@@GardenGateMagazine I am also growing cosmos for the first time this year and I love them! Your video is so helpful. What are those lovely red flowers behind you?
I LOVE the bright lights cosmos! And the bumblebees have gone crazy for them, which is a wonderful way to support the precious bumbles. This is my first year growing them, and my question is, will they come back true, or will they cross-pollinate with the regular pink, rose and white ones?
‘Bright Lights’ cosmos won’t cross with the pink or white cosmos, but there’s no guarantee about the colors of the plants that do come back. You’ll probably get a mix, as you did originally, but you may find that over time, one color takes over. Hope this helps!
My tango cosmos grew and it was a nice height. It reseeded and the offspring is 6 and a half feet tall and still hasn’t set buds yet but I can tell it’s getting ready to. I’m definitely saving seeds from these and not planting any other sulphureus cosmos so I can maintain genetic integrity and keep the size hopefully.
The “genetic integrity”? Can you tell me a little bit about this? I have my first experience with a sulfer cosmos that is bright orange color right now. I only have the one plant presently.
Exactly the mix of casual and formal that I like hearing, thanks for the video
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was perfect. I really like that it wasn’t drawn out. Thank you. 😊
Thanks for watching.
Awesome advice thank you

Thank you very informative. This is my first year to grow them. And just needed to learn about their care

Can I fertilize cosmos to promote more flowers?
No need to fertilize cosmos. They like a lean soil. Thanks for watching.
How come mine doesn't have seeds 🥺
It could be that they have already fallen off, blown away or been eaten by birds.
