They adapted it from Step Mom, so I'm not surprised the scene is coming off unnatural. The movie's settings, scenarios are kind of a scene by scene match (minus songs of course) with the original hollywood version. They didn't really adapt it with a cultural nuance unfortunately, otherwise this could have been a good depiction of blended families

I knew it i would find a toxic feminist comment like this. This movie was more about the motherhood, the characters was more focused to Kajol amd Kareena not Arjun. In this movie kajol is a stay home Mom and Arjun is the breadwinner so in a way he is also contributing Alot to his family and fyi if he stepped into the fight the fight would havw gone worse because he had to pick sides and one of them would've gotten hurt so in order to avoid that he just kept quiet the screenplay was something like this.
