic experimentation, sampling live performance, LOGIC = Songwriting oriented, great native presets, PROTOOLS = vocal recording and mixing, FL = cloud & AI stem separation. That said, I feel every DAW is obviously trying to incorporate the other's strenghts and they will become more and more similar. In that process, IMO Ableton is ahead
When he's talking about sound design, he said to listen to Skrillex and Aphex Twin, but who was the first artist he mentioned? Something like Vergy or something?
Holy shit. That is so me, working with midi I'm constantly tweaking it. I feel too scared to render the loop to audio cus I then cannot tweak it and mess around with it. I waste hours on tweaking midi loops. I'm gonna just go for it tonight and see what happens
Oversampling stuff at 1:23 isn't entirely accurate. You sacrifice transients the more you oversample. Would caution against thinking that "oversampling = better".
I used Logic for 10 years, the first time I got into production. When I came back to it, I tried Ableton and on day one I thought to myself, 'I wasted 10 years of my life.'

As a Logic user, i am going to miss more of his Logic breakdowns, but looking forward to seeing an Abelton breakdown from him.
this man is so inspiring, every time i see one of these i remember how much of a legend guy is.
I should not have been this happy to hear he switched to ableton but I am
I guess if you can take whats he teaches in logic into Ableton it doesn't matter anymore.
I should not have been this sad lol
i made an outloud noise, ableton is king

Bitwig?
gives me Floating Points/Crush album vibes. Especially the drums. I wonder if there was any inspiration behind this. Awesome production.

Much respect for making the switch to Ableton!
Would love to know why Guy has stopped using the Studer tape machine plugin on his master buss
I literally bought a 3 grand Mac to use Logic because of this man 😂😂 dreams shattered in the first 30 seconds

Has he done She’s Gone, Dance On?
love this! Thank you
That morph trick he did on Microtonic plug in reminded me on the "FX" section of DSI Tempest.

thank you!

Not anymore!
Switches to ableton, instantly collabs with Lake 👏

also how he explained it is incorrect, the x4 refers to the sample frequency, not to the instances of the plugin. If anybody was interested.
Reminds me of some of the stuff from Leftfield album Rhythm and Stealth. Yeah, i am thad old :)
I was not prepared for this news. What do I do with my heart now 😢
Flute : Duduk
the automation is wild lmao
1:23:22
You shouldnt feel sorry for switching daw nor try to justify your choice. It's ok I'm a fan of music whatever you're using

Does this mean I have to switch to Abelton from Reaper?.🤣
