Story 1: Candy nailed it with her observation that the husbands #1 problem is alcoholism. If he's not getting help for that, marriage counseling isnt going to be enough. I speak from experience on that topic, unfortunately.

Honestly with the cake their reaction was way over the top. She asked just so she went in with the knowledge that she might not be eating it. Not a big deal and to talk to a friend like that is ridiculous.
The OP who can’t have chocolate cake at his best friends wedding should just bring a cupcake he can have during the cake part of the reception. Not the AH though.
My favorite drink would be either cherry limeade or an ocean water (blue coconut) slushie from Sonic. Definitely tasty. Altho Irish cream sodas are Definitely a hit too.
Wasn't going to comment at all, buuuutt, I wanted to say that while I agree with Mrs Thunder that ESH for the ultra spicy story, I don't necessarily agree that the husband sucks more. I do agree that the husband went too far but I also don't think the wife ditching her adult responsibility for a road trip was exactly reasonable either. They both suck and if their marriage lasts I'd be surprised. They need marriage counseling at best and divorce at worst because I get the feeling this tit for tat aspect is a reoccurring theme in their household.
(Edited because words do be hard and to say: I do agree that him finding pleasure in her suffering on her birthday was absolutely a red flag and that they should probably both get counseling on their own too. I honestly feel like they more than likely both treat each other this way and sound like high schoolers playing house and not 2 adults. Thankfully they don't have children because honestly, they'd probably weaponize the kid against each other. )
