Thanks for info. Unfortunately, it seems the new red reliance cap does not thread onto the water tank. I think I'm going to have to buy a second AEV cap and modify it. That said, it seems that even the AEV supplied cap doesn't fully thread onto water tank. Did you find the same? or do I maybe have defective threading on my tank?
I think your situation is typical. For whatever reason none of the replacement caps fit my tank as well as the original. I have the white one from the aev pump kit and a black replacement cap I just purchased from aev. They’re both hard to screw on and don’t like to seat. I suspect it has something to do with the depth of the threads, not the pitch. For what it’s worth, all three are branded reliance on the underside.
I did a little more investigating and got out some calipers. In my situation, the outside diameter of the threads on the tank are slightly bigger then the inside diameter of the cap. I suspect that if I wrapped it in some emery cloth and worked it down a bit the replacement caps I own will fit better. I’ll try that and make an update video to show what the ultimate fix is.
@@johnwalker3263 Really appreciate the detailed response and good to know my situation appears to be typical. I reached out to AEV as well, but no response yet. I'll keep an eye out for your update and will let you know if I solve the issue in the meantime.

the passenger side tank has a whole in it, it comes with a bung to plug or one with a nipple and a bit of hose to run up, which did you use?
I have the vent line. The air gets trapped with the plug and the tank will not fill.
you want strong chlorinated water come to my house ;-)
