Just saw these guys live 20 minutes ago...they played this track live, a 15 minute searing, shredding rendition. It was astonishing. See this band live, they're incredible!
RIP boys, my old roomie was their North American tour manager, stayed with us a few times, fuckin great dudes, if you got to see them live hold on to that
Oh yeah ! This is dope - especially if you grew up in Calcutta and you know the mayhem that Calcuttans bear ! Insane ! Edit: Can't wait to see you live at Fox Theater, Boulder,CO tonight !
Little known fact: all the band members are descendants of World War II Japanese fighter pilots who were shot down and marooned on isolated Pacific islands and didn't know the war was over until they were discovered in 2006.
As far as I know there was just one Japanese soldier, he had been stationed in the Philippines, defending a remote outpost in the jungle. Utterly loyal to his Emperor and his country he fought the war every day with his wits and his ingenuity because his weapons and ammo had run out long ago and all his comrades had died. Then he was 'rescued' and told that Japan had lost the war 40 years before. He refused to believe it. He thought it was a trick to make him surrender. It took many visits from the Japanese to assure him there was peace and he finally returned home. To high military honours. I think I would have been bitter, to have been forgotten and abandoned by my country for so long. But he was not. He couldn't adjust well to the modern world but he didn't grudge anything to anyone and that (on top of everything else) makes him a better man than me.
IF you saw them live, you lucked out... ☘
