  • This summer's Paralympics were supposed to change forever our attitudes to disability. But have they really done so? We talk to a disabled man about the hate crimes committed against him.

I am a living witness to a murder of a young man who had an amputation to his arm. His parents had passed away and left him their livestock feed store. I was only 6 years old when he was murdered. The local government and police were the ones who perpetrated premeditated murder. The government arranged the murder and the police disposed of his body. The media cooperated in not reporting the crime. Doctor's cooperated in not issuing any death certificate. The county, state, and federal government cooperated in destroying all records of the man's life and of the existance of the business he owned. Even the historical society cooperated in removing records of the building in which he owned and ran his business out of. The building had originally been part of the railroad line which provided passenger travel in it's day and direct shipping and freight. His business was housed in the old shipping and freight building which the government tore down after his murder, about two weeks after his murder. The original passenger depot still stands though the interior was completely gutted the exterior is original and is privately owned. It is a gross crime of inhumanity and I am more than willing to testify should there ever be an investigation. I do not have the resources to hire a private investigator to seek justice for this innocent man or bring to shame a community that colluded to keep quiet and allow such a violation of law the summary murder of an innocent human being in a horrible and violent death, stabbed to death with a knife in his sleep, is unconscienable and inhuman.

I am so sorry to hear this happened ... there are no words and I can't understand why we are allowing the scum of society to bring us all down? Harsher punishments all across the board, they are a threat to society as a whole and we are running out of room for them.

REPORT WOKE MAFIA and WAR CRIMES - US, ASIA, IRAN AND RUSSIA: MY CHILDREN AND I have been under attack with constant death threats, rape by lesbians et al., 24/7 harassment and physical abuse: global supremacists, terrorists, communists. My house was broken into, I was given chemicals 3 years ago that caused brain damage and my children and pets were also given chemicals that re-engineered our systems - this was without consent and is an international attack. Please report at the highest level of government and security.

I'm autistic and was targeted by a teenage neighbour for ten years and I had to move in the end. It was terrible. I had to take medication and was suicidal. The other neighbours joined in.

Absolutely; adults delegate harassment to bullies & institutions and workplaces delegate abuse (since its illegal to do it directly) to laypeople and members and then look the other way when it happens.

As a person living with a physical disability myself, I am saddened by this story. However, I also believe that those who perpetrate these hateful acts on vulnerable people like Michael, and who are prejudiced against people with disabilities in other ways, are in the minority. I would welcome feedback on this comment. What are other people's views??

So, I'm kinda late to the party but ... I have experienced a couple of openly verbally degrading bullying incidents to my face in public and a handful of lesser snide remarks in the background. I think where you are and age of population may have some bearing. My bullies were all groups of young men.
Interestingly, during a recent discussion, opinions on disability poverty ranged from apathy type comments of 'that's just the way the world works' to the more frustrated 'why should the hardworking taxpayer have to fork out more money to pay more for people on benefits' type. Some refused to believe that stories of poverty were real. We are not popular, I feel !
I think it is difficult for some people to see things from a perspective other than their own. I think some of the healthy would do well to appreciate their good fortune from birth and remember that they are one accident/illness/disease away from becoming less able or unable to work and dependent on financial support themselves.

There hqs been an unspoken and unwritten law that those who have a disability must be locked away from society because they are freaks. That it is intolerable to have them in public and if they are not kept locked away then they will be killed. When they are killed if alone then their bodies are disposed of and evidence including all records of their life. They simply disappear, they simply never existed. Those who do complain are put on medications to asssist how they feel or ordered to be put under locked inpatient psychiatriac care or imprisoned in solitary confinement. There is no criminal investigation they are criminalized for the hatred and abuse of others similar to animals considered too dangerous from abuse and neglect and put down. These disables are targeted for destruction or trauma in prisons. They are victims of a system and society that sides with those who advocate and perpetrate lies, abuse and violence as a legitimate need to incarcerate indefinitely. There is no defense just a continous effort and ever present collective effort at the necessity of incarceration or execution of those they argue are unfit, and a plethora of false accusations of less than safe or human. There is no person or agency to defend, protect or prosecute the hatred, theft, oppression, terrorism of a human being lacking in human or financial resources to expose societies perverted accepted practice of murdering and torturing and ravaging the life of innocent human life. Criminalizing the vulnerable to empower those who prey upon and destroy any as other and less then by any and all means.

I defended myself several days ago after a person I knew for 2 years completely lost it at the riding stables, I had just wanted to go home and was at the gate and she ran up to me, didn't let me leave, didn't let me step back, followed when I stepped to the side. 2 cm away from my face with her face, constantly seeking contact again because she now was vaccinated - though could still be infectious! And even without covid... I had done katate as a kid so was calm, self controlled, in the end only pushed her nose very controlled and gently with the flat hand and she instantly stopped after that but of course I was in the wrong and had to leave the stables for good, instantly packed all my things and left. The issue? I can't do all work of certain things because of my disability and asked for fairness and that day had asked her to call me instead of hitting the horse in the belly and rib till it squeeked because she couldn't halter it. The critic was that I use my disability and asked for a meter of distance because of low antibody titers - I would make myself a victim. I don't. I live my life just fine and never complained about my isolation which had been far more extreme. And the other critic towards the owner was that I was too gentle with the horses. Well - I never had to push or use violence. They cooperated otherwise. But I can use it where necessary to stop a fight or danger. And she did not expect that and I think was absolutely stunned that a disabled person clearly knew some martial arts/karate. She instantly knew I knew what I was doing and finally left me alone. Now they badmouth me for other things. But it made her shut up and respect me. So absolutely - disabled should develop this , also the mental strength to stay cool and collected and only use as much violence as necessary and as little as possible. If you do it right it should instantly stop the fight. I remembered my teachers words and smiled, though shaken. 5 years of training done more than 20 years ago , only had to use it here and once 9 years ago. Both times it instantly stopped the fight. All disabled should learn some form of it, also what works for their bodies and what to avoid.

I can't believe I just found this in 2024. Michael desperately needs support. He goes to church; what were the pastor and parishioners doing?!? I wonder how many people knew Michael's story, but chose not to befriend him. He looks perpetually sad and scared. If I met anyone like him I would offer friendship. I wish there was an update. Michael deserves to be healthy, safe, and happy.

Uh, that would not be possible. Unfortunately Canada will not allow any disabled person to immigrate, as they think disabled people will be too much of a burden - even when the disabled person has much-needed skills, has private health insurance, or is independently wealthy. It’s happened time and again, and the government sees absolutely no problem with discriminating against disabled people, which is disgusting.
