FYI, woo-jin (villain)'s revenges also include "killing himself in the last" since he think himself that he is the last person to kill his sister by letting go his hold of her hand. By killing himself, he finishes a journey of revenge for his sister.
I also think Woo-jin is the "old boy" because he is old but his life was stuck in his teens when he killed his sister. The movie "Old boy" was never about Oh Dae-su, it was about Woo-jin and his revenge all along.
Saw this movie for the first time a couple days ago on the theater for the 20th anniversary, and it was one of the most richest experience I got watching it. The way the movie is shot, and the music and subtle shifts between action, horror, and comedy were just brilliant. The bittersweet ending stuck with me.
Very well said! Watching this in theater must’ve been a special experience. I wish. I agree, the shifts in genre was quite a great experience. What do you think about that ending? Do you think he remember?
This movie is a pure masterpiece!!!. I want to see more of your Korean movie reactions!I recommend The Handmaiden(2016),Parasite(2019),The Chaser(2008)
South Korean cinema sure does know how to leave an audience emotionally exhausted. That soundtrack is definitely one of my favorites. Curiously, each track is named after a movie title. Interesting fact, Choi Min-Sik is Buddhist, so every time he did a take eating the live octopus, he said a prayer for the octopus.
Whenever you see a movie or video game do a one shot hallway fight scene from a paneramic camera angle that removes one wall, where it ends with the character looking forward and the camera looking back at the bodies they dropped, that's an Oldboy reference. That exact fight you were talking about in Level 1 in Sifu, was an Oldboy reference, it even ends on the same "look at all the bodies he dropped while he's looking at the door" camera angle. (Such a good game btw.)
That is awesome. I'm glad I got to see the OG reference and all its Glory. For real. SIFU was a crazy game to get used to but when is finally clicks, you feel like a god.
Your mind is so brilliant! :) I watched your Interstellar reaction and this one and I am so surprised that you get almost everything instantly. And you're right, this villain is probably one of the best out there.
Thank you so much!! I love stories like these because they are so thought-provoking. Definitely one of the best ones I’ve ever seen. Thanks for watching.
This film and Pan's Labyrinth opened my world to international cinema and ive never looked back! All my favourite movies are ones with a good twist and this might be the catalyst for it. You were asking what was in the daughters box and you probably worked out that it was the information that she slept with her father. But she never opens it so she never finds out. In the end the father chooses to be hypnotised to forget so he can stay in a relationship with his daughter which is just the icing on the cake of messed up things in this film 😅
I dont fully remember the exact details, but apparently the actor for Oh Dae-su doesnt eat meat or kill animals, but had to fully commit to eating that live squid. It took a couple shots and I think he prayed each time. Its also a great moment in the movie because it shows Dae-su's intense desire to just *kill* something
Let’s gooooooooo!!! I hope you enjoy. Good movie for sure. I can’t believe I never heard of this movie till recently. By the way, do you have any favorite movies that you’d like to see a reaction of?
@@FrankFreezy_ It's really cool to see you gathering suggestions from your viewers! I would love to see a reaction of the maze runner movie trilogy (1-3). The movie is a adaptation from the famous novel and it did NOT dissapoint. I'm always unsure about movies that have more than 2 sequels because they often kill the series all together. This might be the only trilogy that stays consistently great without feeling dull. The maze runner trilogy has good plot, good acting and great twists. You don't need to read or know about the books at all before watching the movie. 📚 Cheers man 🤙
Of course. I like to get recommendations from the viewers that are actually supporting my videos. I want to reward you guys with more of what you like, and obviously I can also discover a lot of new stuff. It’s a win-win The Maze Runner is one of those movies that I’ve always heard we’re great. But never actually watched them. So this is good. Thanks for elaborating🙌🏾
Oh Dae-Su's actor is a vegetarian Buddhist. Before the octopus-eating scene, he apologized to and said a prayer for each octopus before filming. They filmed 4 takes.
35:05 ~ 35:11 wow. i'm pressed. you're so fast, mr. i've watched pretty much every reaction video of "old boy" on you tube, including american remake version, but i think you're at least one of the top 3. that's something, isn't it? you're like 1 ~ 3 out of 30~40 people that have reacted to this movie. how do you feel about being a medalist, bro? i can't be too sure whether you're the fastest or not, but you're definately one of the top 3. i'd like to challenge you with this korean horror movie named "r-point" i can't tell you anything except that it's a mysterious horror movie but, if you watch this movie and figure it out, that will be really something. fun fact this movie, "r-point" has 4 theories from the fans. i've got my own theory, as well, but all 4 of them makes sense to a degree, yet all 4 of them have some plot holes, at the same time. the reason for that, i can tell you if you choose to watch it. i'd like to suggest you to watch this at night, of course, and preferably when it's raning. come to think of it, it will be the best if you can wait until next summer, as the movie unfolds in viet nam, so, if you watch "r-point" on a rainy summer night, that will be superb ! thanks for your reaction, dab !
Thanks. I was so locked into the movie that the moment his hand touched the photo album, I went through dozens of possibilities in my brain and him being the father made the most sense. That definitely messed up my brain for a few seconds. Thank you thank you for putting me your top three lol very honored. And sorry my guy I cannot watch a horror movie. I haven't seen a horror movie since I was 11 years old. The way you described this movie it absolutely sounds like something I would love if I was into horror movies. You know a story is really good when it has so many fan theories out there that all sound appealing. Unfortunately I may never watch it. Thanks for watching my video
@@FrankFreezy_oh, well, bummer, eh? i'd like to challenge you, or more like i'd wanted to see you challenge this movie cause it's got complex theories and wanted to see how fast you grab with the truth, but if horror movies are not your thing, i understand. horror, it maybe but it's an old korean horror, so oldboy might be more gorey than r-point. anyways .... i don't knows ... would you like some funny movie, then? there is not buddy cop comedy movie called "extreme job" a.k.a "극한 직업" it's a korean movie and there's a couple of blood scene, tho we don't see it. apart from that, it's quite funny and i'd like to recommend you to watch it when you're having a bad day and just want to laugh it off or something. and for the top 3 thingy, you don't have to thank me. you ARE one of the top 3 people that i've seen who have realised that she was his daughter, so it's not like i did anything for you, you were just very quick. i don't think i've figured it out 1st time i watched it. come to think of it, i've watched the american remake version first, because i didn't know where to find korean version, but american remake version was on you tube. the full movie was free so ... well ... ta-ta ~ 👋👋
ouuu 🫢 I don't know if I can do actual horror because I am too scared. I just watched train to Busan. And zombies are my limit. Anything after that, I am way too scared to watch.
This movie was wild😳 very stressful but such a great film
@@FrankFreezy_ Watch incendies.
It is the most disturbing movie
With same shocking twist in ending
From India🇮🇳
One of the best written and shot films in history. The hallway fight scene started the trend that tons of other movies do now.
I absolutely agree. I love that this movie got recommended and that I got a chance to watch it. Epic scenes
@@FrankFreezy_ It's just definitely not a movie you can recommend to anyone. A lot of people wouldn't be able to handle the plot.
That’s a fact! Such a masterful brutal plot and twist
"Laugh and the World laughs with you, weep and you weep alone." Man that quote stayed with me for years and comforts me in the darkest times.

The selfending guy at the beginning was in love with his dog and was shamed for it. Thats what he meant with the famous quote.
The hallway scene in 'Oldboy' was actually the reference for figting animation in the game 'Sifu'
Hell yeah. It’s great to see the origin of the hallway fight scenes that’s so many movies and TV shows have adapted.
I see an Oldboy movie reaction and I like and subscribe.
Respect 🫡🙏🏾
I think it’s the best revenge story I’ve ever known. It’s just not the revenge for the protagonist, but rather the antagonist.
Absolutely. And I think that's what makes it very interesting. Revenge movies are usually based on the protagonist
35:00 that part
