One time in my life I experienced something sort of similar. Me and my friend were steelheading and I caught 19 and he caught 15 out of the same hole there were hundreds... a time in my life I will NEVER forget. Keep up the amazing footage its awesome to watch.
This is amazing!! One of my favorite things to watch, and it gives you so much more confidence in a technique. Make one of these using jigs and different colors. And beads of different sizes and colors please! Would like to see how they react to the bigger beads like 14, 16, 20mm. Subscribed 🔥
Thank you so much!! Please check out my other Steelhead vids for jig strikes. They'll hit anything round in any colour/size including sinkers - they love split shot! I use fresh Salmon eggs tied loosely so they get fed a bit. Keeps them interested. See 'Behind the Scenes' for a how to film thing.
@@thefish-eyeview7733 so cool man, I won’t be overthinking the split shot anymore. I mean I just watched them attack the shot and the bobber too hahah. Got a nice hen today with confidence from your video, Thank you🎣
Your videos are so incredible I’ve filmed under water rock bass strikes and looked like childs play compared to what you do! I just subbed and am starting down the rabbit hole!
Thx. I’m in BC & heading out tomorrow for a 5 day trip on the Chilliwack system. We’ve had excessive rain & flooding here but hopefully that will also have brought in a ton of fish. Thx again for that most interesting video observation of those beauties taking bait.
Thanks for the great comments! Believe it or not I'm based in Toronto (Etobicoke) as well. Do all my filming in Ont. and PQ. Have 3 years of weekly posts ahead. Rick
Me: agonizes over choosing between a #1 and #2 hook. Steelhead: eats float. LOL. Great footage. I really appreciate your content. Though I have to say that to me a steelhead is an anadromous rainbow. These look like creek spawning lake rainbows.
You're right, they're Great Lakes fish in Ontario. Grew up calling them Rainbows. Don't know who started calling them Steelhead but it stuck. They're not the same as ocean run fish but still a lot of fun! Thanks for watching.
Very interesting. Some trying to eat the bobber. The distance between the egg and sinker was about 6 inches or so. Still, fish appear to be aiming to eat the egg. This video makes me wonder if a natural drift may or may not be necessary. Thank you very much.
Actually I'm in Ontario where this was filmed, but I fish a lot in New York and Penn State, before Covid that is. Those Steelhead runs in Erie even have this place beat. Trout Run? You can walk across them - literally!
Sure no problem. If you let me know the time frames I'll send you a link with the footage in full resolution. I doubt you could use anything that is streamed on youtube - it's that poor in comparison. My email address is on one of my earlier Steelhead vids.
Yes, actually my email is at the end of THIS video, LOL, if you wish better footage please feel free to contact me.. I do have hundreds of hours of Steelhead footage never seen before....and likely won't be. I do that much filming. Just send me a link to your video when done. Or take it off the air. It won't look very good, however. Rick
For filming I use 6 lb Green 100% Fluorocarbon (Berkley), since I don't use hooks, and I let them break the bags and get fed. When fishing (am a Steelhead nut) its the same in 4 lb - great stuff in green (hard to find now). Rick
@@thefish-eyeview7733 sorry again which rod you use or set up please and thank you crazy stuff I never see like this job amazing , period, to you doing amazing
@@claudiu1967 The rod in the video was a 10 ft. Loomis (Bronzeback series) rod, a Phleuger spinning reel and small floats (Sail store). I prefer this for filming, or the Fenwick series of Steelhead rods at Sail, over the usual centre pin reels you see on the rivers. I know you might ask "where is this??" - no problem! - it's the Wilmot Cr east of Toronto, south of highway 2 (extended season area) filmed last year in December after a big run came in - NOBODY FISHING!!! Please share my videos with your friends - I just started posting and need help getting seen!! Thanks again. Rick
No problem. When filming I use 3/0 or number 7's (round split shot - gremlin) to get down fast in front of the camera. When fishing it's best to start with 7's and go down to BB or smaller close to the hook (Daiachi 1150 #12/14's). In clear water I use 2-3 Chinook eggs per bag, 4-6 in dirty water. Stay tuned for many, many more posts that talk about this and so very much more!
@@claudiu1967 Sure, no problem. I use a shorter 10 ft rod. Most prefer a 12 ft float rod and centre pin reel. Same rig as for Steelhead, but stick with 6 lb fluorocarbon tippet on a nanofil or braid backing. The same for a spinning reel. Or try fly fishing with an 8/9 wt rod - 6lb tippet and wooly buggers or egg sucking leeches in various colours. Hope this helps.
This is the most epic video I have seen. That’s insane

Can’t... stop... watching... bobber down, fish on !
After filming them I broke down, put on a hook and had some fun....to say the least! Man they're great fish!! Thanks for watching. Rick
Excellent footage ❤️
I just realized I wasn’t subscribed. I’m gonna start binge watching now
Thanks - I need help with this channel!

Great video, really enjoyed it.
Great work. You make it look soooo easy!

Amazing video, thanks!
Great vid!
Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed!
This footage is Crazy! Keep up these trout vids. It's so fascinating to see them actually take the bait.
That you for the kind words! Will keep posting.
Holy moly how you got that close to fish and had them still hit was incredible
Thanks!! Lost of time and patience till they figure you're not a threat...and part of the scenery. LOL

That was great footage.
I’d be interested in the water temperature. Those fish were pretty active biters.
Following a powerful cold snap (that formed ice on river edges) the water temp was rising rapidly that day to 50 F, jump starting the fish.

Did I just see a steelhead eat a bead then the weight😂😂😂 Good content, got me jonesing for the spring run
Buggers will hit anything round. Had hundreds hit a #3/0 or 7 shot! That's why we come up clean on so many hits
I've had a few times where the fish shows more interest in my splitshot than the bait
Let me know please what you use for Salmon rod, length, weight, tippet,Maine line pp lease and thank you again!!!!
Your local tackle shop could answer those questions. Good luck.
