For those wondering, this gentleman is 95 years old. I found an hour long interview with him here ruclips.net/video/3IjmHuSUdLQ/видео.html (not AO, sadly :( )
Thank you so much for highlighting this man and his winery! We are vacationing on the Oregon coast next month, and will now be making sure to drive a few hours North to pay Mr. van der Veldt a visit!
I started going to Astoria every fall starting in 1982 for the Great Columbia Crossing run across the Astoria-Megler bridge. Almost always go to the winery and have a wonderful visit with Mr. van der Veldt and of course buy some wine. Thank you for this video, it captures him perfectly.
We have been visiting Sallon Winery since the early 80's. An important part of our visit every October for the Great Columbia Crossing Run across the Astoria-Megler bridge. Always look forward to visiting with Paul and purchasing some wine. One of my favorites it the wild blackberry.
Haha, this was as quirky as any Tiny desk concert on NPR but without the music ...i dont drink wine and the only reason i clicked is because i misread and thought it said desert winery, as soon as i saw the large print of the open window i realized my mistake but watched anyway as this guy looks like quite a character

I've met this guy. He's great. So glad to see he's still kicking.
What a delightful man.
Nicely done documentary about an interesting man and subject. Thank you!
What a wonderful guy. I hope I get to visit soon.
Does anybody know the song?
