- We try out Bobcats new T-76 Tracked Skid steer doing stuff you guys might find out on a muddy site. Good and bad -like a steep hill climb with bucket empty, and also put it through a frozen sloppy mud hole.

That just showed me how in experienced your guys were that ran it!
As others have said:
1 - seems a little underpowered
2 - the tracks on it suck
3 - The weight distribution with the bucket empty is too far to the back. You can see throughout the video that almost 50% of the track surface was not being used.

If I have to climb a steep hill with a skidsteer ill always back up it, but yeah something seems off. Not impressed either.
All of the new machines have more weight for the same horsepower as all the older machines. The extra weight was put in the rear for added lift capacity. I’m a bobcat dealer tech. This is not new either, the other big name brands are doing the same thing.
All that kid did was drive around with an empty bucket, this proves absolutely nothing for those of us that want to see if it's a quality machine. I want to see it dig into a pile, and transport material around the house to backfill or to grade.

Hey Stan. Looks like a pretty sweet machine. I see a lot of comments bashing Bobcats which is unfortunate. I bought my T-300 with a cab 17 years ago and it still runs flawlessly and STRONG! Hopefully they're still built as well for longevity. It has paid for itself many times over. Thanks for all your videos.
i've had many bobcats over the years, my 773's with foot controls were my favorite, but the ASV's are so much better of a machine

A landscaper I worked for and a landscaper friend rented my sub compact tractor for sites like that. The Skid steers just dont cut it and the tractors are much faster ground speeds to begin with let alone adding in some mud. They were able to go through considerably more mud and not working hard to do so, which save a lot of fuel. We done very few sites where the skid steer was a practical piece equipment. Very minimal turf damage was a huge plus too!

I think bobcat makes a great machine. I think the only reason it wouldn’t make it up the slopes was because of the lack of traction with those tracks. It looked like it was pretty well balanced and wasn’t tipping, just spinning the tracks
watching it work and hearing motor I'm thinking wow so glad I have my ASV!!
Stan you said exactly what I was thinking being a layman and watching it try to go up that slope that the tracks are not the correct type. Never run a skid steer in my life so take my opinion for what it is worth. Love the video though.
I’m getting ready to purchase one so nice video.
I sat in the cab of a T76 for the past 4 weeks and loved it. It’s not perfect by any means but, I’d say it’s easily at the top it’s class. They all have pros and cons but at the end of the day it’s all about dealer support. Bobcat owns the support game hands down. Here’s my thoughts on the machine. Plenty of power for most applications. I ran a landscape rake, mulcher and Harley rake that even under full load barely moved the RPMs even with the drive stick mashed forward or back. With a grading bucket moved approximately 100 tons of screened topsoil. Digging force is excellent. Will bog down slightly going strait in but most CTLs will. Loaded around 200 tons of debris and even at full reach, the machine was stable. Cab is comfortable and visibility is excellent. Didn’t have to move forward to see the cutting edge and a slight head turn to see the back quarters on both sides. Cab is also really quiet. You can hear a little bit of a hydraulic wine but nothing unbearable. I’ve also demoed CAT 259 and 299D3 and although they are quality machines, I preferred the bobcat in both visibility, stability and operating speeds. Dealer support is better in our area as well for bobcat. The front of the property we worked on had a short steep hill a little longer than the one in this video but same type of crest at the top and I had no issues running loads up and down. We also had the standard C Lug tracks and the soil wasn’t as wet is this so I’d assume I was pulling better traction. Overall, if I was in the market for a new machine I’d go bobcat all day. The T76 is an impressive piece of equipment.

With a full bucket it would likely climbed it! Also it sounds like it is in high range, our T595 will negotiate terrain like that.

How quiet inside is it? How do the controls feel? How it's the break out force when curling? What's it like getting in and out? How is the view trough the glass? How nice is it to clean tracks on? Did they fix the lift arm/bucket geometry?

I've got a old asv 4810 I love it. no lack of power with a 105 HP cat and it would eat this terrain for breakfast with or without a load of dirt
I would have to say that this machine did a really good job. If I were in the market for a skid steer this is the machine I would definitely be looking at.

When I was looking for a skid steer, I tried the Kubota SVL 75, TL770, Takeuchi TL8, John Deere 333G and the Cat 259D. ASV wasn't available.
I went with the Cat 259D. The Deere lifted more but wasn't as agile as the Cat. Kubota was underpowered as well as the Bobcat. The Takeuchi was a beast but I needed agility and speed.
I have tracks just like the ones in this video and they are great here in SC for the turf applications. I can take 10 inch to 15 inch diameter trees down with my machine and it struggles a little but when down, I can carry it to its final destination with ease. My Cat has 74 hp and it works for me. Just my opinion. Have a blessed day.

Not really a fair comparison tho, a 259 cat is not even close to the same weight class as the 333g, 325g would’ve been similar to a 259. But if you actually look at the spec sheet the 317g(smallest in JD line) is what actually competes with the 259D

When going forward up a slope, if you can get it to the top where it's kind of teetering on the edge but tracks are spinning, try to jerk up and down with the bucket. Because the machine is teetering on that top ledge it only gets traction where the ground is touching, which is a small area in the center of the machine. If you jerk the bucket it will help you teeter more and might make the forward sections of track touch the level ground above and pull itself out.
I put dirt in my bucket to add weight when in climbing situations. Usually works well. I used lots of bobcats before they are awesome. Time to buy my own

I've managed to skip the track on a Caterpillar 289D 4 times in a 1 month period over one groove on the 3 groove idlers. Not the easiest to get running centered again.
Tighten the tracks. Factory specs are too loose

The new T76 is a beast of a machine sorry to say I spent 3 days moving dirt mowing roads and cleaning up logging roads tons of power love the lay out of the machine! The mud I think the tracks and weight made it have trouble I pushed mud off with it and it seemed to doze right through it!

bleachinuri Caruthers I’ve ran them all the T76 is new and there’s bugs getting ironed out of them but out of all the new machines that is out I’d take a T76 anyday Bc of cab layout and power! But 770 is a beast of a machine and doesn’t not compare to the 76 Bc it’s is just a 650 redesigned! Now there coming out with a T86 and T96 soon which the 86 is a 770-870 size and the 96 is just bigger and I think 115 hp!

They definitely had it in high gear. The high gear in these are the fastest skid out there. This thing would run circles around a asv.

The tracks on it all together are not for a muddy situations .but does not seem to bog down like the older ones
3:54 I was scared for Stan’s life! That could have been deadly.
To be fair, it sounded like it was in 2 speed which it shouldn’t be when digging or climbing because you lose torque to the drive motors. The tracks were lose which doesn’t help with traction.
Bobcat is a great machine the T 76 is a mid size Bobcat . The 770 or 870, both are strong machines . Bobcat eats everyone's lunch. I've had every kind of skid steer - track loader and not one has ever kept up with the bobcats. However not fond of the vented door . I see lots of issues , put vents in the door, hang the cooler on it and sell lots of coolers etc.
Just confirms what I've experienced and have seen. Ingersol just can't make a track system that can put the power and traction down like Cat or ASV. They just have yet to be able to make a track system that actually delivers more traction.

@@johntraxler911 Most people by used ones or ones there where rented all the time for jobs bigger then what there made for the guy that use to live next to me had one and it never gave him issues.
My old 943 bob cat had PLENTY of power never had issues and could work circles around half the new equipment. That machine is only 74hp to get around emission laws. Plus they have it in high gear and don’t have a load in the bucket.
@@johntraxler911 been doing this for nearly 20 years now, i've been in my fair share of bobcat equipment. I will take deere, cat, and volvo over bobcat any day of the week. Really Deere and Cat for skidsteers and volvo for excavators not a fan of their skidsteers. Add Komatsu to that list as well for Dozers, i love my d51 and d37.

It’s not about the machine it’s about the operators. I know guys who run 2000s model bobcats and yet they’ll fast and not scared of anything. The 753 is probably the trickiest machine ever. Try riding that one. It’s not about the Machine it’s the operator.
You can buy a 100k machine and still don’t know how to operate it. You can buy 20k machine and still out work the “asv”
I’m not crazy about the drive lines are exposed in the undercarriage. The new ones are pilot control only. They look cool and I like the castings. Not crazy with a radiator in the rear and I believe it pulls air in from the rear. Nastiest air location. They look cool. I do like the cab is one piece

Lmao @10:15 man I would love to be in that guys world never having a track blow off. You can tell he hasn't used one much in the woods or similar sites. When I worked a few years digging landscape trees In treefields/treefarms was the worst. It didn't matter if the tracks were new or used, or brand new machines or old machines they will come off at least once or twice a week. It's the perfect recipe for it in that type of dirt, terrain, in between tight rows and especially what most people don't realize is how heavy landscape trees are. Now logger style tracks worked absolutely great and we never once had a problem with them coming of because not their design however they can't handle the weight as the stock undercarriage could. We used a brand new t870 bobcat that also had outriggers/machine levelers that weighed quite a bit and even had some other counter weights and for bigger trees sometimes that wasn't even enough. The crazy thing was is that big tree spade for a 50 to 60 inch tree weighed 2300 to 3300 depending on the brand and the ball and tree was easily a minimum of 3600. So for a skidsteer it always impressed me moving with that much weight. At that farm I have never personally seen that large of a spade on anything as small as skidsteer before that I have only seen a 60in ball dug with a front end loader or a spade that was a whole trailer!
That is one style of tracks I would love to see a legit video on and testing on is a set of logger tracks on a skidsteer! They are quite a different design compared to stock ones and completely different undercarriages from the floatation they offer and the more ground clearance they are quite something. I got to use one machine with them and I was honestly impressed. I wasn't doing forestry work with them either but just some standard dirt work and i still liked them. The only thing I have wondered about them is with that extra floatation I feel like they would actually improve the traction or completely hinder the machine, in terrain that's not just mud. what I loved about them is the style allows the tracks to go over obstacles that the machine would either push around or just not allow the machine to go over at all. You can usually get a "universal" set that'll bolt right up to your machine for a fairly good price and I think you should consider it, and just like half of you work is snow plowing that's what I want to see them do. Not just going over and through the snow but actually pushing it on a slippery surface.
From what I'm seeing and hearing, I hope they passed on getting that one. I was also wondering if a different tread pattern on the tracks might have helped. It almost looked like it was made as a 'one size fits all', we know that seldom works well in all situations.
The T650 we run seems like it would handle those situations better. I think the T76 is weighed down with EPA emissions equipment.
I agree with the consensus:
- video doesn’t tell us much without a side by side comparison to Cat/Deere/ASV/etc
- separately it would be fascinating to compare different rubber tracks on the same machine. Different video but all of us struggle is poor traction conditions on these machines and wonder if different tracks would make much difference
- would have been helpful if the focus was just in this Bobcat to have it side by side with what it replaced (T650) and go into more detail about what changed, the comment on the new door was very helpful as I am fed up with the door on my T-650 as you can’t open it unless the boom is fully down, tell us more side by side about seating, controls, ride comfort, etc
- so many of us thought you had the machine in high speed which would make it behave as it did with poor climbing???

I have one of these with a platinum package and I love it. add the seal kit for the chassis and the extra fan for the air intake to clear out the extra dust. Dont buy the remote control because bobcat lied and said they were coming out with the app for android but two years later still no android app. the seal kit and air intake kit should have been included on machine they call a platinum. ...... also my platinum didnt come with a 5 link which I thought I was getting on a machine they call their platinum
oh and the wiring harnesses keeps failing and being need to be replaced. so dont let it get wet in the rain. If my dealership wasnt so great I would have never kept this machine. I also had to put a new fluid coupler on it out of pocket because the orriginal wouldnt flow enough for my forestry mulcher. oh and my idler wheels wore into sprockets with less then 200 hours.
the good bit is it is pretty comfortable and the radio is well integrated

With compact tractors kind of being all the rage now days. It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison between a skid steer and comparable hp compact tractor. They each will have limitations. I recently purchased a John Deere X series with a front end loader, and I have run plenty of Bobcat skid steers. The last Bobcat I rented was a T450 with tracks, I feel I am an above average Bobcat operator. I found a good deal on John Deere X585 with a front end loader. after spending a week on compact tractor I would choose the compact tractor over the T450. It's more maneuverable, doesn't tear the ground up when you turn, better stability side to side. The place the skid steer was better was soft sand the tracks can't be beat. I moved 2 15 yard truck loads of clay fill in an 8 hour day with Deere. Do a test hp to hp.
I know this comment is two years old, but it’s hilarious. Suggesting that a gas 25hp lawnmower with 365 lb rated lift is more capable than a 5000 lb 55hp diesel. 😂 if the x585 works for you, that’s great. I have a 40hp 6000lb JD 4120 that is much more comparable to the size of the T450 you mention. I was loading clay into a dump truck yesterday, then spreading it. I carefully evaluated skid steer vs compact tractor when buying, and a tractor was the clear choice for maintaining my 10 acre hillside property, based on the side stability (I widened the stock wheel setup that has 8 width configurations available), and the 3pt and PTO for various more affordable attachments. It’s the largest frame size JD offers in hydrostatic, and it’s a great machine, easy to repair, etc. But the productivity is nowhere near a skid steer for things a skid steer does well (moving material especially in tight areas). The real value is in the flexibility for various uses and attachments.

I'm thinking I'd want a more aggressive track. This fine track that is on it seems to slip out a lot. Guess it depends on your work too. Engine seems up to the job though, working but not dying before the tracks slip out. I like it when it slides sideways that there is no inclination for the tracks to slip off. The new door is a big improvement.. As is the new position of the bucket hydraulics. HATE the location of the battery :(. The S70 was the worst, just try to replace that battery quickly, not happening. Anyway, good video, thanks kindly

@kamala says heels up, dont shoot def doesn't rob power, it doesn't even touch the engine, it gets injected in the last stage of the after-treatment system, thru a reaction with the ammonia and the precious metal in the scr it turns the carbon monoxides and the nox, into water vapor and nitrogen, in other words atmosphere, your thinking of the EGR part of the after-treatment

I would like to see it up against another machine like an Asv, or Takeuchi , there’s good and a lot of bad about bobcat, but without seeing another machine doing the same thing can’t really make an accurate claim to say another machine would make it up there easily

my bobcat dealer doesnt stock very many parts, so it always takes two trips.
Ive operated alot of the brands an many hr on each of them. honestly bobcat is my less liked of them all, all aound. but they get the job done. if im going to have to pick my favorite, it's the Kubota svl 75 or the 95. i love the door on it, it can get around everywhere no problem, an loading a truck its the best, an they have the power, i just wish the ac was better they got it all on one side lol
Got quite a few hours on an SVL75 no complaints running a tracked skid steer isn’t my cup of tea that’s for sure.
I dont mind to run skid steers but i would much rather be on a dozer, trackhoe or track loader actually anything big really lol but i opeorated on for alittle more than 3year for a custom house builder. it was alittle tank ive cut out alot of crawl spaces with it everything else that comes with the outside of a house beside digging footer an utilities i did that part 2 lol but an all its ever had to worked on is routine services

Stan Bobcat is the only brand I know that offers a remote control that way for demolition a guy doesn't get trapped you can start and turn it off from the remote so you can put a GoPro on the cab and operate it from the cab of your truck if your down a guy during snow clearing season or forest tree removal if it's swamppy you don't have a guy trapped the remote is available for all the compact track loaders from the T 450 and up the remote is just a plug and play system maybe even the tire version as well
I have had demo units from all brands just recently and the 333g smoked them all. Only thing I did not like was no 2 speed

A site like that is the perfect example of why all the CTL brands won't put them up head to head against an ASV. It would be utterly embarrassing for them.
That’s real life fact! They won’t acknowledge Asv exist. They will steel a suspended undercarriage though.
We almost pulled the trigger on a asv/telex however in our shale rock dirt that we are in most of the time we were told the rubber undercarriage would not hold up. And I can see why they say it. In snow mud i would say it is better. We went with Takeuchi tl12 and could not be happier

It sounds like it's in high but it's an impressive machine if it wasn't in high then its a bit underpowered for the tracks but overall a nice machine

As a former Cat dozer operating engineer. There is no comparison, but i like the final drive up. Multi roller on tracks. But it seriously seems to be lacking the torque needed. Tracking up a slope is a skill within its self. I’d be looking at what else is out there.

Either rev is all the way up or take it out of two speed. The t76 is an absolute beast and should be more than capable for what you’re doing

I bought a brand new Bobcat T76 about a year and a half ago. The machine was such a disappointment on so many levels. I think the video showed that! I went out and bought JCB 270T and could not be happier. It out performs T76 hands down. Dont make the same mistake I did! Steer clear!
@9:50, ASV Coming to put track back on, like when? 24x7 or when they get around to doing it, like your machine will be out of commission on the side of a hill for 2 weeks until they come out? Who can afford to be down so long? Usually, I can have a track back on by myself in 2-3 hours depending on where it threw it. The Bobcat seemed stable, but didn't seem like it had a lot of traction, could just be those treads. Good real world demo here!
usually within a couple hours, at worst you'll loose a day, for most of us it's not a big deal, unless your one of those dead beats that are constantly behind on jobs because of your great work ethics
Before all the other brand fanboys come to the comments without any knowledge and say “ItS uNdErPoWeReD”, this is a 76HP, 8k-9k pound machine and it’s supposed to replace the T650. They do not make a bigger one yet. Don’t come in the comments thinking this is a T870, 299 size machine, it isn’t.

Either he is in high gear or it's woefully under powered. I have a new T870, yes it's wider tracks and more HP but it's also 12900lbs and it has no problems on slopes like that.
This compares in size to the Kubota SVL-75 but this is just sad to watch 😂 the Kubota has wayyy more power and work to it than most.

How much did they spend on this $70 grand ? I noticed my local bobcat dealers don’t put sticker prices on any of their equipment. It bothers the f** out of me Bc I don’t know if I’m getting a good deal or not, something permanently marked down or the dealer’s discount
