Before he became the leader of the nWo and before he turned heel at WCW Bash at the Beach, Hulk Hogan dabbled in the dark side in 1995. The Dungeon of Doom pushed Hogan over the edge by shaving off his legendary facial-hair on an episode of Monday Nitro, and this act led to Hulk Hogan exploring his heel side (a little).
While wearing all black gear and promising to do what he had to do in order to save Hulkamania and the Hulkamaniacs, Hogan went to Halloween Havoc 1995 to face The Giant in both a Monster Truck match and a standard World Title wrestling match later in the evening. Hulk dropped the WCW Championship to the Giant, and Macho Man Randy Savage would join Hogan's cause afterwards. It turned out that a match with Sting would help Hogan return to the "light side" of WCW.
"There's no Hulkamaniacs in here!?"
That's been my go-to quote for years whenever I walk into somewhere by accident like the women's toilets or something.
I still say it almost every time I walk into a dark room. It might be one of the two or three lines in wrestling that has resonated with me most throughout my life
Aaahhh! It's not hot! Well then what's the problem?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'VE NEVER BEEN HERE BEFORE!
mine is "its...its the YETI!!!" when I haven't seen a friend for a while
"The moustache kept Hogan on the straight and narrow". That line alone is getting a like, brother!
Its crazy when u think about it. It was un-American to cut that stache off. As long as I been around he's had it and waaaaay before me.
Hulk Hogan with that sword is so ridiculous it catches me off guard every time.
It's not Hot!
"... There's no Hulkamaniacs in here, brother!"
It WAS a cool sword though! Lol.
Telling Savage to “bring me the head of Meng on a silver platter” is what always gets me.
@@michaelsinger4638 Hulk Hogan treating cold water like a caveman who discovered fire.

😂😂😂
Ahhh!
Its-not-HOT!!!
@@SegaDream131 😂😂😂
@@SegaDream131 I was a little disappointed that wasn't left in lol, I was waiting for it.
Lmao
the drugs backstage in WCW during 95' were fantastic.
I never knew that Hulk Hogan found his courage, strength, and determination from his moustache. Learn new things every day!
He's the wrestling Samson and Kevin Sullivan was his Delilah
He also finds new energy when Randy Savage gives him the elbow drop!
He was never the same Hogan again.
It came from his lil hulkamNiax
The “….8 months later…” faster delivery was hysterical and spot on 😂
Lmao 😂😂😂
6:44 "Don't worry about me, Hulkster. I demand you finish things with The Giant." - Lung Transplant Kid.
🤣🤣🤣
I can only imagine just what Vince McMahon must have been thinking when he saw his once huge star on Nitro wearing a mask, a hooded robe and brandishing a sword. LMAO 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
7:08 “the dastardly old b****” I damn near spit my lunch out 😂
The head of Meng on a silver platter is an all time line. Also, Hulk Hogan with no mustache is a cursed image.
I watched WCW religiously back then yet I don't remember this.
"Just when you think this f**k couldn't get anymore clustered" is one of the greatest things I've ever heard! I'm gonna have to start using that in everyday parlance.
Couldn't agree more......had me lmfao. Definitely stealing this!
The outtakes at the end had me in stitches. Top work, sir.
I 2nd this 👍
Yes sir.
Me,top👍
Same here! 😆
Hogan. Egomaniac. Ahole. He Ruined a lot of wrestling.
This is one of the best series on all of RUclips.
Yessir 💪🏾💯✊🏾
Truth.
The outtakes at the end had me rolling 😂😂😂😂.
WCW blunder blunders
Hulk Hogan acting or trying to be the Phantom of the Opera with that ridiculous mask made me laugh so hard at my office right now and even my co-workers thought I was on something....Thank you Wrestling Bios!!
That Hogan quote absolutely should be on a t-shirt.
This was great. We need a what I call “Matador Sting” video next, which took place roughly at the same time as this dark hogan phase
Yes
I've been binge watching your videos for the past few months. Haven't watched wrestling since the early 2000s. Bringing me back to my teenage years of flipping back and forth between WCW and WWF in the late 90s. I found an old autograph I got from the Ultimate Warrior from the early 90s.
Love this !
I honestly love this whole thing each week hogan lost his mind more and more. From his paranoia of Luger and Sting coming for his belt to coming out in medieval cosplay and above all else ordering the Macho man to preform a hit and beheading of Meng on live TV. They DO say that your best work in wrestling comes when their wrestling persona is just like their real life persona.
Then they tried to copy that by having him slowly lose his mind when they brought Warrior in.
I'd love a video on late 1999 Bossman heel work from his cooking of Pepper to towing Big Show's dad's casket while he rides it.
During this time I wasn't watching WCW, so as you can imagine seeing a mustacheless, black bandana wearing Hulk Hogan before his rise with the nWo was confusing to me. Thank you for making this video it sure help explain a lot.
Yeah, I watched it on the network recently, I never knew Hogan wore black and teased a heel turn before the NWO.
What have we done to make you remember this terrible time again
Thank you Ryan, I love all of your content and this WCW blunder series is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Don't get me wrong nothing tops RtW and the RtW ppv series but these are nice thank you very much for your consistency and dedication to your fan base. I respect you Bio-Man.
Side note: I love the blooper reel at the end that was fantastic. Wouldn't mind seeing more of those at the end of RtW and what not xD.
Couldn't have said it better myself man, he's the GOAT of wrestling youtube in my book.
Wait his name's Ryan? When did this become known
yeah RYAN
Ah come on don't smarten us up
@@joehooker7522 there is a Q&A video on the channel where he answered alot of questions some personal and some about the channel. Check that out when you get a chance it's a good look into his personality.
Ahh, yes... Hogan's "Proto-Hollywood" phase... Him wearing all black with sunglasses, and trying to give "dark" promos was about as cringeworthy an angle as I had ever seen up to that point... mostly because he was still trying to be a babyface. Hard to buy into the "new, more dark, more edgy" Hulkster when he is still giving Hulkamania era promos in the ring.
It was just... weird.
That said, it did eventually work... when he finally decided to go full heel.
During his NWO Hogan run, especially in the early days of it. He would go into classic “say your prayers and eat your vitamins”‘type Hogan promos. During the black and white NWO promo videos which were aired during 96. Featuring the original incarnation of the NWO. They had to heavily edit the promos afterwards, so that his promo came across as completely different, afterwards.
@@martynodonnell8467 I'm sure after doing them for 12 years, it was hard to break the cycle.
@@num1Jaysta "All my Hulkaman...no wait scratch that. Cut, let's do this thing again".
Yeah, at first they had to heavily edit his promos down for the NWO stuff, he’d go into a five minute promo and they’d use 30 seconds taken from different parts. Hahaha.
They were planting the seeds by this point. We never saw it coming. We knew they were testing Hogan and testing the waters for a heel turn during this time
This entire series is outstanding. Really enjoying the content!
Omg yes! This if one of the worst/most hilarious angles ever! I remember laughing hardcore at this & considering I was 8, that really says something..
Anything WCW and Hogan on this channel is absolutely perfect.
😮...That dastardly ole bench❗️❗️❗️
Venice Beach Guitar Guy (16:03) is a goddamned legend. I remember seeing him when I lived near there from 2008 to 2011. I haven't been back since. I hope he's still there, skating around, playing the same riff over and over.
His name is Harry Perry. Great guy!
I just saw a TikTok last week, he doesn't have the roller blades though
I know he was following Dead and Company on tour summer 2023, every damn stop on the tour I had to see people bragging on their stupid pictures with the millionaire homeless man that people love for some reason.
For real, serious legend. I saw him everytime I visited Venice growing up in the 90s.
This mini series of wcw blunder is truly golden! Love your content.
Blunder might be the best stuff on this channel. I love the career retrospective documentaries a lot but this stuff is just so much fun.
the bloopers at the end were priceless. Id love to hear more of these when they happen lmao
I laughed when you said it straight faced. hearing you break and laugh just made it all the more funny :D
I've been watching 1985 WCW recently, I wanna learn about the history of the product.
The fact that we went from Billy Jack and Ric Flair to this is staggering
It makes since once you get to the Jim Herd bs.
Gotta admit this has become my favorite wrestling channel with the jokes and reliving history..been a fan since before Reliving the War and you and botchamania do wrestling fans such a service with these videos.
Undertaker drew his power from the urn.
Hogan drew his power from his mustache.
“Hogan knows who his friends are, he’ll never question Sting again. The boys are back in town and Hogan won’t be turning evil again anytime soon…
eight months later, Hogan joined the nWo and his biggest rival would turn out to be Sting.”
18:00 “before Randy could cut his opponents head off” hahahahah omg that killed me
This program was one of my first memories of wrestling as a child, and I loved every minute of it.
3:49 "There's no Hulkamaniacs here!!" Look around you. WHY WOULD THERE BE?? 😂
"There's no Hulkamaniacs here !!!" 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Figured this would make WCW blunder but darkside hogan is still the of Hulkimania
Mid 90's WCW is a mixture of nostalgia, depressive and a dream/nightmare
I thought after it happened WCW was gonna wake up and say it was all a dream. That everything we witnessed was a dream state.
So I walk into my local chicken shop and decide to watch this video on my phone while I wait for my meal, when suddenly across the shop I notice a random guy watching the same video on his phone while eating his food. 🤣👌
You've both got the jam.
Oh it’s sad you have no one to talk to about it and you have to speak to a computer or phone
I'm a proud little Wrestling Biomaniac.
...or Biomoid. lol
Dude, we need more bloopers…they were hilarious!!
I keep coming back to this one. Still laugh just as hard.
The best thing to come from the dungeon of doom was that time Hogan no sold that scalding hot water.
It's not Hot!
And ya could TOTALLY tell he was heel cause of how he ignored all the Hulkamaniacs that were there. Must've been atleast like 12 lol
you gotta be the hardest working content creator out there. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
Oh no this is where Stings hair started turning black. Darkside Hogan made Crow Sting. It's all starting to make sense
I call this forcing a character change rather than going with the flow and build up. Like the Hulk Hogan return and heel turn. Perfect timing to get heel heat and it changed the game.
Still better than Hogan's hair piece at Halloween Havoc 96
Lol
Hey, the Bart Simpson look was over brother!
What hogan wore hair peace?
@@arslaanpasha3334he wore a Surfer Sting style blonde spiked toupe for a match v Savage in 1996.
It looked pretty cool and gave him a new look, but savage ripped it off his head during the match
With the loss of the mustache his secret power, creative control.
Another awesome upload from the greatest wrestling channel on the planet!
The “dark side” Hogan angle proved they were trying to do something completely different with Hogan. Hogan had been doing the same thing for so long now. He had gone past stale, the fans were sick of him by this point. However the problem was, what to do with him. Therefore dark side Hogan was an experiment they tried, but failed.
More like hardcore WCW fans didn't like Hogan bringing the WWF style to WCW.
Probably my favorite series along with reliving the war I always learn something new that I didn't know before.
This entire video is hilarious! WCW put out the most ridiculous content in the 90s.
Shaven Hulk and Durag Vince Mcmahon are two of the funniest and most entertaining heels ever.
So weird how "Dark Side Hogan" looked like Jesse "The Body" Ventura and he hated Jesse Ventura. So confused! 🤨🤔
@16:04 that is legendary Venice Beach icon Harry Perry. Here's been there for decades and still there today. Look him up!
As a small kid it was all WWF to me. It wasn't until later that I realized my dad was turning on WCW during those early Hogan years. I could just see Macho Man and Hogan so it was all WWF in my little mind.
Because it was, the WWF was taking over professional wrestling and turning WCW into the WWF with its influence on the business.
You must have been a du mbass child !
@@autobotstarscream765basically yep.
The only wrestling that even attempts to take itself seriously in America now is like MLW.
Bro you have become my favorite RUclipsr. I can’t lie I really haven’t watched wrestling consistently since 03 but I’m having a very big nostalgia high watching all these videos. I’m finally caught up on Monday night wars!
This is my favorite RUclips series on wrestling. Keep at it :)
This is more 'Basic Cable Action Star' Hogan than 'Hollywood' Hogan
Blunder in Paradise
It's official and I'm ready to come to terms and admit the truth. I will watch(and instantly like) anything wrestling bios puts out because it is all pure high quality gold! I mean the guy puts out at least three videos a week and they are all at least 15 minutes, sometimes 45 minutes. That is a crazy amount of outstanding content that we all love and enjoy. Never change Ryan, you definitely have the jam! You deserve every cent you receive on patreon my man!
I’m starting to think this is better than OSW Review….
Hell I barely watched wrestling in the 80s and only had another brief phase circa 1997-1998 and I love these. Wrestling history has consumed me for months, and these videos tell all sorts of stories I never knew about.
Awesome video 💯 I'm loving this series and I remember like it was yesterday back in ' 95 when " Darkside " Hogan appeared then we got classic Hogan back 1 month later fun times 😎
I had forgot all about that experiment, but I did follow Hulk Hogan's switch to WCW in the summer of 1994, I recall watching bits of World War 3 in 1995, and then I got really interested in WCW again when Hogan turned heel with the nWo in 1996. Thank you for the great summary. Wrestling in the first half of the 1990s could truly become amazingly bizarre.
Even without Hogan’s mustache, it’s like you can still see it there. Crazy.
I swear I could watch your videos all day long, love the channel, keep up the great work
THIS IS HILARIOUS! One of the best videos you have ever done. Thank you for the entertainment.
Amazing video as always. The outtakes at the end had me in stitches.
Honestly, the pre-nWo Hogan in WCW era is very fascinating to me because I didn't even know he was in WCW pre-nWo until 2009 when I first found video of The Yeti dry-humping Hogan at Halloween Havoc in an old video of worst wrestling gimmicks alongside stuff like The Goon, Phantasio, and The Shockmaster.
I'm not even joking, until I was 13 or 14 (depending on when in 2009 it was), I thought Hogan's WCW debut was him forming the nWo.
This should show how damn important Hall & Nash were to Hulk Hogan’s heel turn. If they never came to WCW, they probably would have done like 3 years of Mustacheless Vaguely Evil Hogan. Very Nice, Very Evil, Hoganhausen.
Hulk Hoganhausen: Give me your monies and eat your vitamins or I’ll curse you, brother.
This series is pure gold and laughs. Keep up the good work. More Blunder videos please!
Slap every little Hulkster there is . . . priceless . . . 🤣🤣. . . this stuff writes itself . . . there is no better time than the past . . . oh, what I miss about it to this day . . . a wonderful time before social media . . . 🤗🤗
I'm so glad there are so many other people who enjoy wrestling content. 🙌
Undertakermania running wild brother
95WCW and 2000 WCW seem a lifetime apart even though it's only 5 years
That’s amazing how Sting was his first and last major rival 😆
Ive watched this 3 times in 24 hours and I keep picking up hilarious one liners. "The doom show up before Macho man can cut off mings head!"
I'm a big wrestling fan and I never know this dark side Hulk Hogan was a thing 🤨. As always THANK You!!
This was weird because Hogan was still a babyface but he had some heel tendencies.
"But I'm still the face!"
He always had heel tendencies.
Remember when he screwed Sid over after Sid eliminated him from the Royal Rumble fair and square?
Hogan wearing a hooded cloak makes me think he was going for his best Emperor Palpatine impression here.
Love all your videos! Please do more outtakes. We need them!
Amazing work ! I appreciate you so much bro 🥰
Its almost like the mustache kept him on the straight and narrow lmao.
As if you couldn't get any more awesome you include an outtake , i implore you to include more if you ever( highly unlikely ) make a mistake.
Thanking you ever so much for all the amazing wrestling Bios uploads
1:32 but that’s the thing; even their most cartoony character had a serious side. Because Sting’s face paint started as a Road Warriors rip off and those guys were always taken very seriously (as was Sting because in his early years he was fairly high energy and high impact too) the face paint in wrestling wasn’t seen as a purely kiddie gimmick thing. You could take it that way (like Warrior did with his nonsensical promos) but it wasn’t by default thought of as being that kind of gimmick.
Your outtakes at the end are HILARIOUS!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
The dark side Hogan was just the higher ups in WCW testing the waters to see the reaction of the crowd for the door to open for Hollywood Hogan.
This has easily become one of my favorite channels
Lol @ the ending blooper, appreciate you throwing that in there
WCW Blunder is starting to reach that RtW hype, even surpassing it because we know it isn't good but make the content so enjoyable to go through
Love the bloopers at the end. Well done for getting a clean take 😂
If Hogan hadn't been doing the dark side stuff around this time, we may have gotten to see red and yellow Hogan vs. Surfer Sting. That's a low key dream match for me. To my knowledge, I don't think that match ever happened on TV.
i like how Giant was booked when he was booked as Andre's illegitamate son.😎
Hogan wearing Kevin Sullivan's Taskmaster headpaint at Halloween Havoc 95 was confusing.
Best wrestling channel out there. Next level documentaries.
The idea of Kevin Sullivan bitch slapping the little Hulkamaniacs is hilarious.
if hes still fighting for all the Hulkamanics asll around the world, its not a hell turn.
