Best metal detecting channel! Not only do you unearth the most interesting finds, but you know the history to go with your finds. I am sure you subscriber totals will increase rapidly in a short time.
What I love is your no bull s**t approach what you see is what you get detecting comes first awesome channel and will always follow do not change brother kind regards
Dear Mr Perthshire (John) It’s nearly killed me to wait over 24hrs since getting your latest video notification but this was the first opportunity to watch with my partner and my life would of been made very miserable if I hadn’t waited. But boy it was worth the wait. You have such incredible and varied history. Every paddock every location has a different era of amazing relics to be found, sometimes I wonder how you choose which paddock shall it be today 🤔 Where I live I have Australian Aboriginal history in the form of scar trees and axe grinding grooves, land grants weren’t issued to us white folk till the 1830’s there’s relics to be found but to have what you and the Scottish detectorists have access to on your doorstep you are very blessed and privileged. I’ve said it before but we’re are very fortunate that you allowed us to be apart of your world and we enjoy every detecting step you take, every find you make, your knowledge and history and we get excited when you do. Thank you for taking us on this journey with you. Looking forward to you on the next.
What awesome finds! Every time I coin shoot here in the US and pull something up from the 19th century or earlier I am awe struck. That you can find such treasures like that in Scotland with such history is mind blowing! I'm truly jealous!
Sorry for getting over-excited? I'm not sure my feet would touch the ground John. You guys are in a dream. So are we 😁. Incredible. I've had to wait for a day off to watch this. Well done yet again and the success of the channel is very much deserved. A bottle of Jura surely must be fitting. Yeeha😄🥃
So incredible to find so many artifacts in one place, Roman coins no less! If I were you I would want to understand why so many artifacts in close proximity. Did the field originally contain a trade route, a village? It's another piece of an historical puzzle. I don't know what you plan to do with your finds, but I would encourage you to record them somehow with the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland or similar. Artifacts in the context of an ancient civilization or significant geographical region have an important historical context. By the way, I'm very impressed with your knowledge of early Roman history and your enthusiasm!
watching you is so compulsive, I'm sure everyone was on the edge of their seats sharing your excitement. Great that you can give us details of the history of your finds, it brings them to life. Well done on a cracking dig, thank you for sharing. Have a great week and looking forward to your next video.
You have every right to be excited!!! A Roman silver trifecta!! Congratulations! Even better you don’t take it for granted. We don’t see Roman here in the US. I’m so glad I found your channel.
First time watching your channel and I am so excited by the coins you are finding! My grandfather was Scottish of the Carmichael clan and I grew up hearing him tell stories he had learn as a child! Now I am 73 years young hoping to fulfill my bucket list of seeing Scotland! Loving every small treasure you find!

Wow, such wonderful finds! I love the details on those Roman coins. We don't have the opportunity to dig up these kinds of treasures in Aotearoa / New Zealand, so thank you so much for sharing your adventures, enthusiasm, and knowledge with us! I feel like I get to vicariously go on a real treasure hunt and it's really exciting.
I love your channel! I've been watching for months and am so happy (jealous) you found this hoard. I knew it was just a matter of time. Thanks for bringing us along! Cheers from Missouri!!
I have been detecting for pushing near 50 years and, as you can imagine, I have found and seen many Thousands of items in that time, I also used to design and edit the FID Bulletins, so have also handled countless of items. Fantastic video John!..You have every reason to get excited...You are nearer and nearer to your hoard day, and truly so well deserved. I love history...I am new to detecting, and what a magic motivator and mentor you are through your channel, especially the history to attach to your finds. Thank you so much.
That was really exciting John and athough I would say that was a coin spill ..lost while gambling with the Dice you found 😂🤣but I am crossing everything hoping there is a hoard there somewhere... Because you sure as hell deserve it... Can't wait for the next episode 🤞🤞🤞🤞
I just found your channel recently, my husband and I really enjoy it! Today's video was very exciting, although I confess I had to pause the video for a bit because I laughed so hard when you described the "disaster" that happened to all your markers... but you got your positive mojo back pretty quickly...good on ya😊. Keep them coming we look forward to seeing them👍👍
What a spectacular day!!! Bravo! And stop apologizing for being so stinkin' excited!!! I half expected a song and dance!!! I woulda' been doing cartwheels up and down the field!!! Keep going, can not wait to see what you bring up from the depths!!!
Absolutely fantastic.!!! So happy for you John.!!! Couldn’t happen to a better guy or channel.!!! Totally wonderful finds.!!! Get some barb wire set up around that field quick.!!!😬
What an absolute blinder of a day out detecting after the disappointment of losing your markings to the plough you go out and smash it with the deus 2!! Roman after roman after roman!! Just live to watch your channel as well as the amazing finds you find you know the history of what your digging up. I've learned so much in the last year watching your channel keep up the hard work John love it!! 👍
OMG, John... what an exciting video! Congradulations on your beautiful silver Roman coins! I can't wait to see what you find next! It always makes my day to see your videos come up and this one was so worth the wait! Good luck and thanks for sharing, as usual!
Congratulations on the amazing Roman coins! South Carolinian here and I just cannot fathom holding something that old in my hand. I am truly enjoying your videos. Started watching about a month ago and have learned more about world history than I did in college!! Thank you for filming these
Congrats on the amazing finds, truly amazing and well deserved. Your excitement I'm sure passed onto all your viewers and it was great viewing. Also Congrats on the 15000 subs and good luck the next time you visit the roman field.
@heraldeventsandfilms5970 Ahh Jock. You’re back. I saw you had deleted your last comments but you must have missed this one. Hoping I can give you a mention in the next video. Your theory is interesting. I was at the National Museum in Edinburgh last week and not only did I see over 2,000 Roman silver coins from the Falkirk hoard from these exact emperors that I found in this video but the museum also excavated two small Roman hoards from this exact field 15 years ago. I’ll need to let them know that you don’t find Roman coins like this in Scotland. www.britnumsoc.org/publications/Digital%20BNJ/pdfs/2006_BNJ_76_3.pdf I can only assume this one is another eBay purchase too?? Don’t let history and facts get in the way of your paranoia
Amazing finds! Just can’t wait to go on the dig with you in each video and share your excitement!! Really interesting watching the hoard hunter and OMG that sword or spear tip is a once in a lifetime find - lucky you! 🎉🎉
Well done John, what a find mate. It makes all the tough days worth it when you have days like this. My past 3 or 4 days detecting have been tough going.
Absolutely brilliant! Let's hope the plough is just clipping the top of a deeply buried roman pot full of silvers! The die/dice are really intriguing, never seen anything like the one you found today! Well done....another fab vid. Cheers!
You're on a tear lately, well done! Congrats on over 15k subs, well deserved for such an interesting and informative channel. Keep digging, we'll all be along for the ride.
Oh Bendy thumbs 🤣👍‼️ I’m so excited for you! ROMAN SILVER ‼️🫡 These past few months have been Amazing! -17c here in southern Ontario 🇨🇦🤦🏼♀️. . My Cousins in Stirling have invited me over! If I get some permissions , I will give ya shout! But hey! You got the MAGIC FIELD ALREADY ‼️
Well done!! There is some really good stuff in the ground on your permissions! Absolutely amazing to watch those Roman silvers come up... Thanks for bringing me along! (via video at least) See you on the next one :)
Oh wow wow wow !!!! Congratulations John 🎉🎉 I felt the excitement with you and bit my thumb nail down!! 😂 absolutely amazing and you’re history knowledge as usual is outstanding. We just love your videos, the readings you give on the Deus are great, waited days for this video 👏👏👏

GDMFTA!!🤤🤩 YOUR PASSION IS INFECTIUOS!! I am a newbie here, subbed maybe two weeks ago, but shared it across all my S.M.P. and have been telling others to check you out!...like MANY of us have, this is a great, great channel lad! Remember, Romania was named so after the Roman occupied that bit of land. I might suggest, those times when you'll be losing light soon, to just edit in the history notes of your finds later, you'll have more detecting time, and we'll still get to hear the history from you we LOVE!!...just a suggestion lad. Blessings to you!!
Superb John, most of us can only dream of having that kind of day! Well done mate 👏 👏 👏 Incidentally, did you take the engraved stone you found to the museum, if so, what did they say?
Never apologise for your excitement!! Your amazing finds deserve to be excited!! Well done! Can't wait for the next one! All the very best, happy hunting! Much love chez in Lliria Valencia Spain 😘
I'm so excited for you . To look forward to finding more Roman Silver Treasure. i bet you didn't sleep well that night thinking of exploring for the next day Congrats, great video, Neville.
I just discovered your channel and already watched about a dozen videos. I love your knowledge of history! The bucket mount video is what had me hooked!
Deffo a HOARD!!! What amazing finds. Was holding my breath during the 3 roman dinari finds. Absolutely fantastic, well done! I love your historical commentary, thank you
absolutly fantastic that was John...very well found...the detecting gods were with you today...deffo a hoard..including the bronze...because they're all found in the same context...here's hoping there's more there...big congratulations ! take care GL&HH Gordon.
Your excitement is contagious - no apologies necessary for being so enthusiastic! Fascinating video and amazing finds. Your voice is very easy to listen to for long periods of time and I love your accent (I'm an accent-less American).
OMG John, what a video!! I got nearly as exited as you as time went on. Best MT video ever! Also, so stoked for you for your subs and views, brilliant! Take care M8, cheers, John.
I've been watching for a while but never comment, congrats on the awesome finds and I love your knowledge of history, always a pleasure to watch, thanks for sharing :)
John I am so happy for you. You really are living my dream and that of many others for sure with your incredible finds. You are now responsible for too many late nights watching your channel and and the hole in my funds buying a new Deus 2 . Keep up your enlightening videos so we can all share your incredible knowledge. Regards Neil
I would be in absolute awe to hold such a piece of history! Nothing like this here in the USA. Old things for sure but not 1000s of years old. Love this channel and learning so much!
Outstanding.. I told you I was waiting for you to find a HOARD! More to come, I'd head right back out there with Clegg's hoard finder. Your compatriots are going to be so excited, your next dig you won't be out there by yourself.. 👍🎇👍🎇🤗🤗 From Alaska USA CONGRATULATIONS!!!
The Genius Loci has been waiting 2 millennia for your visit! The preservation of the images on the coins was remarkable. You are putting you home area on the map for Roman finds. Delighted for you!
Another wonderful video. Your excitement is contagious my friend. The finds were awesome and I have to say I am not always keen on metal detectorist removing items that could date sites, but you are definitely one of the good guys. Well done.👍👍
Much appreciated. We are only ever detecting plough soil really so we are just removing what’s already churned up. But the hoard hunter may change that! But we’ll be respectful
I've been around since about 1800 subscribers. I figure, when you get to 20K, there'll be no living with you! Congrats sir, you've earned every bit of this. Enjoy it.
Congratulations John, what a banging day that was. you guys are on fire mate, no wonder you have such a strong following at the moment. believe me i was just as excited as you, and wasn't even there. well done mate.
Alright you got us. We're driving over. Oh, wait, we're; n the US. Lol. Your excitement has us excited to. Incredible finds. I can only imagine the rush of finding something like that. One small invite and we'll be there.
Well done John, great coins , get back on asap, congrats for 15,000 subs. What was your settings where you were getting better depth on roman silvers, sounded much clearer and louder, would appreciate it . A massive well done again 🤩🤩🤩
What a beautiful video awesume John This was spectaculair. Three silver roman coins 😅 I am going to bed now and dream about it, till the next. Hope your GPS was on now 🤣
Beautifully preserved Roman coins!! It would be amazing to find! I've been wanting to go out detecting, just haven't pulled the trigger on it. I'd like to go do it at some old 1800s homestead sites or here in Southern Arizona on my parent's ranch. Don't have the vehicle to get out there though. 😔 Very cool channel! I was thinking (jokingly) that the die was a midevil D&D die. 🤣
as much as the coins are exciting i really love the random bits and bobs that set the mind facing as to what they could be 😀you are for sure the best detectorist xxx
Fantastic stuff buddy. Really pleased for you. Cracking Roman silvers. All that effort pays off. Another 500 subs as well.! Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.! Bless up bro 👊
Very Well Done Brother! I truly was excited! Wow, three Roman! Don’t find them here in Pennsylvania unfortunately. But do find silver. I also enjoy your history knowledge and I Thank You Kindly! Many Blessings and more Silver! DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
John!! I’ve never clicked on one of your videos quicker.. my face when I read the caption😂 3 denari in one day? Surely there’s a hoard in that field🤩 Congrats on 15k I say 30k by December could be easy 😉 Keep them coming pal!
Wow John!! Congratulations!! I relive my Ohio artifact hunting days watching your videos. Enjoy the high(although it never really goes away!) Purse spill or hoard is the only question now. I sure hope it’s a 2000 coin hoard for you! But either way, great detecting, great history lesson! Keep it up John; it does an old man good!
Whoa John! Incredible! I love your history lessons but I have to tell you I found myself yelling at you to stop talking and get to finding more! Ha! 😅. 😂😂. You can imagine me yelling at my iPad! I’m just glad my wife wasn’t around to hear me! I don’t quite think she would understand! On to the next.
Awesome finds 😊 I don’t think your getting too carried away finding a hoard is incredible and the fact that you pulled 3 stunning silver and one bronze must have given a massive buzz a mate of mine found a hoard a few weeks back still waiting on final total somewhere between 6000-8000 of them I’m not sure if there was any silver they look in the pictures like copper/bronze
Congratulations once again John epic days hunt.. Could watch you over and over again. Your historical knowledge is insane. (tried messaging on your website as you told me to but don't know if it worked) Cheers Colin

Well done mate 👏 👏 👏
Incidentally, did you take the engraved stone you found to the museum, if so, what did they say?
CONGRATULATIONS,!!, Never apologize for getting excited. Watching was equally exciting! Good luck next time.👍🤩

I would be in absolute awe to hold such a piece of history! Nothing like this here in the USA. Old things for sure but not 1000s of years old. Love this channel and learning so much!
Oh wow, fantastic , I was so excited for you ....well done xx
Much appreciated Diane. Many thanks
I found you through Nicola White. I love learning the history along with your finds. I subscribed. Great channel. Good look to you and your spouse 😊
Congratulations on all the new followers and especially on the Roman coin hoard.
Enjoyed the hunt . Congratulations on the finds. Looking forward to your return to this field .
@@thescottishdetectorist I know you will my friend.👍
Looks like you've found a Roman gambling den! Great finds, can't wait to see your next trip to this field
I've been around since about 1800 subscribers. I figure, when you get to 20K, there'll be no living with you! Congrats sir, you've earned every bit of this. Enjoy it.
Many thanks Jeff and for your continued support!! Fingers crossed I keep growing but we’ll see when the bubble bursts 😂

What a beautiful video awesume John
This was spectaculair.
Three silver roman coins 😅
I am going to bed now and dream about it, till the next.
Fantastic video ......... Fantastic finds 👍🏻 please keep them coming

Incredible! Well done! Well done on the subscriber milestone too. What a day! 👍👍👍
You lucky lucky bu...r lol well done! great video as always, look forward to the next one!
Greetings from Canada buddy!
Darn great hunting history 😮great video as always and you deserve to find more 😊
Whoa John!
(tried messaging on your website as you told me to but don't know if it worked)
Cheers
Colin
