hmm.. not sure about that. just straight up lipsyncing to the CD track kinda gives me the impression they (the company) have no intention of letting them sing live and have any flaws shown. seems to be somewhat of an unfortunate trend post-pandemic. aespa has the same issue. Aespa always uses a prerecorded track that they change up a little every couple performances so it sounds different for different performances of the same song. A lot of groups lipsync in the first week of promotion, it's been like that for years, but the fact that they only used the cd version made me think they would sing live in the second week and they did 😊 I believe their kbs stage from 2 days ago is especially very clear :)
You say that like you think a lot of groups sing live after the first week. But singing with 90% coming from the backing track isn't exactly the definition of live. I mean some backing track is fine, you can't have perfect vocals while doing choreo - I get that, but they should make an effort to be using the BT only to cover up instabilities or false notes, not as a crutch to lean on full time - I'm not talking about I've here, just kpop in general. But if you can let me know which performance you mean (for I've) I'll go watch it. I haven't seen them all as I admit I don't know much about I've but this song is catchy as hell.

Groups like itzy, stayc, dreamcatcher, ive, purple kiss, stray kids have all been singing live pretty consistently even if for some songs they rely more on the backtrack but you can always hear them live. I think the fact that sm doesn't let their artists sing live anymore really gave people the impression that all artists suddenly don't ever sing live anymore which is not the case if you really go and look at the live stages. I will say tho it depends on the broadcasting station as well. For example most mnet stages are lipsynced or there is very heavy backtrack and very soft vocals but then if you look at kbs stages there are a lot more artists who sing live there with a much quieter backtrack. It really depends on what groups you follow I guess. Still faint I have to say, or maybe it's that they are putting different mic levels on different members? or only louder singing is breaking thru, not sure. That a lot of groups were not singing live thru the pandemic audience restrictions was something I was also hoping was the case and not something permanent. Although you can agree there has been a definite trend over the last few years, like you say with SM especially. The danger is if 1 major company does it (no live vocals) and then other big companies follow so their idols don't appear to be singing less well, it's will be more and more incentive for everyone else to follow suite. I will say tho that during the height of covid a lot of groups did not sing live but I can kinda understand that since there was no audience but now that the audience is back it seems more people are singing live again. @@xBlueEyedGoldilocks Appreciate the link as I looked at 4 or so stages yesterday and didn't see one with audible live vocals. This one I agree you can definitely hear them. Still faint I have to say, or maybe it's that they are putting different mic levels on different members? or only louder singing is breaking thru, not sure.
That a lot of groups were not singing live thru the pandemic audience restrictions was something I was also hoping was the case and not something permanent. Although you can agree there has been a definite trend over the last few years, like you say with SM especially. The danger is if 1 major company does it (no live vocals) and then other big companies follow so their idols don't appear to be singing less well, it's will be more and more incentive for everyone else to follow suite. Hopefully though, they understand that audience will see thru it and prefer more live vocals even if there are flaws.
You mention Dreamcatcher, they have really impressed me with their latest live stages. It's like the company really let them off the leash for this cb lol.
