It's essentially a farming community at the junction of state route 85 which connects the I-10 to the I-8 which carries all the traffic between Phoenix and San Diego. Most of the run down homes shown are really the shacks that field workers used and are abandoned now. The videographer is misleading
thanks charlie. i wish your video could show the intricate sensitive aware web of actual life in the sonoran desert and i guess not so much life.. them cactus pups is saying hellooo it can be ugly but it is seriously starkly beautiful
No shortage of Mesquite for that barbeque anyway. No matter how bad the place is, there's always brand new cars parked outside the shack. Doesn't matter where it is.
You got that right I live in one. I enjoy the wide open space and beauty of the desert plus I take my golf mat and hit golf balls out into the desert, great exercise picking them up.
Gila Bend, founded in 1872, is a town in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. The town is named for an approximately 90-degree bend in the Gila River.
There is a park and public library and a k-12 school there. He dove right past them. Plus, a nice middle-class neighborhood he didn't turn down toward the end. Plus, he didn't show the main road of Gila Bend. Yes the town has gone down hill for the last 40+ years. There are no jobs.

Ive been looking at residential buildings in parts of Argentina they are different often rural ones are unique and some are modern looking. As if there's no zoning laws and a certain freedom exists where building codes are free to be whatever the builder can think of or afford.
@@podcastfan2544 Here there are no specific laws to build, you do what you can, you can build yourself or hire an architect to design your house. Many people live in places that they have inherited and they may be old houses, you see a lot of those in rural areas even in small cities. In wealthier areas these old houses are often remodeled. And people live there.
It is so sad that some people have so much and others so little. One thing I am noting in this video is that there is a lot of satellite t.v. in the hood. On one side the slums are really bad and then you look at the other side of town and there are some really nice trailers.

Gila Bend is an auxiliary air field used by Davis-Monthan, Luke AFB as a place to land your jet if you have hung high explosives. I’ve been there to watch jets strafe targets with their guns.
That place looks like the setting for so many 50s sci-fi movies.🛸🛸
It's scary, IP can't believe people live there.
It used to have a UFO Cafe, shrimp farm and State Police office as well as an auxillary US Air Base.
What happened to all of it.@@patrickgriffitt6551

@irishwitch007 Thank god for that. Otherwise, those poor people would have had to resort to grilling desert scorpions! 🦂🥵🤢

Love your videos! Especially the ones where you take us to remote places like this.
It's right off of I-8.
No country for old men
Awesome movie
No country for young ones either....
No country for anyone!
Ok Anton Chigurh lol😊
😂😂😂
Looks like a great spot to open a luxury jewelry store.
😂
😂
😂
No local stores by the looks of it. Definitely need a car for everything
oh, you may not necessarily need anything
Or a meth lab

Are there no people in that town?
Actually Gila Bend is a pretty busy little town but the videographer chose to show only part of it.

Damn homie. This is the first one id be scared. Rural mfers will feed you to a pig and its a wrap.
NO you mfer. If his car broke down and he knocked on any rural door he would get the help. They are poor but they are better than you
And EVERYBODY is strapped out there!!
There’s a certain beauty in remote desert town ennui.

When did you film here lol I’m from Phoenix and travel thru gila bend everyday to get to Yuma 👍🏽
Yea buddy yuma it's wats up
Wow there's some deeply old looking structures, this is amazing video.

OMG, dramatic video tour of the run-down Gila Bend hoods and slums !
Is there a cooler place than Arizona. I guess it would have been California, but not any more. Very nice vid

Must be on his way to San Diego. Perhaps Yuma is first?
Yes
Where’s all the swamp coolers and AC units?
Very dusty and dry. I wouldn't want to live there?! 😱
If you prefer seasonal weather in Arizona.
Flagstaff Arizona is the place. Beautiful Arizona City on top of the Mountain.
Ain’t no place like home!
Now this is really like wow
You got to do a segment on dead cow Road or a mobile Road as it's called
Not a lot of hood stuff going on in 130 degree heat
Cheap place to retire, gotta get hotter than hell in the summer months.
I've driven through Gila Bend a number of times either going to Phoenix or Tucson. I had no idea what the residential areas looked like.
Looks really creepy...
Gila Bend is west of me here in Maricopa. That place is wild. It's so quiet and depressing. It's very sad
Just waiting for a Grabboid to follow you around.....
Looks just like the small towns in New Mexico. Poor but kinda peaceful.
Where's the grass?
Dead-end streets with underground power ... Maybe a property development that never quite made it.
for car enthuses , Arizona has a few rusted and abandoned cars here and there.
Where is everybody? One cyclist apart there was no one around except for the vehicles. Who actually lives in this mysterious place?!
Aliens
