Another great looking build. I used to have the AHI stun gun as a kid in the 70's in all it's various releases; the flashlight, the water gun and the disc shooter. I think they're called "rack toys". They were cheap and didn't hold up for the amount of play they got. I never thought we'd get these as a kit. MPC has really been hitting a home run, lately. I see they're releasing a 1/48 scale Hawk, too.
*You did a fantastic job on this. In fact it’s as good or better than the props they used on set. Listen! I would pay you good money if you would make one for me. This was my absolutely favorite show as a kid and I always wanted that gun. I am serious! I’ll pay you whatever you want for that or another if you would make one. Let me know . Cheers*
Hello Boyd. I just watched your build of the Space:1999 STUN GUN and COMMLOCK combo kit. It was such a beautiful job. I have a suggestion that might help in a future build of the STUN GUN if you wish to add sound effects. You brought up the issue of where to hide the speaker holes. My suggestion will work if the red and black KILL/STUN label is a sticker instead of a decal. If it is a "sticker", could you not drill holes in the plate that the sticker attaches to and mount the speaker to the underside of said plate. I'm sure the sound would be audible through the holes and sticker material and the sticker would hide the holes. I hope that I explained that clearly. Lol. Thanks again for the great build! I look forward to watching your future builds. Take care.
Great job as always. Perhaps you could have glued a strong magnet in the slide switch and placed a magnetic reed switch underneath to engage and disengage the extra row of lights.
when 1999 was in the design stage all the props were designed except the stun gun. almost all designs were a variant of the ST,TOS phaser pistol or detached phaser, or else recogisable laser guns, then someone on the team saw a colleague using a school wall stapler to secure plans in place. the staples removed, the trigger fastened against the handle and filled, on the front the stapel hole was filled and glass beads glued in place, and the result had some details added to the sides to make it look the part and the stun gun was born. cant get the kit, go to any DIY store and amongst the wall/wood staplers you will find identical tools, a little putty, plastic scrap, CA glue, beads and paint and you will have a hero replica made same way as original , bit more skill, battery leds , a drill and you can have a full metal, original copy lights stun gun. the stapler even comes with removable staple feed to make led fitting easier. probably costs far less thae the kit too.
Excellent job! That turned out fantastic! I like your solution to switch the lights from stun to kill. Very clever! Looking forward to the comlock build. I always loved that prop. I have one of those resin ones and it's actually pretty decent although I had to do a lot of work to make it look good.
Great job on the build but you are confused at one point @7:11.... The clear buttons are for the handle grip area (coloured buttons) and the solid molded ones are for the black ones. Not one side or the other. It was decided when designing the kit to make the coloured ones clear in case someone wanted to light those up too, by drilling holes in the backing behind those buttons and installing LEDs in there.
Great build Boyd! I'm a huge Space 1999 fan and grabbed this kit the moment it came out. Really enjoying seeing others build it up as I'm learning from everyone before I give my kit a go. Super keen to see how you tackle the Comlock!
Very nice video and build! Can’t wait to see what you’re going to do with the communication device! I just began to post my workbench vids and this is thanks partly because of your videos and build series! Thanks Boyd and have merry, merry Christmas and happy holidays!👍
on the stun/kill switch, a small magnet in the moving plastic piece and a reed switch underneath at one end, the kill end. slide the switch forward, magnet closes the reed switch, done.
Hello Boyd. I forgot to mention in my previous comment that the best(and probably the only) speaker that would work in that location of the Stun Gun is one of those tiny rectangular model railroad locomotive speakers. I would be curious to find out what SIXTEEN 12 put in their Stun Gun model for the sound effects. I would love to see you do a future build with sound effects and an actual laser pointer installed! That would be way cool! Thanks again Boyd and take care.
Boyd where did you get the momentary switch and how big? Also it'd be great to have you updated with the reed switch. Big big fan of you and your work and channrel. I'm learning a lot!
@@markbelsom3174 They'll probably get around to doing more TOS models and accessory kits. I can't imagine the new stuff is doing that well. Hardly anybody is watching the new shows. It's a curse of being on the Paramount streaming network as well as being questionable quality series, too.
These space 1999 kits are incredible.
Merry Christmas to you and yours Boyd and thank you once again for sharing.
Awesome the way it came out Boyd so cool 😎 👌 great job
Very nice...as is the Commlock model. You do great work!

Did you mean 1/48 scale hawk? 1/350 would be like a couple inches long.
@@starsiegeplayer Yes, but I see you knew what I meant, anyway. Fixed. Thanks.
Merry Christmas. A very nicely done explanatory video on building and lighting, thanks!
The finish looks spot on - Nice work!
They did use all four laser emitters in the second series once for "All That Glisters."
Nice looking build.
Nice build Boyd! Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Happy holidays to you and your family Boyd! Was never a big Space 1999 fan but this is a cool kit.
I was always a Trek guy but I love any of the hardware from the Gerry Anderson shows.
That turned out really sweet fantastic job Boyd.
Great job as always. Perhaps you could have glued a strong magnet in the slide switch and placed a magnetic reed switch underneath to engage and disengage the extra row of lights.
I was thinking the same thing. I use really small but strong magnets for some of my builds.
That could work. Might try it on another build of one of these. Probably take a little trial and error to get the strength of the magnet just right.
For good quality small speakers you should look at the sugar cube speakers used for putting sound in model railroad locomotives.
I'm stunned at how good it turned out.

I was going to say " what size staples does it take ? Ha ha . " . But i thought they would get mad .
Yes. I have one that shoots staples.
Wow absolutely amazing 👏

I hope to make some of the buttons work with sound and light on the commlock. Trying a new board so we'll see.
@@TrekWorks Can't wait to see what you come up with!
Very nice job as usual, Boyd. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I was thinking you could add some fishing weights in the interior to give it some heft. Nice looking prop!

Looks great
Cool! Im doing some prop work too.
Happy Holidays bud.
@@TrekWorks same to you! 🎅
neat....do you pop off the blak handle to change 9v ?
Yes, swapping in a new battery is very easy and the grip just snaps back in place.
@@TrekWorks congratulation ! you have a very cool set coming along 🙃

Happy Holidays Boyd! Fun build. Question- where are you getting the Dupli-Color paint?
Most auto parts stores carry the Duplicolor line of paints. I love their primer and matte finish clear coat.
The handle cover on my kit is flared out on both sides. Is there a safe way to push the sides in flush with the handle more?
Drop it in some hot water, not boiling, but hot and try to bend in the edges.
Do you have a wiring diagram for the lighting?
👍
Can you get to me your complete wiring of the stun gun please, thank you.
What's the model number for the the kit you are building
Some of the original stun gun props had a visible seem line.
Hah, I noticed it in some of the episodes.
@@TrekWorks it would be nice if Round2 relaesed a Classic Phaser and Tricorder set.
@@TrekWorks excellent build by the way.

In the show there was one time the laser was set to maximum. But I forget which one!
Magnets for the switch
Sorry should have read the comments as someone else suggested it.
I’d love to buy this, but $125 Canadian is pretty steep. 😢
Audio drops out at the 16:45 mark
Must of been an editing glitch, it only lasts a few seconds and nothing important missed.
...why does a stun gun have a kill switch...was moonbase alpha a military base...who were their enemies?..who where they?
