I actually came up with a theory for this song. What if Devil Town is not a physical place, but a place similar to purgatory or something similar? Or what if it's actually a real place but as soon as you enter, you start singing this song and then you're trapped in it's grasp and you can never leave but nobody realises it because as soon as somebody sings the song, *everybody forgets they exist.*

i just saw this a year late oopsi😨 tbh i dont think many ppl know the actual meaning of the song, its mainly about divorce and trauma, and the dressing gown part indicates either it was night or they were kids, and „i forgot my name again“ is meaning that when you go through trauma/depression at a younger age you experience things like memory loss and it can sometimes get as bad as forgetting your own name. „devil town is colder in the summer time“ indicates that summer is supposed to be happy is warm and a happy season but your sad kinda like summer depression so its colder for you since your going through a tough time. no hate whatsoever not even correcting you i just wanna share what the meaning of the song is for if anyone doesnt know.
I am so happy that you are informing others about the meaning of the song, I love this song and my parents got divorced when me and my brother were pretty young (The summer after my 3rd grade year, my brother is 2 years younger than I am) , we've gotten used to it but it still sucks
