Hi there, I was wondering why "Apollymi" is used as "should" in John 3:16... I get why it is used for "perish," but why for "should?"
It is a relative purpose clause (ina-clause) which has an idea of “may” or “should”. That is why: “may not parish” or “should not perish”.
